Which was your favorite Jak?

Jak X is by far my favorite.

I would love a remastered version of it.

They are all good games, but Jak 2 is my least favorite.

The first, by far. It's the perfect template for the open world 3d platfomer, and I feel like a true successor to it still hasn't been made. Jak 2 ruined it by trying to be GTA, and I haven't touched 3 because of how terrible 2 was.

Jak 2, easily. The platforming and level design quality towers over the other 2 games. It's the best game on the PS2.

I vote Jak II. It's a funnier game than the first, far more meaty in content, features more gameplay variety and has a nice Saturday morning cartoon vibe with its story (which is surprisingly decent).

Yeah it's ridiculously hard at times, and the checkpoint system is borked but... eh. Git gud mofos. Also, claims about the series going 'grimdark' are massively exaggerated.

Jak 2. Platforming was more enjoyable for me than the others. Also I don't get the difficulty complaint, I never even had trouble with the game as a child other than getting gold in the third city race.

Jak 1 Easily! a solid 3D platformer that knew exactly what it was.

Jak 2 and Jak 3 were legit garbage.Naughty dogs worst games right up there with the first Uncharted. I just pretend they don't exist. Jak 2 in particular is also one of the most disappointing games ever made.

Jak 2. I found myself screwing around in the game a lot and just causing trouble like it were a GTA game. It was a vibe I liked.

For some reason I wasn't as into Jak 3 as I was the second one.

Easily Jak II, with 3 as a close second.

Never understood why people had such a problem with the sequel having more mature themes. I'd vastly prefer that over a series going backwards and devolving into something aimed more at children (Ratchet).

I know I pop up and say this in every thread about Jak 2/3, but I'm consistently baffled by the seemingly received opinion that the games are "edgelord grimdark", "Shadow the Hedgehog tier", "2edgy4me". It just doesn't reflect the content of the games at all. It makes me wonder what the standards for "edgy" are. "Protagonist dislikes villain"?

I find Jak II far less mature than The Precursor Legacy.

The term "edgy" is unnecessarily tossed around these days (like many words) to indicate simply not liking something.

Jak 2 definitely took a different tone from the first game but I'd say it was still lighthearted in other areas. For example, your sidekick that is with you throughout the entire game. I felt it was a good balance.

But yeah, very much exaggerated.

Jak and Daxter was a revelation for me one of the best pure platformere ever

With Jak II, I am totally sympathetic to the complaints about a repetitive overworld. But honestly at the time open world design was such a new concept that I just loved zipping around the city even if repetitive at times. Stepping out into the open world for the first time was a special experience at the time. The platform into hubs were fantastic and the weapons were fun

Overal not as good as the first but the flaws have only become apparent with time for me. A lot of it was just great at the time.

Jak 3 had a better balance than 2 but by the time it came out it didn't really stand out in the crowd

The first one is the only one that scratched my platforming itch at a time when devs were trying to be hip and moving in from "kiddy" mechanics. Fuck 'em. I wanted more Banjo. I wanted more Mario. I wanted more Crash. I wanted to collect things.

The sequels were fun but they tried chasing the hip new GTA open world trend. The original had a great seamless world with clever loading masking. Also Jack should have never talked. I loved Daxter and that he was the only one who talked. Jak didn't need to go dark.

Jak1, followed by Daxter and Jak3 on a par. Then Lost Frontier and, last between the title I played Jak II. I must say that the only game of the original trilogy I've replayed since they have been published on PS2 is Jak, so my opinion on Jak 2 could be stilted from the disappointment I felt for the changes to the formula it did and maybe replaying now I would appreciate it a little more.
Never played Jak x

1. Jak 1
2. Daxter

3. Jak II
4. Jak 3

Technically, Jak 3 is a better game than 2. But Jak 2 has more platforming, which is what I want from this series.

Jak 1 was my favourite by far. I had to force myself through 2. I really didn't enjoy lots of things about that game. 3 started off well, but correct me if I'm wrong (it's been a while since I've played it).. but doesn't the city from Jak 2 make an appearance in 3 as well? I think my interest took a nose dive at that point.

Jak 2 > Jak 3 > Jak 1 > Daxter > X > Lost Frontier.

I'm shocked (and pleased) with how many votes I'm seeing for 2/3 in here. I always thought GAF had a hivemind that Jak 1 was the best.

I replayed it recently. It's shorter and easier than I remembered. Still fun and beautiful of course.

Jak 2 & 3 just lasted me for ages, and although they were frustrating I found them the much better games. Teenage me appreciated the freedom of going anywhere and exploring this world, which I still found great all these years later. If I had to pick one, I'd say I like them both equally on a replay, but I liked Jak 2 more back in the day.

Daxter was a solid game. I debated putting it higher than Jak 1, but it's a less competent platformer than that game and didn't have the open-world sections of 2/3.

X was okay. I didn't like it at the time but on a replay I found it decent.

Lost Frontier is fairly miserable. Not what I hoped it would be at all.

3 felt like the perfect mix of one and 2 and is by far my favourite. 1 is a close second though. 2 was basically naughty Dog experimenting.

Jak 1 and it's not even close. Recently tried to play through the HD collection and couldn't even manage half of jak 2 before quitting and never going back. As a fan of old school, simple 3D platformers the direction the series took after Precursor Legacy was such a let down.

Jak becoming a soul patch sporting beatnik in a bad GTA clone really ruined the series for me. I wanted more Crash, Banjo, Mario or Spyro not a game to pander to the masses. I do understand why they did it but don't agree with it one bit.

The series picked up a bit with Jak 3 but had lost all the charm of the original.

When the games came out Jak 3 was my favorite, back then i didn't like Jak 1 at all. After replaying Jak 1 years later on ps2 i fell in love with the game, probably my favorite platformer on the ps2.

While I'm here, Jak X was brilliant and I was slightly aggrieved that Naughty Dog felt like they needed to take a swing at it in The Last of Us: Left Behind.

Jak 2 is my favourite.

It's been a loooong time since I played them all, but I look back most fondly on Jak 2. 1, 3 and X were awesome as well though. Having friends over for X's multiplayer was brilliant fun.

Jak 1. Such a great platformer. I'm not a fan of what they did to the series afterwards. Jak 2 I absolutely hated, but Jak 3 was slightly better I feel. Nowhere near the first one though.

I remember when Jak 3 came out and they did an interview and talked about how amazing the technology they created was that allowed for the world to be so huge and open because of how the map data streamed off the disk as you moved around. Back then it was such a new thing.

Still prefer Jak and Daxter.

I'm actually surprised to see 2 doing as well as it is. Big fan of the game personally but it seemed popular opinion was it sucked.

Jak 2 had a nice sense of progression and the open world was fun to mess around in. 1 is also pretty great but I find myself liking 2 slightly more. Never played 3.

Jak 2, the first one was out 5 years after Mario and looked amazing, but lacked challenge and felt kind of empty to me. I enjoyed it but I couldnt help comparing it to Mario 64/Banjo and that seemed like a much richer experiance to me. I haven't really got my fill since those games...

Hands down Jak 1 but I really loved my time with Jak 3. Jak II made want to chuck my controller at the wall too many times.

Jak II is one of the most frustrating games I've every played. It does so much right (level design, gameplay, story, presentation) but the difficulty completely ruins the game for me. I tried to beat it three times but every time I get to that stupid dock level or get fed up with the annoying police AI that I say 'I'm done' and just play another game.

It's a series of platformer games, and Jak II has the best platforming, so that's my favourite.
Then the original, then X, then 3, which basically did what II and X did but worse.

Jak X was probably one of the best racing games on PS2, and definitely the best 'kart racer' game on there in my opinion.

I feel like the difficulty of Jak II is always over exaggerated though. I agree that some levels, like the Baron's tower one, could use more checkpoints, but the only really hard missions in the story are the race with Errol through the city streets, the invisible metal heads in the forest, the Baron's tower one due to the awkward jetboard sections, and the rescue friends mission has a few tricky sections. I'm probably forgetting a few, but they're the only ones that jump out at me for edging on unfairly difficult.

Jak 1 is definitely my choice. If they did a Jak 4 I'd like to see a return to the gameplay of Jak 1 but with the advance in storytelling they've made with Uncharted and The Last Of Us.

I've 100%ed Jak 1 on PS2 and PS3. I would have probably done it on Vita if the framerate wasn't so crap.

So yes, Jak 1 all the way. Jak 2 ruined it all.

Jak 1, 2 and 3 has some intensely hard sections that I dis not expect at ALL, which annoyed me to the point I left them as is until years later I finished them. With the help of guides.
