Edit: not knowing much about PC specs these days, is this a great deal or not?

Looking forward to what you have planned.I didn't know where to put this and didn't want to create a new topic so mods didn't think I was advertising. I just wanted to say we have just been approved to develop for Nintendo platforms (Wii U and 3DS specifically). Although our first game will be released for the Wii U / Xbox One / PS4 / 3DS, we are really excited abotu working with the Wii U.
I have a question. I've asked it before in some thread but the answer I got wasn't very clear.
I keep getting a "data has finished installing" notification on my gamepad. Yeah this is normal. It's for a Pikmin 3 patch.
Thing is I don't have the disc to finalise installation.
If I delete it from the downloads, will it need to be downloaded again? Or has it actually finished installing the update and will finalise even if I delete it from the download manager list? Or does it hair delete the entry from the download manager and leave the installer file intact?
Unfit deletes the installer and I haven't finalised will it just automatically download again? If it doesn't, how do I manually update my Pikmin 3 when I get it back?
I guess I haut want to know how the download manager works with a patch that is "finished installing" but keeps promoting me, indicating it hasn't really finished.
Posting this here since this thread seems more active.
Got my refurbished unit in today, but I can't get past the Mii Maker during the system setup because the GamePad keeps freezing (though music keeps playing, I can't use the touch screen or buttons). Nothing on Nintendo's support site has worked so far, and their phone line is apparently too busy right now.
Any Gaffers had this problem and have any advice?
Make sure youre not too far away from the console. The gamepad doesnt have a huge range on it. Otherwise, i would call nintendo.
It will keep popping up until you start the game. It shouldn't download it again, if it does, you might have to switch off automatic downloading.
I'm sitting directly in front of the console. Anywho, I'm on the phone with Nintendo now, but I have the feeling I'm going to be sending this back.
Edit: Aaaaand I have to send everything back to Nintendo. I'll probably end up not even playing a single game until a month after I purchased the console lol.
without trying to bring anyone down, i have to wonder why the sudden interest in the platform. the library may have a dozen or two good to great exclusive and multiplayer games, but support is still incredibly weak compared to the wii or gamecube, both of which earned a lot of ire while they were being supported.

Damn looking at the games i'm interested in and the all nintendo exclusive retaining their value thing is really messing with my 20GBP/30$ rule, how is LEGO City Undercover still almost full price a year after its release , not even talking about first party titles.

I'm going to bite harder than Suarez on friday!
Mario Kart bundle FTW!!
can I make copies of saves from my wii on a sd card and then put them on the wiiU or is a system transfer required to move data between systems?
Mario Kart Bundle has been sold out everywhere here. Decided to stop in the land that time has forgotten - Kmart. Seeing as how they still sell a full priced Madden 08 I was expecting to only find a fully priced Mario Kart N64 bundle. But surprisingly they have 6 Mario Kart WiiU bundles so I grabbed one.

Without wanting to reopen the endless core/casuals definition debate, it's possible perception may have shifted slightly as to what a 'core gamer' is, with increased inclusiveness of Nintendo's style of games and perhaps a lowered tolerance of AAA cinematic experiences. Speaking for myself, I didn't really realise what we had with the Wii until about 2011 when I bought the Rainfall games and a few other gems and realised what I'd been missing while trudging (and I use that word deliberately) through the AAA library on the PS3. Prior to that I think I pretty much treated the Wii as a Nintendo box with the focus on the big hitters rather than the mid-tier, and did most of my gaming on the PS3 which seemed to me was where the core gamer was to be found (or 360, of course). It took me much longer than it should have done to realise I wasn't enjoying it much, and figure out why. Perhaps other people had a similar experience, and perhaps that view also held sway during the previous generations where whatever 'the core' were, they weren't really Nintendo.
On top of this we have a situation where development costs are spiralling, mid-tier has shot it, there are fewer AAA games coming out than ever, each with massively increased budgets that have to cater to the widest range of customers possible to make a profit and a whole mess of F2P and micro-transactions business models. It's a situation that's really only arisen in the HD era, and maybe Nintendo feels like a safe haven from all of that, the last place you can get gaming like you remember it from past generations. Couple that with the 'rediscovery' phenomenon I suggested above, and the fact that this E3 they absolutely nailed their presence, their message, and the way they interacted with the fanbase, and I can see how they could garner a whole load of goodwill without really doing anything that different.
By the end of 2015, WiiU will have already a better library than Wii. The only things missing will be Metroid (Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2 largely compensate for that) and Mario Galaxy (SM3DW is almost equivalent). Moreover, they could appear before the end of WiiU life.
WiiU is likely to be my most played console in 2014 while I wait for PS4 or XBO to have enough interesting games out.
Nintendoland multiplayer
Pikmin 3
SM3DWorld
WWHD
Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Pullblox World
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Scram Kitty And His Buddy On Rails
DKC : Tropical Freeze
Guacamelee! STC Edition
Shovel Knight
At least 7 of those are or will be instant classics IMO. It's more than enough to justify a console.

This post hits the nail on the head for me. Sums up my feelings on every issue touched upon to a tee and the new found gaming lease of life through my own recent rediscovery of Nintendo.
Except that I turned my nose up at the Wii altogether at the time so are now having to go back and make up for what I missed out on.
I have a question for the thread. I'm looking to purchase a Wii U sometime in July.
There are many people in the F/S thread who are selling Download Codes for one of the four free games. I am able to go ahead and purchase 2-3 download codes now and then just save to redeem them once I get my system?
Is there a time frame in which you must redeem the online codes?

The download code can be used to download the chosen game from Nintendo eShop to any Wii U console**. The download code expires on September 30th 2014, 22:59 (UK time).
i did a quick run through, and about 251 people bought a wii u since mk8's launch and popped in here to tell the tale.
So 251k Wii U's sold in June.
Anything less and I will be disappointed.

Buying MK8 digitally will just auto attach my game to my club nintendo account if they're linked and give me my free game choice right?
That part is really un-intuitive but you should be able to go into the "create new NNID" and then there should be an option to do it later.Just received mine, yay.
But um... setting it up now, do I seriously need to create a new (dummy) user in order to run the system update in order to be able to import my NNID user? If I try to use my NNID, it says I need to do a system update, and it sends me back to the create user/use existing menu. -_-
