No, you casually enjoy fighting games. When you love something you pretty much do anything you can to seek out competition and play against others. Its an itch that you HAVE to scratch.

Ps, there's nothing wrong with casually enjoying something. Im gonna watch the super bowl but i sure as shit aint playing football anytime soon.

I've meet more awesome people through random tourneys and stuff than dick heads but, man, whenever some drama pops up in the FGC it always has this weird "ew" that goes along to it. Whether it be Chris G saying someone is gay on twitter or that weird sexual harassment thing that went on during the cross tekken release.

The FGC is not ready to be brought home around people's moms. Which makes the Jamie Lee Curtis thing even that much more hilarious.

Honestly I don't know a replacement term. Maybe something semantically oppositional to "trans" -- a word referring to transition -- like "fixed," "static" or "birth" gender. I dunno, just trying to answer you in good faith.

But "it is used as an insult" has been reason enough for groups to abandon labels in the past. Sometimes the history of words gives them too much baggage to really be neutral enough for use. I doubt I need to cite examples right?

Point is, whatever term that is, it's not really up to trans people to decide. One group doesn't get to decide the label for another group. That's not how it works.

I was honestly curious about your answer because I'm fine with the term. I've also haven't heard it used negatively outside of Tumblr which is why I don't see a need for a replacement term.

You are right that some words have been phased out of use because of too much baggage, but cis people aren't oppressed and most aren't aware of the word from my experience. I just don't think a few people on the internet using the term incorrectly or as an insult is enough to deem it a slur and unusable yet. It is like getting mad over being called heterosexual in a negative way.

Also, I not very familiar with the origins but a quick look at google says that cis is an antonym for trans. It looks like it has been use academically for awhile and not something trans people collectively decided to use as an insult.

Yeah, it's all good for now. I don't identify with the word and think it feels weird to describe myself that way but as you say, it's use is primarily in the trans community itself to refer to us, and is thus pretty limited. (This probably also explained why it's used negatively so often.)

A lot of cis women have a problem with the term in a way they can’t quite fathom. Well, I’ve fathomed it and I’ll tell you: because it’s a name that has, once again, been conferred upon a certain group of women without their consent. It would still matter, although infinitely not as much, if a Twitter search of “cis” demonstrated that the term is mostly used in a sisterly and affectionate manner. Nah, more like “cissexist” or “cisfascist”.

And that’s the stuff I didn’t search for, I just happened to see it on my feed one Tuesday evening.

So forgive me if I hear “cis” as an insult to the very essence of who I am and then, when I complain, feel aggrieved that I’m not entitled to experience my discomfort because my “privilege” means that my point of view doesn’t matter and my opinions don’t count.

The good news is that cis is a term that can be reclaimed. After all, it is just a word and meanings of words can be rehabilitated. But in its current manifestation, through its misuse, it is laden with pejorative connotations.

The difference is if you celebrate at a playground basketball game, the other players are going to tell you to move the fuck on pretty quick.

Fuck, at a professional sports game, the refs are going to tell you to move the fuck on quick.

I pop-off at a FGC-related event can take 5 minutes to calm the goddamn crowd, let alone the player. As I said, ain't nobody got time for that after one game.
 
I really don't see why she would put her hands on him like that, just to get him to punch her and banned from a tournament. Seems a bit, well, over dramatic.

Good thing he was celebrating for less than a minute. It was like around 30 seconds...and the woman pulled him right as he was sitting down too

He stepped off the chair, sure. Whether he would have continued playing or played the hype, who knows due to him being grabbed.

Still doesn't change the fact that no one pops off like that into a game (unless someone disconnects or rage quits) for a reason.

I pretty much agree with you.

While I'm not offended by the use of the term in general. It's used by a many people simply trying to find their identity and come to a better understanding of identity politics and contradictions.

My only real concern is that some people take it to ridiculous levels, to the point where they pretty much are saying that they believe in genetic inferiority/superiority (ALL MEN!/A cishetmale will never understand/etc), that they believe in an educational ceiling, do not believe in the ability of others to be empathetic, and is thus, incredibly sectarian and self destructive. That's the same motivation behind supremacy groups, the "othering" of different people.

I don't want to be dismissive, but I think it will will take care of itself in that many of the people who really dig into cis/gender/identity politics are doing it out of a fad. Not EVERYONE, but many of them.

Though the people who use the word "transn*gger" should probably divorce themselves from the rest of society. There's absolutely no place for that in this world.

Agree with you 100% up and down. It'll take care of itself if it ever becomes widespread enough, because the vast majority of people are cis, so I don't worry about it too much - but there's a lot of hateful use of "cis."

I'm not brave enough in the slightest to refer to someone as a "transnigger" in public, even if that is their preference. Just, no way... People can overhear that and then pile on -- that's what happened to Dan Savage when trying to respect someone's preferred pronoun being "it." He ended up getting glitterbombed and then having bullshit like this written about him. There's reclaiming and then there's whatever you call it when you ask people to call you that. At a minimum it seems massively disrespectful to the vast majority of POC who have heard that word used as a hate term directed at them.

The guy know that he can't push her away so he just standing there trying to get someone to separate them.

Doesn't look like this has anything to do with tumblr or "SJWs." I see somebody with probable anger issues, paranoia, and social maladjustment. Everybody else there looked like they were having fun, and the dude handled it perfectly.
