This has always been a viable question of mine since I was kid, every other system had a Mascot of some kind.

Nintendo = Mario
SEGA = Sonic
Xbox = Master Chief

But whenever I came to Playstation I was never sure, especially when each generation added their new big titles/characters.

Playstation = Crash Banditcoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
PS2 = Ratchet, Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak, Dexter, and Kratos.
PS3 = Nathan Drake, Sackboy, Cole Macgrath, Joel and Ellie (and I could go on.)
PS4 = Knack???

The problem with picking the mascot was always that each huge game became largely forgotten the generation after and or put to the sidelines in marketing. So just who is Playstation's one true mascot?

I think we're long past the days where having an iconic hardware mascot does anything for you. If anything, Sony's rotating cast of key 1st party characters have kept them from stagnation.

I don't know if there is one anymore. They don't have any notable first party titles this generation so far. I think Nathan Drake is going to carry the weigh into this generation as well.

That oddly is the accurate answer. The only time Sony actively tried to have a mascot was with Polygon Man. But Kutaragi thankfully saw it and killed the idea immediately.

The PS4 is sort of playing Xbox this early part of the generation in that they are going in on third party deals rather than the mascots (Destiny, COD, Battlefront). Hopefully there will be some good characters coming in soon though

Let's not forget Lara and Cloud, during the PS1 era.

I would argue that the closest they've come was last gen with Sackboy and Drake. Drake kind of won that battle, but I think Sackboy is a little more viable in the long run.

Tl;dr: It may be part of their success that they don't just have one viable character that cones to mind when you think about this.
