Which should I play first: Control, The Outer Wilds, or The Outer Worlds

These games are talked about a lot among some as potential GOTY material, and I've owned all 3 for at least a month now, and I'm feel like I'm finally ready to start one. I was distracted by other games, trying to get through some stuff first, but now my gaming plate is mostly clean, and I can't decide which one of these to start first.

I did start playing The Outer Wilds a long time ago actually, but eventually got sidetracked with something else (and also started to get lost as to what I was supposed to do), so I put it down and it's been so long that I kinda feel like I need to start over. I haven't touched Control or The Outer Worlds at all though.

Well since no one said anything, I didn't play any, lol. I ended up just finishing the Plague of Shadows campaign of Shovel Knight that I was sorta picking away at. 2 campaigns down, 2 to go for that series now. I wanna love Shovel Knight so much, but the level design does nothing but make me angry. There's so much to like about the game, but then the game itself is filled with instant death pits and spikes that do nothing but ruin the experience for me.

I'd say go with Control, The Outer Worlds is diet Fallout/Mass Effect that's filled with Obsidian's usual incompetence of making anything deep gameplay wise that is not connected to choices which in this they messed up too!
The Outer Wilds seems like No Man Sky but good according to those who've played it, but it isn't my cup of tea.
See what you're in the mood for and go with it, or better yet take a stab at a game from your backlog and take for a spin and save some cash. :messenger_winking:

I own all 3 of them already, so I don't have to spend anything at the moment. Well technically I only have Outer Wilds through game pass, but I bought Control during black friday, and I had gotten Outer Worlds on PS4 before I had an Xbox.

I see, so why not boot them up for an hour or so and see if they hook you or not?

Control is fantastic if you love weird and mysterious stuff.

I'm a huge Twin Peaks and Alan Wake fan, so I loved it.

Control, and then hold out for CyberPunk..the other turds💩 is not neccessary. (The other ones not familiar with🤭)

Heard ppl drop Outer Worlds playing after a little while , rushed, empty gm in later stages.

They are very different game.

I necer tried outer wilds but i played the other 2.

If you like good ranged combat with powers, destruction, a mindfuck plot and masculine jaws, play control.

The other one is mediocre at best.

Hey OP, glad to see you here interacting with us. I'd say go with Control first then The Outer Worlds. Didn't like Outer Wilds so it's hard for me to recommend

You lost my respect with this last comment. Just kidding.

The one I liked the least was The Outer Worlds. It relieves the good of Fallout but it seems I was not in the mood to play it. Control is the best option from the 3. It is like Quantum Break meets Infamous and it just works! It does not have the best storytelling or story overall, but the art design is nuts on the later levels.

Havent played Control as of yet.

Outer world's feels very familiar if you have played any of the 3D fallouts and has a slightly smaller scope too. I enjoyed it and is worth a play.

Outer Wilds is probably my GOTY. It felt very new and fresh and haven't played anything like it before. It's an exploring puzzle game so there isn't much moment that moment action that's in the others above and I nearly bounced of it as many have (which is understandable given the type of game it is). I would recommend going in blind as much as possible as the discoveries and puzzling solving is most of it's draw. Give the game about an hour to an hour and half and you will probably see if that game loop has its hooks in you or not.

I'm sorry bruv, I just don't enjoy such games.

Unless you think you'll really like the sarcastic and goofy "humor" in The Outer Worlds (think Borderlands, but fewer crazy cannibal bandits), then I would just recommend skipping it.

I'm really interested in The Outer Wilds, but I'm waiting for it to come to Steam or Gamepass.

Control is great by all accounts. I'm excited to play it once I finally get an RTX card. I'd go with that one, personally.
