Wander from Shadow of the Colossus.

Some people hate him (for obvious reasons) but i think he is one of the most tragic figures in video game history.Because he is human he lets his emotions (love and desperation) to cloud his judgement yet it is this imperfection that makes him all the more relatable as a character for me.While he continues his quest he knows that

he is sacrificing his humanity

yet he keeps moving onwards.His strength doesn't come from superhuman powers but from a man's determination.
All this may sound a bit overdramatic but for me Wander really is the definition of a hero.

He's a tragic hero, he'd do whatever it's neccessary to save the world... but he's no boy scout either, he will accept the pleasures of the flesh and give in to the power that is given to him. His strife to manipulate knowledge beyond his comprension by sheer force of will and inteligence pared with his own motivations and selfish reasons are just admirable, truly a masterpiece in character writing.
