Who are the most powerful playable characters in video games?

Well I mean, any gods and OP super heroes (Superman and Hulk) are the obvious answers. And from there, you could argue the player in numerous "God sims" would be the most powerful by far. Beyond that Kirby seems to be a pretty spot-on response, especially with his ability to steal powers and literally galactic stomach.

Lightning.

She kills "God," and is powerful enough to become the "Goddess of Death" of a world that is apparently supposed to be our own. And as far as I can remember, Bhunivelze wasn't in any way gimped or depowered from full Godhood during their battle with each other.

I want to say a Dragonball character but know it'll start some sort of fight over whether SS4 Gogeta or SS Vegetto is more powerful.

Dragonball Heroes has LSS4 Broly too, shit is cray

Kirby gets beat down in Smash all of the time. He isn't indestructible, all of his enemies are just weak and easily beaten.

My vote goes to Asura.

Asura and Bayoneta both
literally kill god
in their own respective universe.

Bayonetta probably edges Asura out in that
she survived the encounter, but I guess Asura at least didn't have to be saved by his friend in order to accomplish that.

By the end of the game, Asura's
bigger than the earth and destroys planets as if it's no big deal so he's definitely in a different league than Bayonetta IMO.
That's almost some tengen toppa gurren lagann level shit.

From Final Fantasy:
Squall Leonhart
Cloud Strife
Orlandeau Cid(Tactics)

Xenogears:
Fei Wong

Persona:
Both main characters from 3 and 4

Gotta be Asura.

He weaponizes the entire driving force behind Anger, to the point where he fights beings he has no business fighting out of pure spite. He'd probably beat even Goku in a fight because Goku is mortal.

Asura would get beat down into atoms, and then 10,000 years later come back for round two, wondering why that wuss Goku died of old age.

Kirby doesn't get beaten down in Smash. No one gets beaten down in Smash because you're playing with dolls and figurines, not the characters themselves.

And have you seen Kirby's enemies? Off the top of my head, I can think of a shapeless mass of darkness capable of possessing people, some sort of angel demon thing, several beings possessed by various entities and black magic, a giant robot armed with nukes, a guy fused with a giant mechanical planet, and several souls and supernatural beings.

Pretty much any player character from Disgaea games when you get to endgame. Dropping planets on people for special attacks, etc.

The main character from Soul Nomad and the World Eaters is about on the same level too.

Lol, forgot about this.

Thread is done. Nothing beats Gold Experience Requiem.
Nullification of Cause and Effect: Gold Experience Requiem's ability is to turn anything, including his opponent's attack and willpower, back to the state of "zero". Hence, it is near invincible, as all "supposed" actions created by an opponent would have been reset (back to point zero). It is mentioned by Giorno himself that he is unsure of the exact workings and limits of Requiem's powers, but it has been shown that its range of influence extends from finger beams, surface contact, and to even being in the mere attention of Requiem.

Requiem's abilities is seen by some fans to be opposite King Crimson's: King Crimson erases the "cause" and keeps the "effect" (i.e time where a bullet would hit him is erased, causing the bullet to warp past him), while Requiem keeps the "cause" but erases the "effect", causing endless scenarios where actions and initiatives are started, but the effects of such does not occur (as shown when Requiem completely halted King Crimson's cause erasing ability).

If the opponent is "killed" by the stand itself, then they will also continuously experience death, as they will die but repeatedly return to point "zero" (i.e Diavolo's endless death loops).

This ability renders Giorno essentially untouchable by anything that would try to hurt him and is perhaps the strongest defense in the series.
