Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
Well, Asian people do need to stfu in the library. And I went to Colorado, I can imagine its louder at UCLA.

But....yeah, not real bright. She's a poli sci major, so, this will be an interesting practicum on race, society and campus politics for her.

I did my part and flagged the video.

It was a repost of the original video.

She already pulled down her video.

She is taking her future career very seriously. :lol

I know, but I'd rather have shit like this get pulled down.

Especially if you read the description. Probably some nerdy fuck reposted the video for her, hoping he'd get into her pants.

Sadly, the descriptor says he's Taiwanese, soooo...that won't happen.

Maybe he was Hung Lo, that dude gets in a lot of white girls.

She was stupid but I don't see the big deal. It was kind of blunt and certainly not very insightful but I don't really think of it as all that racist or shocking.

And the bit about asians speaking on phones in the library might have some truth to it. She was totally correct about the part about asian kids (or really any second generation immigrants) having their parents do their laundry/cook their food when they're in college. That might show some developmental problems with the culture but it's at worst slightly annoying.

Everyone needs to shut the fuck up in the library. Any half decent college/university has plenty of space for collaborative work; take it there.

The people that answer their phones and then don't even bother to whisper make me want to go Bateman.

That said, the girl's racism is inexcusable, and the Asian guy's response was great.

Or watch stuff on their laptop with headphones on and laugh obliviously at max volume. You are asking to get something thrown at you.

I feel the need to know more about this conversation she overheard in the library. Can any of GAF's asian posters tell me what "ching chong ling long ting tong" means?

Google Translate tells me that "ching chong ling long ting tong" is English and translates as "ching chong ling long ting tong".

Hope that helps.

I don't really think she understands what "American" is. In theory, it should mean tolerance, acceptance, and respect towards all people, cultures, and creeds.

Even if these people are foreign, they should still be treated with the respect of any human being.

There are just so many cringe-worthy moments in that video, her words display a cold ethnocentrism that she appears to be completely unaware of. She also seems to not understand the concept of independent vs. interdependent cultures (which could very well explain the bit where she nitpicks how Asian family members come down to support their son/daughter).

How was it not racist?

Why does it show development problems if their parent do their laundry and cook their food in college? Which is what is also done for me, 6months in a year other half I need to fend for myself. I'm just lazy like that and my mom is a way better cook. It's not like that they are mentally retarded and can't learn cooking and doing laundry at a later date. Or is it because "American" children do it themselves so should the rest? I'm all for integration and all of that, but why do people care about insignificant things.

There is no way that blonde beyotch didn't have a TON of stuff given to her on a silver platter by her family anyway. I can tell.

No one is that self-righteous and ignorant unless they have spent their entire lives sheltered from the "real world"

Why does it matter if some kids parents do their laundry or buy their groceries?

But she is a political-science major, so you know she has it hard now. Ain't no mum or dad doing her laundry or cooking her meals. She is certainly realising her full potential by studying very hard.

also boobs

American culture is mostly an independent culture. We're taught from infancy to be able to fend for ourselves and do everything on our own.

Some Asian cultures are interdependent. That means there is more reliance on one another to maintain sustainability.

These are not "developmental problems". These are different facets of culture.

ITT: people are surprised that some folks live with their parents until they graduate from college/university, and sometimes even longer/forever.

Associating an ethnicity with that is purely racist though.

When I went to UCLA, people complained about the persians at the library acting and dressing like they were going clubbing.

During finals week when everyone's on edge, there's lots of hating going on at the library.
