Who Do You Think Is The Best Developer At The Moment?

What you also said seems to be a bit... fanboyish? Could have omitted the last part though. :P

Anyway, maybe its his personal preference, maybe he likes Sony IPs more than Nintendo IPs (I like both actually but I tend to lean now on the Sony IPs, as a kid I loved Nintendo's IPs)

Come again? I nominated Nintendo and Valve.

He called out other people for saying their opinions. Who does that? Especially when considering the general quality of Nintendo's output. Given the content of his post, he clearly has a pro-sony/anti-nintendo agenda and he deserves to be called out on it.

Naughty Dog for sure. Uncharted is one of the best games I've ever played. It's leagues ahead of any other game both in visuals, animation, and presentation for me at the moment.

Nintendo by a country mile. Yep, I group Nintendo altogether...from Wii Party to Galaxy.

Followed by Cave.

These are pretty much what I play now. Though I love whay Capcom did with Street Fighter IV this gen so major props to them.

Last gen it was Nintendo, Platinum, and Team ICO.

Valve barely makes games and what they do make are always overrated(besides Counter Strike)

The best devs are,
Bungie
Naughty Dog
Blizzard
Epic

That should say Team Fortress 2! Also, Portal is pretty fantastic.

Maybe Counter-Strike's formula is just too old to me now. Then again, I didn't much care for it 10 years ago either.

Platinum is going to have two GOTY caliber action games in the same year, which is pretty impressive. They definitely get my vote.

Epic also deserves some recognition for their UE3.0 engine and toolsets, which were used for a ton of great looking PC games. So hats off to them.

I find it odd to say Valve is the best "right now" besides Left 4 Dead there hasn't been much out of them in the past 3 years.

Of course Portal 2 looks awesome.. but I can't handle but feel bitter about how bad Valve screwed up its episodic gaming idea. Still no word of episode 3...

lol episodic gaming

Popcap.

They've managed to make simple, accessible games that appeal to almost everyone. Seems like their titles are getting more polished with each release.

Was Platinum around last gen? Do you mean Clover?

Nintendo (only counting their internal studios)
Valve
Blizzard

No other companies even come kind of close to reaching the quality these companies do.

Classics that are high in quality such as "Demon's Souls" and "Valkyria Chronicles" are just simply another game release to the above developers.

The only one of these three that has occasional blunders is Nintendo, but to be fair they develop more games than any other company in the world. And even then their quality/quantity ratio is impressive.

I like Valve and all but there's seriously no competition with Nintendo in sheer quantity and quality, even when some try to dismiss them because external development groups made some of their games.

They didn't just bought companies like Retro, they also put all their own expertise and knowledge to make games with such companies. Miyamoto himself was appointed to supervise Metroid Prime's development for instance. I know that sometimes they are not heavily involved with their second parties, also often those games end up not being that great. Nintendo has a track record really, really hard to surpass. They have constantly released critically acclaimed games for over more than 20 years now.

Talking about the best quality at the moment. Too me nothing that nintendo has put out has the amount of quality that sc2 has. Yeah I know you're talking bout valve.

Naughty Dog
Media Molecule
Sony Santa Monica
Sucker Punch
Thatgamecompany
Q-Games
Team Ico
Polyphony Digital

It's no surprise I'm a Sony fan through and through this gen. I'd put them way above Nintendo this gen with their quality and quantity. The SMGs are amazing, but that's really all they've got to me this gen that are standout titles.

MS doesn't have jacksquat anymore, it's a shame really.

Fave 3rd party has to be Kojima Productions (MGS is my fave series ever, and I want ZOE3 god danit!) or Nomura's team at Squeenix (Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep baby!).

Well, that's my opinion on the developers today.

Valve. Not even a question.

Though Relic is very slowly creeping up there, but I still don't think they're going to topple the king for me.

Nintendo

I like the Intelligent Systems games, Retro Studios, HAL Labs and EAD Tokyo games

And I still have faith in Bioware...

This is kind of bizarre.

The only clear answer is Capcom. They are the only developer that releases multiple quality games every single year, and they're also the only one that supports all platforms decently.

So what if they are port/sequel whores - which other developer has the balls to release 8-bit styled sequels to their classic franchises?

There is a reason they are constantly referred to as 'Capgod.'

Paradox Interactive.
Europa Universalis III is incredible, and ever improving through add-ons. Victoria 2 is a great release and with some improvement will be brilliant. Hearts of Iron III is a ton of fun now also. Can't wait for Crusader Kings 2. Furthermore, they keep in great contact with the community and really listen to it and post-release support lasts for a very long time.
