Who else posted on GameFAQs? Do you still visit the boards?

yes

under a different name

account will turn 15 next month

my favorite boards is nonstop gaming general and their irrational hatred of GAF

I did. And I've visited twice in the past few years. I don't like what the places I used to frequent have become.

I go there for reactions and see people in complete melt downs.

I run a search on their game specific message boards to see if anyone is having the same issues I'm having.

I was on there A LOT during the Mass Effect 3 Co-Op mode days. What a damn gem.

It's still a really useful resource for finding niche info about a specific game. Searching through threads sorted by game is much easier than searching a GAF OT or even through a game specific Reddit.

Oh most definitely. Way too much of my time as a teenager was spent on those boards. I mainly hung around Random Insanity and Current Events and eventually was able to get into LUE. I found out about GAF from GameFAQs and then started lurking here until my I finally got an account here and never looked back.

I used to spend a ton of time in the social boards and in the board hunting haunts but they've gone from sort of dead to really dead in the last few years. Finally stopped going to CE permanently a while back just because there isn't enough activity. Pretty unfortunate. The game boards range from great to troll cesspool, so it's worth checking out for discussion sometimes.

I never really posted a lot unless I needed something. However, GFaqs lowkey has some of the best fighting game players I've ever fought. Legit killers.

Also the Smash side made a thread about me. :P

is ultimaterializerx still as weird as i remember (think that was his name)

okay ulti has actually been reduced to nothing but complaining about liberals at any opportune (or random) moment these days

by random I mean like labeling the new pokemon Bruxish as SJW trash

You always did strike me as a user who is really ignorant when it comes to Nintendo lore.

Hahaha

Ill post something every so once in a while. Stay away from the bigger boards and system boards though. Sometimes a niche game board might be more livelier than an OT here (If there even is one).

I was a regular for a few years, and then went off the internet for several years 05-09. LUE was privitized and I never got my account registered in time. I've gone back to some of my old boards just to have a look. I even wrote a mini FAQ for a side quest in a game.

I still post on the boards on occasion, though not too often. These days I tend to stick to the boards for more niche games and avoid the popular ones.

Yes and Yes. The JRPG / SRPG community is great (particular for the smaller stuff like NIS / Atlus / IFI) and way more active than GAF usually is.

I posted there long ago (under the same username) but I just checked and can't figure out my login information or access my old e-mail address. It was a glorious cesspool.

The next-gen board there traumatized Gamecube/Nintendo fans.
Is there a Gamecubes version in the worX?

I like to help people who are having trouble with "niche" games
(Japanese ones that nobody can understand)
around release, or look up answers for my own questions. Not really good for much else.

Although, someone once made a topic that went into detail about how my sensual voice annoyed them. That was pretty funny.

Please tell me this wasn't your name, because I don't remember anyone by this name and I'm going to feel bad if it was. <____<

This is an excellent idea.

I was Afrocious on GFAQs, but I was saying I recall your past posts on GAF. Never knew you on GFAQs :D

I did and I still know OP from there, as I've told him a couple times before. He was probably one of my favorite CE posters back in the day.

Anyways, I still go on NGG, more than GAF honestly. It's a cesspool but it's kind of my internet home at this point. I'm a masochist so I kind of enjoy the inane arguments with morons and troll accounts more than legit discussion here, also I like how the site is organized more than GAF itself (I don't like how discussion for a game is often tied to a singular topic here with OTs, I get obsessive with reading every post in every topic I click on which isn't as feasible here). Also for anyone who used to visit but stopped, it's honestly gotten worse lately. The board used to have a sort of self-awareness to it, the new users who I think somehow came in from the console-specific boards don't hold a shred of self-awareness or wit. And a lot of the old guard that's still there don't even really play games as much anymore or have platform-specific alliances, and a lot of them have gone inactive.

I don't venture elsewhere into the site though, aside from a private board I've been going to for over eight years now, and has a decent but very small community, and the Melee board which I recently started going to and is actually really good (mostly composed of knowledgeable competitive community old-timers who have been there forever). I stopped going on CE a little less than a couple years ago (like late 2014) when I realized how much of a time sink it was to me. There are constantly new topics being made so I could just go on the board and not leave for hours. I guess I can do that with GAF but somehow the flow of posts here doesn't encourage it as much, I guess because making new topics isn't as common here (with more posts contained to a singular topic) so I don't post as much. And of course the community there is terrible.

wow

edit: i think mumei's been unsuccessfully been trying to get me to watch monster for a decade

I actually went to board 8 during the BGE contest last year since someone linked it a couple years before that when the 2013 character battle was going on and all of the stats analysis interested me. Seeing them react to Undertale was....interesting, but it actually got a decent amount of people there to try it and like it (including Ulti oddly enough), despite the screencaps of rage you might have seen floating around (some of those were from joke accounts but others were legit).

Used to post heavily there around the turn of the century and during the GameCube/GBA heyday. Also wrote a couple of FAQs, one of which a high school friend later told me he used (without knowing I wrote it). I remember the first Video Game Character Poll Tournament being a huge deal. I used to hang mostly around the FAQ writers board and was really inspired by all of the self-motivated writers there.

People also forget that Colin Moriarty got his start over there, writing a ton of guides under the name CMoriaty.

Yep, all the time, it's easily the best place on the interney for game specific info. Like someone said GAF is alright for general discussion, but if you're looking for help or guidance it can easily get lost among the sea of posts in OT's, so it's best just to use GameFAQS for that sort of thing, especially for niche games.

On the stupidity and rampant trolling that infests the site, I've honestly come to love it over the years. Many topics devolve into squabbling and its hilarious to read through it all, some people have mastered the art of riling people up and starting pointless arguments and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. Same applies for the official Bungies forums, that place is a cesspit but its a glorious cesspit, full of comedy gold.

I lurk 313 (the UK board) every so often. Sometimes I check out the other social boards like CE.

I also check out the game boards and post depending on my interests at the time. I do post whenever I see something I can answer though on game boards :).

I used to post a lot on the anime boards, but ever since I've moved to NeoGAF, I rarely post there. It doesn't help that the anime boards have really gone downhill, particularly with a certain group of annoying posters taking over.

Ooh. :x

edit: i think mumei's been unsuccessfully been trying to get me to watch monster for a decade

... I'd actually assumed I had succeeded at some point and hadn't been doing it at all!

I actually desperately need to rewatch it because I forget almost everything

I had a husbando ranking topic (which I need to get back to...) and Johan was nomminated... but I was drawing blanks

writeup #61

Johan also gives a drink to a thirsty man, money to a woman in need, candy to relative strangers, and advice to children.

Capital guy.

I still lurk and post on a particular board there but that's it. Had the same account since... christ, my account's going to be old enough to drive this month.

It's the only place I've found so far that called me a douchebag over a game review, though.

I still visit GameFAQs to check FAQs for older games or ones with smaller communities. These days I mostly avoid the boards. I'll check them out to see if there's a stickied FAQ post but that's it really. Can't stand all the benign topics to actually make posts on the boards anymore. I used to visit them all the whole time when I was younger but...just...ugh...not anymore. I honestly can't tell if they've have always been as bad as they are now socially or if I just never noticed back then.
