Sony is right to worry about the XB Series S (Lockhart), so I can see them being cautious about the announcement of the launch prices of the 2 SKUs. But I can see Sony saying, "F-it. We're not going to beat Lockhart's price, so lets just announce ours, so that we can start the pre-ordering process."

There's only 3 months left before launch, and if Sony is hoping to sell 10 million PS5 the first year, then they need to let people start pre-ordering sooner (first 2 weeks of August) rather than later.

Lockhart needs to be $200 cheaper, otherwise why bother? Assuming it is only 4TF and digital.

I'd guess 399 PS5 Digital and 299 Lockhart.

The issue is that Lockhart still isn't announced, the specs are yet to be confirmed. As far as we know Lockhart is part of the series so it is considered next gen to Microsoft. If the digital ps5 is 399, I will lower the bet to 249 for Lockhart. They will maket it as the cheapest next gen console, half the price of series X. They like to use this type of sentences .

Whatever their decision is I'm pretty sure whoever is the one undercutting the other will claim "It's not reactionary, these sorts of things are decided months in advance".

Sony doesn't have balls to go first IMO, they'll do the same as with PS4, wait for MS and undercut them at all cost.
