Her grab animations are longer than this guy's.

Low damage, though.

It was a team tourney. If you actually look at his next opponents, the guy sitting down to play was also gettin hype in the moment, and his buddy was also into it. Everyone was seriously havin a good time. And its not like shinblade was doin anything aside from bein loud and excited. At no point was he a douche to anyone.

How he replied to bein grabbed was pretty damn calm. That could have gotten out of hand REAL fast.

Yeah, pretty much agree. Looks like they were having fun.

People take things way too seriously. Even his opponent was laughing.

Damn that's one obnoxious winner.

Salute and shake hands. Insults / mockery = disqualification.

But that lady, lol.
Its wasn't really that big of a deal and even the guy he was playing against was laughing.
What's an anime player?

Are we still talking about fighting games? Like licensed games or something?

anime player means they play fighting games with an anime art style like Blazblue or Persona.

Yeah he's being an arrogant dick in his celebration but that's all part of the fun. You get to do it too if you win. Infact, it didn't seem to phase any one of the guys that actually lost, just this crazy lady (which from the back, I thought was just a fat dude with a greasy 90s pony tail).

If the story from reddit is true, she sounds like a terrible person and makes the already looked down upon anime FGC look even worse. Such a shame.

It's probably not true.

Source: I was there and know the "bitch," "DQ him" guy, and their friends who were playing in that match.

She was still way out of line and put her hands on the man for no good reason. I'm more willing to chalk that up to mental issues than to some unfounded conspiracy, though. Friends of mine have told me that she is way too eager to "play mom" in situations she has no business doing so.

Ahahahahahah. That was great, love it

Dude looked legit confused when that beast grabbed him

Some people react to stuff like that throwing punches or at least swearing like crazy, this man contained himself and just asked who that fine bitch belongs to. Shinblade's a true modern hero

What about the proposed facebook/twitter stuff where she apparently tries to claim being the victim? I'm at work and can't exactly internet research it right now.

I'll trust you as someone who was there and what I saw in the video which was (as you said) someone who put their hands where they didn't belong. Everything else is moot.

from behind im telling you that was steven segal yo lol.

Video is hilarious and that's really about it.

I don't see the guy at fault whatsoever, he's just hype that he's whooping ass lmao.

Yeah I was there too. Can't say I know her personally all that well, but I have talked to her a few times and she seemed like an alright person. The conspiracy stuff seems a bit unbelievable to me.

the "DQ him" guy seemed like a tool.

Mostly unfounded. She doesn't have a very mature way of looking at it (she said stuff about trying to figure out why "that behavior" causes her to go off like that, almost as if it's a natural response for her, and lumped this rather mild pop-off in with "sexism and transphobia and other disrespectful behavior" when she had no business doing so imo), but she recognizes that she was acting out of hand and was profusely apologizing for it. Never saw anything from her that implied Shinblade started something physical or anything.

Wasn't really fond of the pity party circlejerk of friends that surrounded her and tried to act like the dude was just as much in the wrong if not more so, though.

More than anything else, I'm just glad that the TO stepped in immediately and broke it up once it got physical so that nothing actually bad happened. She was removed from the venue for the remainder of the event and everyone else kept on having a good time.

Every time there is drama in the FGC, people outside the FGC commentate on it like "man, this community is really terrible and shit".

It's an easy way to tell who isn't actually a part of it and just uses a piece of a whole to look knowledgeable.

Pretty much, the bias against the FGC is unreal.

That's basically like that for anyone not part of a giant fandom.

Thanks for the in-depth info. That brings some much needed clarity to the table. Sounds like we have a good idea of the highlights here.

- Shinblade spikes the football in a way that would have warranted a flag, but otherwise is just part of the way that community does things.
- This lady steps in when she had no business to and may have said some absurd and potentially downright stupid things at that time.
- She realizes her mistake and apologizes later.

To the bolded: I really dislike when that happens. That's honestly probably where the initial reporting on reddit stems from. People see that and generally assume she engages in it or even condones it.

As someone who is definitely not a part of the community, this shit was just plain hilarious and I don't think it reflects badly on anyone except the girl who instigated the attack.

Having seen the video i'd actually be more likely to want watch a fighting game tournament, it looks pretty fun.
