Who is NOT buying a Wii U?

Depends what you mean. I won't be buying at launch but certainly at the point where price is right compared to the games. Buying Wii at the launch scarred me for life.

Nope, even played P-100 (which was pretty fun) and Batman w/e (one of the worst experiences ever)

Oh okay. So, what about your gaming experience made you feel like you were playing something on Fisher Price? Was it the characters? The control scheme? Plot? The atmosphere? Others playing the game?

I will not buy until there is a new Galaxy or new Mario concept. I would love an open world Mario game that really tests your platforming abilities. That might get me to buy a Wii U at $199.99.

I'm not.

Too much is still unknown about 3rd party support and how nintendo's network will work with games. Plus, I want to see what Sony and MS will have to offer in comparison when the PS4/720 release.

I'm not willing to own multiple consoles this coming gen. I'm gonna wait and see which console fits my needs the best.

Since I've already heavily invested into XBL in all likelihood I'll be going with the 360 successor.

Perhaps you should read his post again. It was about 3 and a 1/2 lines, maybe 25 words or so. Shouldn't take too long. I'll help:

Weight, button placement, build quality.......it felt like a fisher price toy

Hint: he wasn't talking about the gameplay or X game when referencing Fisher Price.

I wont be buying any of the next gen consoles until a specific game or feature entices me to. Wii U doesnt have anything announced that fits that bill yet. Star Fox or Metroid would probably do it, though. Unfortunately, for the nextbox it would be Alan Wake and that looks very likely for launch window

I don't buy consoles at launch unless it's to resell to take advantage of day-1 suckers. :)

But I haven't done that since the PS3 and I won't do it this time either. Just not worth my time.

I'll have one eventually probably since I have young children but for me personally the Wii U is just not attractive. I have a PC that is already about 5 years ahead of the not yet released Wii U, but I might get a new Xbox/PS4 someday down the road. But again, none of them at launch.

I have one pre-ordered with the intent to sell it or cancel the pre-order. There's nothing remotely interesting about the launch.

I was considering doing this but I'd feel like an ass, I still might who knows. It would at the least pay for a Wii U. I'm sure you could get 600+ for it which would pay for one and get your money back, most likely near a thousand.

There's definitely not enough in the 'launch window' to interest me. I will probably get one eventually for HD Mario and Zelda, but I can wait a really long time. I'll probably get one at this time next gen.

Its looking like I won't get one at launch since I want the black one. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise hopefully by the time I get one ZombiU will be at a bomba price.

Feel like I outgrew Nintendo first party games after the NES/SNES.

Did it hurt?

I'm waiting on the first great game, particularly since the save and VC transfer system is currently a joke. I hope it's Pikmin 3, but I've never considered the series as good as a Mario, Zelda or Smash Bros, so we'll see. I think Wonderful 101 might be that game, but I have a feeling we won't be seeing that until next summer.

Nope, not playing much consoles in general and most of my time has moved to PC. Not much of a fan of Mario stuff and so far Zombie U is the only exclusive that looks like it could be interesting. Outside of that the system is going to just get tons of multiplatform ports that everyone is getting so don't see a reason to get one now. And the Wii was a big mistake purchase for me, only a few games I got for it but it mostly collected dust while I spent all my time with PS3/360/PC.

Why would you be an ass for doing that? If anyone wants to ridicule you for doing that then just show them your stack of hundreds from re-selling and laugh at them. I did the same thing when the Wii was going nuts since I knew someone who could hold a couple on the side for me when the shipment came. Made about $600 in profit before he couldn't get any more without risking his job.

I figured this thread would come up by some point.

Definitely a shorter thread than asking the other way around.

I'm not getting it within their launch window for sure at least. It's $50 too much for another console that will depend on what Nintendo buys into for support.

Someone needs to program polling software for GAF, institute a mandatory survey every 3-6 months, and include questions like this. Threads like this are worthless if they don't sample all of GAF. If they did, at least we could make claims about what GAF, in aggregate, thinks. Still wouldn't generalize to the general gaming population, but it could be helpful in some way.

It might also cut down on dumb discussions based on completely haphazard observations about what the GAF hivemind thinks.

Before I choose I want to se what Sony and Microsoft have to offer.
Also, if I would buy a WiiU this will happen at the end of 2013. I think that Microsoft will launch with the same prices that 360 had back in 2005 (300 and 400 dollars), so Nintendo will have to cut the price at 249 at least.
Probably by the end of the gen i will buy all of them, but only one before 2015.

You're in the middle of a gaming event, with Batman in your face, and the only thing you can think about is Fisher Price? BS lol

I don't plan to ever buy one, but I'm also hoping they change my mind on that. It has been a long time since I've given a shit about a Nintendo console, but it sure would be nice if they gave me a reason to.

It's not a money issue for me. I just don't see the point of the Wii U.

For one, it's not that powerful. And most of all I don't want to have to wade through a ton of irrelevant obligatory garbage like the motion controls and the wii u pad screen to get to a good clean game. Why would I want to look away from the TV to do shit, I don't get it.

It's just my personal opinion though, and I'm actually glad Nintendo is still around. It's good that we have that kind of diversity in the industry.

What's the point of this thread?

For people to discuss why they don't want to buy a Wii U.. It is a interesting topic - As long as people don't just write cheap one-liners.

Yeah I know, capitalism and all that. Doesn't it feel a bit sleezy, though? ...knowing that a soccer mom probably couldn't find one for her kid for Xmas cause d-bags like us were reselling them for a grand a pop. But then again, it's a lot of money and I doubt the soccer mom gives a shit about us.

I was just saying he was talking about the physical feel and look of the controller not any game. Rereading that post I came off like an ass, my bad.

Most receivers made in the last couple of years have HDMI.

I think it goes something like this:

2006: What? No HD? At least 2 guys on my block have HDTV's!
2012: What? SS receiver with HDMI? Only 2 guys on my block have one of those!

Not at launch, hell no. Not a single game I would buy a system for. The one game I'm interested in playing is Mario, but at the same time... it's Mario, I can wait.

When Bayonetta 2 comes out, then I'll start to think about it, and hopefully by then, more games will have either come out, or will be announced, to make the package more appealing.

Not planning on buying any console this generation.

1. Multiplatform is here to stay. I expect there to be fewer exclusives worth owning hardware for this generation.

2. Each generation of consoles moves them a few steps closer to being black-box PCs you can't upgrade.

Long story short, instead of buying new consoles this generation I'll buy a new videocard. With all the money that saves me I'll think about a Vita, perhaps, for those situations where a PC is impractical.

Now arguably, Nintendo will keep all of their stuff exclusive but it has been over a decade since I cared about Nintendo franchises so not an issue.

No sense is trying to reason with Noshino, he's a huge Sony fanboy and dislikes Nintendo.

Trust me, I've met him before. We even went to this ga.... nevermind.
