Who here wishes Tenchu was back for this gen?

I was just recently looking through my old game back log and I remember playing the master piece that was Tenchu Wrath of heaven. If there was ever something ripe for a remaster it's those games. I found them to be the best implementation of a stealth game with how limber the Ninjas were and the great co-op the games had. They also had a great vs mode too where you could pick the other characters in the game. They even had the orginal ninja dog!

Rikimaru and Ayame were great characters.
Shout outs to her special armour being bikini plate
The addition of Tesshu was great too. Also I beleive one of the later Tenchu games has a level editor in the game. I think in this era that level editor would have a better reception.

Why has from software not gone back to that well? Why hasn't a publisher just pull it back up. WoH is my favorite Activision game.

Look at the greatness of the stealth kills in that vid. Game did not age too bad to me to be honest.

Would you guys like a revisting of that game and have there been recent clones of that game in the past 4 years?

Surprisingly, Tenchu 2 on the PS1 had a level editor. I love this series so much. I'd love to see a competent developer get their hands on it again.

Wrath of Heaven is one of my favorite games ever.

I was surprised to learn the Wii has Tenchu 4. Can't wait to get it.

I wish the top team at From Soft were to do a current gen version.

I had so much fun just fucking around in Tenchu trying to get perfect stealth kills each time.

Don't think I ever progressed very far, but I still had a blast.

I'd be down for a new Tenchu. :}

Hell the fuck yeah I want a new Tenchu.

There's a ton of Playstation era games I want to make the jump to the next generation. I'd sell all ya'll into slavery for an PS4 version of MediEvil.

Tenchu would be a welcome stealth game in modern times because MGS has changed so much and Assassin's Creed has crapped its own bed.

I want a new Shinobi game. I liked the character design in the PS2 version but I did not enjoy the game. I feel Shinobi had massive potential and I hoped the rumors were true that it had been given to Platinium. We will get MG Rising 2 instead so it's okay.

What we really need are good Samurai games. Besides Onimusha 3 many years ago it has looked bleaked on the Samurai front.

Tenchu and Tenchu 2 were my jam back in the day. I spent a lot of time in the Tenchu 2 level designer. I remember really enjoying the map design back then too, even if the awful draw distance kind of killed it at times.

I miss their straight forward approach to stealth games, and I miss the atmosphere the first few titles had. I haven't checked to see if any are on PSN in some way for the PS3, that might scratch the itch.

Add Jumping Flash to that list, too.
Considering the series missed the PS2 and PS3 eras, I can't even imagine a PS4 Jumping Flash game. o_O

I'd like to see Tenchu coming back. A good ninja stealth game. Didn't have the latter parts had supernatural stuff? I wouldn't need that. Checking out the area, sneak around etc.

I was pretty sure I'd have to make this topic once I shed my "junior member" status. I'm glad you did it.

Tenchu is easily one of my favorite series. I'd love to see another sequel or a reboot. The atmosphere was always great. Back when the first Tenchu came out stateside, my friends and I spent hours taking turns creeping along the rooftops. Once we figured out the grappling hook mechanics, it was a game unlike any other we had played.

If they ever bring it back, I hope they keep it truer to the earlier few games in the series; the Wii game wasn't a whole lot of fun, in my opinion.

And for those saying "just play Shinobido", they're just not the same.

I was just thinking about this the other day when I was picking out some older games to sell off. Came across my copy of Return From Darkness and thought, "Man, I miss this series."

Wasn't the best one of the bunch for sure, but I'd still like to see those characters return.

We had this thread recently. From Software owns the series, but didn't develop the majority of Tenchu games. They pretty much stopped publishing externally developed games after 2009 or 2010.

I only played the Tenchu on Wii. I really liked it once I stopped doing the awful first-person sword combat.

With today's technology, imagine how realistically that poison rice ball will bounce and roll around. It'll take a "only one rice ball" playthrough to a whole other level.

So yes, another Tenchu would be lovely.

A question for the hardcore Tenchu fans: what is the best Tenchu game? Its been a while since I played this franchise. I am thinking of the first 2 Tenchu games for the PS1 and Wrath of Heaven for PS2.

I love the Tenchu Series.

It's crazy but one of the things I remember most was the sound of the swords. hah.

I liked a Wrath of Heaven best for gameplay, but the music from the first game was best. The first Tenchu is the only game that, every single time I went to play it, I would let the entire intro play through. The song was fantastic, and the video was great.

Just buy Shinobido.

Any Tenchu fans that haven't played the original Shinobido are messin' up. Get your PS2 capable of playing it or use PCSX2 or whatever, it's such a great game.

2 is good but missing a bit too much of what made me love the original.
