Who else is plagued by an absolutely ridiculous name on PSN?

Mine is both dumb and includes a nickname-version of a (my) typically-female name. So until Sony lets us change them, I'm just using a second account for multiplayer stuff to avoid bullshit from randoms and so I don't have to feel the shame of the lame name.

I would like to change my PSN name, but I am not creative enough to come up with another name. Its the reason why I stuck with it for my GAF name as well. I absolutely would find another name to use if Sony allowed us to change names.

I certainly don't like mine...everything I tried was taken so I just started throwing together anything I could think of and came up with Wrecked-One /facepalm. Not terrible, but would definitely had gotten something better in hindsight.

I like my Xbox Live (and Steam) username: it's an Asterix-style pun on what I do for a living. I can't even remember what my PSN name was, but I don't recall it being too bad on the whole. My GAF username, on the other hand, is a daily reminder of why you shouldn't register on a website when you've just staggered home after a long, stupid, drunken conversation with your friends.

Yes because a group of friends who know each other in real life decided to carry on gaming yet remember the death of a friend.

Grow up, and people say it is the Junior Members that say idiotic things.

You do understand that, while that X may represent something meaningful to you and your friends, it just looks like every other idiotic X in people's usernames?

My Tumblr is ChrisMahoney.tumblr.com as well.

Nice tumblr.

Man this thread took me back to all my gaming names...

In CS & UT days I was AC-13057, however, the numbers were purely intentional. I dunno why, but I thought it sounded robotic, and I was obesessed with Armored Core at the time. I would get things from my name being 13057 and my clan being AC, to having clan mates follow suit with AC-11111, AC-6969lol, AC-SL8ER. I still love robots, and would likely use this again were I to ever get back to PC gaming. I graduated to [KKB]BisWombat (KKB = Kappa Kappa Blauw) for more UT and Quake.

First PSN name was Kroktu, and I bought 2-3 games on it, since then I have repurchased those. I needed a new name, since everyone would have such a hard time with my name. Friends started calling me Beans. Saw something that had a Baron in it, really liked it, then started listening to Victor Vaughn, and those two things lead me to my current, and wide reaching name, which is my Gaf name. I'm pretty happy with it, I don't plan on making a change any time. If for some reason BvB can't be used for space reasons, I go with Baroness if I am playing a female, or Garbanzo for a male.
I dunno.

Is LaughingBanana a ridiculous name according to you GAF?
Not at all, I personally really like it!
Man this reminds me of days of AIM.
Oh boy does it ever!
Chain15 for me...tried for Chainsaw...got that....I think I was maybe 8 or 9?

Linkenski all the way since 3rd grade because we played RS Classic.

The name was a mix of Link from Zelda and something along the lines of a Dragon Ball character. When I started RS I wanted to call my character "Son Gaiski" (I thought that sounded like a good DBZ name at the time) but forgot my password, redid the thing from scratch and ended up with Link + ~Gaiski = Linkenski

When I look at it now, I just think it sounds Icelandic or something, lol.

Nah, mine is the same as my name here.

Now if we were talking about XBOX Live I would shake my fist in anger.

I have had live since the original XBOX when I bought the Crimson Skies bundle with the headset. At the time I had to register as Clockwork2004 because I could not use Clockwork. Apparently it's not because Clockwork is being used, but because some jerkoff registered Clock Work.

*sigh*

Mine's Barakku, a romanization of black in Japanese or something. Want to change it to the name I have hear and everywhere else.

My username is Spedfrom, as in "sped away from somewhere at high speed". It's an anagram of my first name and the initials of my other names and surname. I hate it nowadays as it seems to imply I can't hold my ground and feel the need to escape, which is not how I feel at all. So yes, need to change it on PSN and wherever else I use it.

Not gonna lie, if I could I would pay to have it changed.

I'm baffled why users in EU and NA still can't change their PSN ID. That feature's been available to Japanese PSN users for a while now.

Thats real?
Didnt know that... Well, then its possible, they should have made it avaiable to western users also.

I dont know... Sometimes I love Playstation, but sometimes it really get on my nerves to see how careless Sony can be with their consumers necessities and requests.

Sony doesn't let you change your name?

Edit: I know this wasn't the case way back but I could've sworn they fixed this.

As a developer, I'm guessing they don't allow this it's because Sony devs fucked up with their database design. I bet they are using PSN ids as unique identifiers instead of some numeric identity.

That wouldnt even be a tough thing to fix though.

Mine is The_Wise_Alaundo ... I only got a PSN account less than a year ago and I was quite surprised to be able to get that without having to have any numbers in or anything. Then I considered how fucking obscure it is, especially for a console username, and... well... yeah!

My PSN is my full name; TiemenMeijer.

I intended to use just 'Tiemen' or 'TiemenM', but they were already taken, and instead of going Tiemen1994 or something stupid like x_Tiemen_x, I went with my full name. I don't really have an issue with this being my PSN, but if I could I'd try and shrink it down a bit by removing my last name and doing something else to differentiate me from other Tiemens.

Ya I want to change mine, even if I have to pay 10$ for it. Need that option, please Sony.

Yep, wish I could change it. In college it was funny to be Punch The Clown, but now I have to try and explain to my kids why I want to punch a clown so bad. /:

My PSN ID is silly, but I like it. I'm more concerned with ditching my Backloggery (and gaf) name, honestly, but not excited at all about re-entering all of that data.

Krisars is the name. Badassery is the game.

Seriously, this is a name I came up with at late 2011 and I fucking love it. No way I'll change it.

I've had the same username on nearly every website and service for nearly two decades. My memory tells me that you could create a random team name on the original Worms on PS1, but honestly it could have been any PS1 game from around that time. Either way it pumped out LithiumSpade, and I liked it so much (aged 6) that I've kept it ever since. No regrets. Although for some reason my PSN name has an underscore in the middle. Pretty difficult to explain why I have it to random people who see me signing in on my Xbox tho.

On odd occasions I have mixed it up a bit, on Guitar Hero and Rock Band my bands were always called Lithium & The Spades and I've used Spade of Lithium on a couple of occasions. I like it.

Man. When I first got my PS3 in 5th grade (I'm about to go to college now), I had this brilliant idea for a name. XXs where obviously one of the coolest, most rad additions you could have in a username, but I thought they were a bit overused. So I decided to take that a bit further with something that was even more cool original.

holy shit, has it really been that long? fml. fuck time.

Mine was/is upinsmoke2k7, Inspired by the tour and the year 2007 when PS3 released in Europe.

I suppose the whole 2k thing is a little dated but hey ho.

This is extremely easy to fix though.

There are a lot of ways of going about that kind of change, but I bet they're wondering if it's even worth it at this point if nobody is really making noise about it. They should've used an regular table_index column for an unique identifier for starters that way you can update your psn 'name'. Maybe they did but, still don't want users to change their psn names? Who knows I still use Johnnydange12 and it's embarassing, that was my CS name back in the day.

I named mine after the Venture Bros villain, SergeantHatred

I was happy I could grab it at the time, so I took it. Now it's years later and I wish I had just picked the same damn thing I use on Xbox Live, Twitter, Nintendo ID, etc...

5th grade? Thanks for making me feel old there, OP. You have a R&C avatar though, so you're a good guy.

Mine is the same as my username here, so no....or maybe yes? I don't know. It's alright I suppose.

So happy that I managed to secure the same username on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam without having to resort to unnecessary characters/numeric replacements.

I had had Allforce on 360 for years, then signed up for a PSN account when I got my PS3. I tried "Allforce" on there and was told I couldn't use it as it was graphic or offensive. What?

So I'm AllforcePSN now on Sony's platforms, which sucks but I guess it's not offensive when you shill the service at the same time...

my name is based on my TFC nickname from 10 years ago that my clan members gave me:

psn: Mefid

as in Method, not Mef-eed.

I havent talked to those people in years, so it would be cool if I could change it now.

I use Metaternal almost everywhere, but for some reason PSN wouldn't let me use it. It wasn't taken either (it never is), just a plain error message. So I stuck with the good ol' M-TRNL. But dammit I want the whole thing, M-TRNL is for when it doesn't fit! And I couldn't even use a tilde like I usually do.

Only thing that changed between my then current Xbox Live gametag and the PSN name I signed up with was an underscore between the "DSS" and the "64"

Still good with that.
