Who in your opinion is the worst Straw Hat (One Piece)?

Brook never clicked with me. For most of his initial presence in the SH he was nothing but comic relief, a step below Chopper, who at least functions as a doctor and now, thanks to his power up, muscle. Now he's kind of a second-rate Zoro with vaguely defined 'spirit power.'

Also I hate the Haki shit, you already had really cool, unique powers and then you introduce a pretty generic "Ki"-type ability set.

I don't really have an issue with any of the strawhats. Well, I'm not really a fan of what's happened to Sanji since the time skip. I've got no idea what has gotten into Oda when it comes to how his character has been treated recently.

You realize all haki does is make logia-types beatable right? If two people with haki go at it the fight plays out like it normally would. All it does other than that is separate the scrubs from the legit powers.

And the thing keeping Usopp from garbage tier is that he is garbage tier but keeps fighting anyway.
He's not even that anymore really. He's the fourth wheel on the Strawhats currently and does things that no one else on the crew is capable of doing that is necessary. If it wasn't for him sniping Sugar for example both Luffy and Law would've been dormant toys and Doflamingo would've won his battle.

Really?

I kinda like Haki, especially when it comes to some of the more unique ways it's applied, such as
Gear Fourth: Boundman
.

Plus, there had to be SOME way to deal with Logia users. Rubber Luffy was never going to be able to deal with any of the Admirals, for example. Crocodile had a pretty easily defined weakness and Enel was the luck of the draw, but how the hell do you counter light?

Spoilers above juuuuust in case.

Usopp above everyone.

I stopped watching the show because I hated him so much.

I don't think he needs to be in the show at all and If/when he dies I will marathon the show from the beginning just off of the knowledge that the show will get better.

Fuck Usopp

Usopp is a better character than lightning

There would be no way for Luffy to take on half the logia users without something like this. It would get really convoluted if he basically had to have a Crocodile style fight every single time he ran into one.

I'm not a huge fan of Haki, but it hasn't really been used as an asspull quite yet. Sure, it gets rid of fodder, but so far it just seems to be a "power check" for two guys. Luffy still had to get creative to beat Doflamingo.

Remember Sanji in Alabasta? Remember how neat it was when he was Mr Prince and rescued everyone from Crocodile's prison?

I literally cannot imagine current Sanji doing that. Like he'd instead see a pair of boobs and completely self-destruct until he exsanguinates from a nosebleed.

Case in point, him pulling the gun on Robin.

Haki feels like a necessary thing that should have been introduced sooner in some capacity. I know it was foreshadowed, but it felt kinda like in Hunter x Hunter where the power everyone uses after a certain point that is gamebreakingly OP has never been mentioned by name until the main characters start to learn about it.

He fought off Donflamingo in the last arc while getting Nami, Chopper and Brook to safety so they could start the second part of the plan and then fired on Big Mom's ship when she showed up and got in the way.

I will still have to go with Brook. He just feels really out of place since he joined right before the split happened, and hasn't had a single form of character growth since. Though the time skip really damaged Sanji (Now useless due to his trauma and is used for comic relief way to often), Nami (literally is only used for fanserivce...) and Robin (who never appears at all even though she wasn't even stuck on the boat).

All this Sanji hate got me feeling some kinda way.

I'm of the opinion there are no bad Strawhats, but the 'worst' probably goes to Brook because he hasn't gotten much of a chance to do anything. I liked his stuff on Thriller Bark a lot, but all the Strawhats that weren't Luffy got pushed aside for about 100 chapters the very next arc. Then we went directly into the timeskip, and none of the other Strawhats have really been the focus really. We never got to see much of Brook interacting with the crew and we never got a chance to let him grow on us.

I think I'd have to pick Nami, followed by Brook. Nami because she's become fanservice and I've always detested her personality; the anime trope of the angry shouty girl that keeps the idiots in line. Brook isn't actually someone I dislike at all, he just feels like he hasn't been fully worn in as a Strawhat yet. IMO, that's because we haven't seen him suffer for the crew quite yet. At least not to the same degree as someone like Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, or Robin. Third is Sanji because his gag on being unable to fight women got worn thin real long ago.

I don't know. I think Thriller Bark and everything around Marineford were great. I'll give you some of the stuff after the timeskip though.

True there were some good moments, after timeskip...eeehhh im reading the chapters but im so fucking over the dressrosa arc.

Despite reading this, I barely can recall it in my mind other than Doflamingo absolutely destroying Sanji.

Probably doesn't help he and the others then disappeared from the manga for what feels like a century.

I like Sanji even if he has some annoying attributes (like his serious nosebleed syndrome or w/e it's called, and that he has made no discernible improvement to his cooking skill).

Brooke is probably the worst due to his lack of consistency regarding anything (except the tired panties joke). Ok, you're a bard so you've got the music, cool. oh wait no you've got a random ice sword thing cool. oh wait you've got out of body scouting. oh wait...

none of them were particularly cool either. And yet I still don't really hate him he is just kinda there.I really liked the arc that introduced him too.

I'll have to go with Sanji, if only because he's been a huge disappointment since the timeskip. Or Thriller Bark, really. I would say the Kalifa fight, but at least the Jabra fight made up for that a bit, though the former was a dire hint of the future.

Though as this thread has pointed out, it really feels like most of the Straw Hats have lost much of their appeal after the timeskip. Luffy and Zoro are fine, I suppose, though Zoro has been pretty one-note. Nami has done nothing of note other than take out some scrubs and act as fanservice. Usopp had that entire God Usopp thing, but before that was the part where he was completely willing to abandon the other Straw Hats when he forgot who Franky was; plus, the way he defeated Sugar the first time, while funny, really doesn't reflect well on him. He didn't do much in the arcs before that, either. Chopper hasn't done anything of note, and of course, as soon as he got control of Monster Chopper, that form has only been useful against scrubs. Robin hasn't done anything of note, and her design has gotten the biggest downgrade (in the anime, which gave her dark skin pre-timeskip). Franky's design has gotten worse, and I'm kind of disappointed by how his fighting style is nothing but "do something weird". Brook maybe has actually gotten better, due to his fighting style becoming more unique, but he still hasn't really done anything of note.

I'm currently halfway through the Thriller Bark story arc (I started watching the anime last year) so I can't comment on Brooke yet. However, I kinda have to agree with folks on Sanji. He can have his cool moments, But then it's "NA-MEEEEE!" and he turns into a sexist idiot. Not only that, Zoro pushes himself and trains every day so it's believable that he's super strong. We never see Sanji train, but he somehow gets new techniques out of nowhere to keep him as part of the super strong trio.

Ussop is by far my favorite. Despite being a coward, he does try his best and is getting better with his sniping skills. His arc in Water7/Enies Lobby was my favortie thing in One Piece ever. I liked it so much, I ended up buying a Sniper King figure.

I can't hate Chopper he's too adorable. He does need to be a better fighter though and it doesn't make sense for him to constantly be in that Teddy Bear mode. Especially when running as his legs are at their tiniest. Does it require more focus for him to be in human or deer mode? I love his "little brother" friendship with Ussop and awe'd when he asked for the Sniper King's autograph.

Nami's turning into a slutty cocktease. Changes in front of strange men during Water 7 and offers to show herself naked for money during Alabasta. Not to mention she always dresses skimpy. When she's in her navigator role and putting Luffy in his place, she can be a great character.

I think Robin and Franky would make a cute couple. They shared a lot during the Water 7 journey and they work great together during the Thriller Bark arc and Strong World movie. It's the tough, but soft crybaby with the most calm member of the group. She holds her emotions in while he lets them all out. Franky's a great character although his tech for the age they live in and how he repaired himself makes no sense. (I know it's a fantasy world and I love the transponder snails, but the tech of it's world is all over the place.)

I love all the straw hats and their personalities. I feel they're all interesting and excellently written for the most part. If I had one problem it would be how gimped Robin is. She seemed so strong and mysterious when we first met her and was interesting up until the end of Enies Lobby. We could have at least had one kick ass strong female right on the team... I'm annoyed at her treatment overall. I like that each of the straw hats have roles and not all are meant for fighting, but Robin has always felt like she was so much more. Even story wise... It's like we only get glimpses of the bigger picture with her.

Nami's not bad, it's just that she hasn't had any shine on her since she first joined the strawhats, and her abilities have largely gone to waste. Same problem Robin faced after Enies Lobby, tbh. Doesn't make them bad, just underutilized.

Wow at the Chopper hate. He has he best backstory, they even made a movie for his arc.

Worst is by far Brook. Useless addition and the most annoying character.

Brook immediately comes to mind, which is hard for me to say, as I think he one of the more (visually) pleasing designs in the series that has rarely been utilized. I mean, he's a skeleton with a cotton candy afro that is a musical prodigy. How cool is that?!

Sanji is a core member of the team due to his fighting abilities. Unlike luffy or zorro he does it with pure skill and without weapons or devil fruits. Also he is someone who is always rational, analyzing (similar to nico robin) and sees the big picture.

So no he is far from shitty.

Usopp was the shittiest member for a long time but after him rejoining and significantly upping his game Post-time skip I wouldnt call him The shittiest anymore.

I dont think any strawhat is shitty.

Yeah getting nico robin to be a strawhat was the most exciting thing that happened in the whole series. However at the moment she is not shown as the cold blooded killer she was in the previous arcs. Arguably her abilities are still one of the strongest though.

Gotta agree with the people saying Brook.

Useless addition to the crew and never really manage to do much. Plus his shtick (LOL talking skeleton!) got old pretty fast.

Brook is the most pointless and fits in least.

New big armed Franky's design looks like a fucking retarded cyborg popeye and I hate him.

Brook hasn't done anything special. Not even in the arc he was introduced in. I also feel like he's the weakest of the bunch. Nami may be weaker but at least she's somewhat smart.

However, most the strawhats have been gimped. Chopper, Nami, Robin, and Sanji. Chopper's design is just fucked. So is Nami's and she's so weak that they can't put her up against anyone anymore. Robin hasn't had an actual fight since Skypeia. Sanji was put in the back burner for Law (but this will change).

Usopp is great and always has been great. Franky is cool but his design is an eyesore. Zoro is Zoro. Luffy is actually developing.

Dude when Luffy used King Haki that shit was dope! :D

Stopped watching One Piece ages ago Fishman island was NOT to my liking, going back and watching Pre Enies Lobby - onwards. Seeing Usope struggle to save Merry, best shit ever.

I can't be the only one who cried during the Merry funeral. :( Like even to this day it gets to be me.

Sanji, I guess. I would have said Brooke at first but I actually like his design, unlike Sanji's.

Just look at Brooke here:

And I like how colourful he dresses.

And his punchlines.

He looks sooo cool. Way better then Sanji who has a pretty lame design (and now a lame beard too after the timeskip).
