just wondering how many here at GAF don't even play videogames(at least anymore).

The only systems I have are super nintendo and nintendo 64 which only get play when people come over and want to play some game or something. Don't have any current game systems anymore :/

I went from over 600 games and like 10-15 systems to only having a PS2 now, with some PS2 and PS1 games. I just care a lot less about gaming than I did even six months ago.

I just own a Wii for Punch-Out!! and Virtual Console(even though it's just about dead).

I own a 360, and I recently went through Ghostbusters, and that was neat in a nostalgia kind of way. Own a bunch of other games, but nothing too thrilling.

Other than that, it's just PSP and DS for me.

I only have a DC which I play maybe once a month. Used to play with my PS2 but it broke like last year. I don't want to buy a 360 or PS3 since it's mad expensive. I'll wait it out for the next gen to get the current gen...maybe.

Used to be an avid game *collector* (bought rare games though I never played them)... now I only own PSP and DS with a handful of games, and I barely touch them :(

I kinda have to force myself to play games now. It's like a 30 minute a day thing aside from the occasional big release.

Actually, I guess I lied. I play Pet Society for like 30m a day so I can win money on the races.

I have lost excitement on this current gen (PS3/360/Wii) when I realised that Street Fighter IV is a huge disappointment when compared to the SF2 and SF3 series.

Big anticipation for this with a big let down.

I am going to retrieve one my old SD TVs that left behind at my parent's place. Old console just don't look good on HDTVs

the Dreamcast was my favorite console of all time that actually got my excited

But I don't see the point in selling systems. There'll be something that interests me that comes out. Sometime.

My excuse has always been "I need to pay a huge phone bill" or this time around, "I need to cover a $400 traffic ticket."

You should play TDU if you haven't, though. GOT360

Just don't have time and I'd rather read some George Martin fantasy. Also school is actually interesting. So yeah, very little gaming if at all. I might pick up the next PixelJunk game and Fat Princess. I did get inFamous for half price recently, not sure when I'll play it though.

I haven't owned a console since early PS2 days. Aside from little iPhone games I play when I'm out and about the only thing I've played since then is Everquest. Been subscribed since April 4th 2001!

The same will probably happen to me. I've got 300~ games at home, and when I moved to Korea I only took around 20-30 of them with me (I brought my 360, PS3 and PSP with me) but I have no motivation to play any of them. Combined with the fact that I'm working 9 hours a day, at the gym three days a week, got a girlfriend, and I'm doing a lot of tourist stuff it leaves little time to play video games.

I think this will be the last generation where I'm an avid gamer. In the last year or so I've had to force myself to complete games in one or two sittings otherwise I lose all interest in them. And I think that's the future for me.

I re-purchased a PS3 just before the release of infamous. Played infamous, beat it. Tried to get into other recommended titles, including killzone 2 but eventually sold it via CList to help pay off a recen debt and invested the remaining cash into a new guitar.

For me, it felt like... If I can put in over 20 hrs into a game, maybe I should use that time for something more useful or productive such as practicing my guitar lessons or reading, looking for a job, etc.

It was a matter of priorities. Hopefully the next PS3 will last me until the next generation of consoles hit.

Edit:

they're too expensive and too time consuming.

That pretty much sums it up.

Mine was tied to this big minimalist kick I got on when my mom died. She left behind a gigantic mess for us to weed through and get rid of, and I decided I wouldn't do that to anyone. So instead of having shelves and shelves of games and boxes of old magazines or whatever, there's clothes and one partial shelf of books, and that's it. When I croak, my mess will take all of about 10 minutes and two trash bags to clear out.

Maybe that's a stupid reason, but it's too late now. :p

I don't play as much but I still have the systems and such. I don't buy them as much as I used to do to having more interest in other hobbies now so it leaves less for videogames. For me at least, when I played video games more there weren't as many hobbies that interested me.

My entire family including myself are hoarders so that ain't happening here.

Also I forgot to say, I'll be buying a bass guitar soon and learning that beast will eat away more of my spare time. That and the fact I can't buy games in Korea with 100% certainty that they'll work and/or be in my language is also another factor.

Now days I do my gaming on PC. Mainly adventure games that I have missed along the years and some RPGs. I also try to reduce my Amiga 500 backlog. I do buy PS3/360/Wii games but I only start playing small % of 'em. Don't really know why I still keep buying games if I'm not going to even play them :lol

I play average of two hours a week. So it's not much. But every now and then comes along game that I like to play.

I've been on a steady decline since the Dreamcast was killed off. Had some fun with my PS3 initially, but basically every game I try is boring after about 20 minutes, so I hardly bother any more. I don't even own any games for it, aside from some PSN stuff (that also goes largely unplayed). Will probably sell it sooner or later and just get one of those region-free Momitsu Blu-ray players instead.

I own a PS3 and PSP but I have found myself spending more time on forums like GAF rather than actually playing games on these systems. :lol

Can't say I've given up on gaming yet though, merely I don't devote as much time as I used to on the PS2 days. Also I've figured that less and less games keep me interested enough to play through them until completion.

I play my 360, but I haven't bought a new game in a long time, way too expensive. When I play it's either NHL09 or an arcade game like geo wars or lumines

I spend more time reading now than playing games. Free entertainemnt ftw

Ditto. After the Dreamcast died, it seemed that there was a drought for the cool, bright arcadey style that Sega had (and I freakin' loved) for the home consoles. I just steadily lost interest in gaming as a whole.

I have a 360 but 95% of the time, it is used for watching DVDs.

I barely play games on it though and has nothing to do with console war bullshit (ie, PS3 is better hur hur) and everything to do with a generally stagnant generation of software. This generation has done very well in integrating online to the experience but if the ideas are stale and boring, then who gives a fuck? I don't care if 256 players can play in a level online if the gameplay is boring and shitty.

What is sad is that last generation, a bunch of good games came out that I could never afford to keep up. Now I have money and can't be bothered to play 90% of the shit that is considered good. I considered going back but I'll just skip it.

Biggest beef I have is that everything is so expensive regarding games. Especially the handheld systems.

I play games for maybe a couple of hours a week. A lot of times it is just to mess around with it, since I already bought some games, why not play them?

Edit: Yeah, the Dreamcast also was the last system I was really hyped for.

I have a DS and barely any games for it. Still try to play the Castlevania titles...

Otherwise, I don't own any current systems, and my PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PSX, N64, and SNES are all back at my parents' place. I do enjoy gaming from time to time, but nothing really grabs me, and there are other places to focus my attention on now.

I played Street Fighter IV at a friend's house yesterday, and got bored quickly, thinking it was the same game I had played thousands of times over in my teens and early twenties. I mean, it was fine, but nothing spectacular or that I could see myself playing over and over again, like I used to.

I just got a DS to see if I could get into games again. So far, yes.

I do have a PS3, I play a game on it about once a month. I have a Wii that only comes out for company, and rarely. Singstar on PS3 has trumped it, for now.

I do play a lot of casual games on my phone, though.

So I don't quite fit the model, but close.

I'm playing less and less, but it's not voluntary. Life is just taking more time, money and energy as I grow older. I do own the current systems, but for example I won the PS3 at a carnival and haven't bought any games for it in almost a year. I did buy a DSi with one single game, though, and I do use that daily. It's only because I have a 45 minute bus ride to work, otherwise I probably wouldn't use that one either.

Really hope to find a job that allows for some more free time, or something, in the future. I don't want to stop playing games, or drop any of my other hobbies for that matter.

My 360 is boxed up in a closet. I still look forward to about 4 or 5 games on PS3 plus I use it for blu ray.

I'm not done with games, but it's at a point where I probably could have just had a DS and be satisfied.

I do have a Wii and 360, though.

Our Wii hasn't been played since I originally got Mario Kart. So..... 8 months ago?
PS3 gets used for blu-ray 99% of the time.

The only game I've played this year is DQ5 on my DS but even that I stopped playing halfway through.

I should maybe just sell the Wii. It's upstairs not even hooked up.

I dont have a Wii, PS3 or 360. I did have a 360 last year but it broke (shock) and I returned it and got instore credit and bought a bunch of DVDs

I gave a gaming PC, I'm only playing L4D every once in a while...
Haven't bought a game since... Well, L4D :P

I never owned any console, ever, except the PS2, which is actually my brother's.

I'm gaming free. Sold off my 360, PS3, and Wii awhile back. Every now and then I will play an older PC game (my computer is about 6 years outdated) to kill some time but for the most part I've no interest in gaming.

I wouldn't mind trying Diablo 3 when it's released but I doubt I'll spend the grand to do so.

I own a 360, wii and ds. Nothing this year so far has really interested me, no fuckawesome titles, only good or average, and I want more.
I also use my pc and SW TOR is about the only game I've been excited this year

I play a lot less than i used to. Now i'm just trying to finish Mass Effect before Mass Effect 2 comes out. I also play WOW with some friends on mondays. if we all didn't play together i doubt i'd still be playing.

I just turned 28 and I'm probably playing more games than ever. It is getting harder and harder to get really excited for games sometimes though, generally only one or two games a year are able to do that. The Last Guardian has be giddy like a little girl though and I'm expecting great things of Brütal Legend, but the rest doesn't excite me as much. Even FFXIII looks lame (after playing the demo). But I'm still able to enjoy myself all the time and I'm not forcing myself to play anything I don't like.

I still play games. Just started MGS4 last week and I picked up Mirror's Edge at Gamestop for $20. Although I seldom post or wander into Gaming Discussion.

Maybe this is a good thread to ask in, since I haven't found the info elsewhere yet: if I were to sell my PS3, do purchased PSN games stay on the hard drive once my PSN account is disabled/cancelled? The money I've spent on those games would be a nice incentive for someone to buy when I decide to get rid of the thing.

Might be easier to just change the contact info and password on the PSN account to something that the new user can edit.
