Who still didn't get their Driver's License yet?

25 and I don't have mine yet but I think I have a valid reason:

I was taking lessons and had a test or two before I moved away from home for 2 years to do a course, since I had to quit my job and was living on student loan money for a while I could not afford to take more tests, also I lived in an area I did not know at the time.

Then after that I moved thurther away from home to take a 3 year course in 3D games art, too busy to take on work and another area I did not know... plus my car would be stolen around here anyway :lol I also live in a 10 story flat and there is no parking space worth shit anywhere.

Now that I have finished all that and I find some work this year I can resume my driving tests. Already own a car (Citroen Saxo 4door in black) and at one point had my theory passed but that will have expired by now.

I'm 20 and have only driven a car aprox. 10 meters.

I don't really need a license though, although it would be nice to have it 'just in case'.

It took me a long time to get my full license. I took the whole 5 year period to do it. :lol

G1 - Failed 1
G2 - Failed 2
G - Failed 2

Spent way to much money for the all lessons and examinations.

I really should buy a car but since I'm so use to public transportation (TTC), I never got around to it. =\

I didn't get mine until I was 19, but I usually had my permit on me so I still drove a lot.

Never really cared as everything around my old house was within walking distance, but once I got to college, I decided to finally get my license.

I got my license shortly after my 21st birthday. Picked up a learner's permit and got 100% on the written test to get it. Two weeks of practice (really about 4 hours of driving), I got my license.

I really had no need for it prior. My parents never let me drive their cars in high school and I lived in Chicago for college and I took the CTA. I needed one for a car for a job for when I graduated a few months later.

I got mine at 19.

I was scared to drive.

I still don't like driving and only do it to get to school and back.

I got mine when I was like 21 or some crazy sh*t.

I always rode the bus or subway and I was always central to the places I frequented. I was also broke, or preferred to spend my monies on other things.

Then I hooked with a girl who had a car, she let me drive that someb*tch everywhere...

I started to realize that I was missing out on a lot my not having some wheels and so I got my license.

I wish I would have done so much earlier.

I also didn't grow up with a car, always had public transportation. As a matter of fact, when my older sister bought her car, it was like a big deal, LOL!! :lol :lol :lol

I've been driving with a license for a good ten years now and have ZERO tickets or accidents, I'm gangsta like that. I still have love for my mass transit folks though. Keep it moving yo!

Just got my G2 last week. Didn't fail either test once.

It seems everyone around me is getting their license or their first car, I am 20 and finally started thinking about getting it, my younger brother (17) already got his first car and I got to say I feel a bit jelous.

I have the learner's test on April 14, after that I have to wait 8 months I believe to take the road test.

Are there other gaffers who don't have their license yet?
Do you live in Ottawa? Go get your G2 at Canotech. It's impossible to fail considering all the mistakes I thought I made. They just took me through a residential street and it was over in 5 minutes.

I worked for a car dealership for 3 years. I can park anything.

I worked for dealers twice. Once as a shuttle driver, once as a salesman. I managed to back a car into a pole at both jobs. :lol Never done that with any of my personal cars.

Been driving with a flawless record for 15 years. Not even a parking ticket. Which one of you bitches need a ride?

Got mine when I was 18, needed it for driving company cars, nothing else.

But outside of THE CITY it comes in handy.

24, no license, no need. UK is perfectly navigatable via train and bus, especially if living in city. On the rare occasion I need direct transortation somewhere, go halves with someone on a cab.

A car is such a massive bill at the end of the day that I can't afford nor want to afford yet.

I didn't get mine until I was 23. I really wish I hadn't waited.

To anyone else out there waiting: just go get it. You'll be glad you did.

Well I put it off for a really damn long time (18 here) but I finally just got mine on the 29th of last month :lol I've had a car for a while before that though. Honestly driving was never fun for me and thus I never cared but once I started driving stick, that made a huge difference lol. So much fun now :D

Almost 23 here. Only reason I'm even thinking about going and getting one shortly is that I'm being forced to renew my "permit" since it expired about a week ago. I don't drive, don't own a car, and don't plan on buying a car. Too expensive when you add in insurance and gas and whatnot really (well at least it is for me).

Believe it or not there are a ton of people who are simply too afraid of driving. I know people in their 30's that are just getting the courage to go for it and mainly becuase there is no other choice.

I got my learners at 14, regular drivers license at 16, and class 1 license at 21(can drive anything but motorcycle). I've had my license for a little over 7 years(jeeze i'm getting old) and have driven over 400,000 kms.

How can you NOT want a drivers license? Haven't you ever wanted to go on a road trip? rent a car with a couple friends and just drive somewhere? Last month me and a friend of mine rented a car, drove to vegas, then out to the west coast, then back. 6000km round trip, fun as hell.

You all don't know what you're missing.

I still don't have mine and I'm almost 22. I don't like driving but I live in America so I don't have much of a choice... gonna have to get that done soon.

Yes I do, road trips are not fun at all, especially through most of America. Corn, Cotton and Grain.

Now an Amtrak trip with your girlfriend and a bedroom and the view outside starts to suck... :D

you must all get different tests for your license, 15 i took a written test to get my learners. 16 took a written and a driving test.

my test consisted:
turning car on, testing blinkers etc.
driving....
stopping
u-turn

an thats about it, no parallel parking although i could have easily, even at 16

No, driving sucks. Being in a car used to never put me to sleep. Driving does.

23 now, don't have one, don't plan on getting one. Absolutely no desire to drive here in NYC at all, nor do I really need it elsewhere. Only reason I can imagine ding it is for work purposes or when I start to travel a lot.

I didn't get my license and first car till a few months short of turning 21. The only problem is, I think insurance companies look at how long you've been driving, not actual age so I think my insurance skews higher than people my age that got their license earlier.

I'm 30, and I still only have my learner's permit. I use it mostly for ID.

I tried for my full license once, didn't pass, and haven't had the motivation to try again since. Driving is expensive (car, insurance, gas, parking), and I get pretty much everywhere I need with transit.

Don't get your license. Don't do it. I hate driving. All I do is speed and run red lights because I have no patience for stupid ass stop signs and stupid "incoming traffic". Whatevs.

A lot of Ontariens here, I see.

I don't see why you'd wait. In Ontario, the G1 is a trivial 40 question multiple choice exam (20 on rules, 20 on signs). You can have up to 4 wrong answers in each 20q section. A few hours of studying the handbook, and you shouldn't have any problem passing.

G2 is easy. Just make mirror use obvious, signal, and blindside check at the appropriate times. The only harder parts are parallel parking, and things like knowing what direction to turn your wheels on an incline.

For the G, just make sure you have an idea of the route the tester will make you take. You'll go on the highway, so just practice it before hand so you know where you're going when you're doing the test.

The earlier you get your license, the earlier your insurance premiums drop, don't they? Anyone in Ontario knows how ridiculous insurance prices are, so it's to your advantage. Take driving courses as well...they pay themselves off in a year or two.

Yeah I hear Canotek is a joke, even for the G, since there is no 417 nearby.

I took my G2 test at Walkley, and my G test in Gloucester (I forget the road).

edit: maybe I did take it at Canotek...What center am I thinking of that's not near the 417?

I never failed, but I took my G test 2 days before my license was expiring from the 5 year issue date. I was so scared I'd fail, since I'd have to redo the entire thing over again. :lol

I live in a big city with a very good mass transit system. I didn't get my license until I was 31. I bought a stick shift car last september that I don't know how to drive. :lol I figured that since I waited so long to get a car I might as well man up and learn how to drive stick. All I need to do now is get off my lazy ass and get someone to teach me. :^P

I'm almost 20 and don't have my license yet.. I didn't have anyone to help teach me to drive till not too long ago. So I think I should be getting it soon. Just need to convince my mom to help me drive around in her car a bit and go take the test in it. Can't wait to get a license.. Can't even get a job right now when my options are so limited.

Anyone here never driven a car at all?

I've always loved cars so it really stung when I found out I'd never be able to drive. I guess it's not so bad though, I just feel bad bumming rides off everyone. :lol

By the way, Miami is the largest city with the worst public transportation system in the US. South Florida as a whole sucks for public stransportation. Just so happens a guy like me lives here; the irony!

I'm 19 and I don't have a license yet. I can't be arsed to pay for the lessons 'just yet'. Uni will be starting soon and I'll be living there.

I still use the bus even though I have a license. I got mine around 19, but I hate driving, always think the cars going to break down.

It's good to get here even if you don't drive a lot as it helps lower your insurance rates with a guaranteed clean driving record.

Ive decided im gonna go get my permit next week. I want some experience under my belt before I attempt to get my license. Is the written test that difficult?

The written test is easy as hell. I never studied and only missed one question.

And there's no reason to not have you license unless you live in a city that has great public transportation. Being over 20 and not having a driver's license screams "I'm a huge nerd." How are you going to take girls out on dates? You can't order that off Amazon.

22 and don't have one. its stupid because where i live in australia is in the middle of fucking nowhere.

That's what I'm doing. I'm terrified by the idea of driving, and I've put it off to avoid it. Although, it hasn't helped out too much.

Got mine when I turned 18 although I already knew how to drive at that age. It's a necessity now in my new city where walking or taking the bus would just complicate things for me.

Gonna turn 27 and still don't have mine. My mom never drove, my dad got rid of his car a long time ago, and he never lifted the finger when I was younger to make me realize I should get my licenses, just like he never told me about shaving, or women (except that they are crazy). Then when I was like "dad, I need to practice driving a car or something before I pass the tests or take the classes" he went "cars are too expensive, it's a waste of money, why do you need a license?". That's pretty much it.

Since I haven't need a car and don't want one due to expenses, I never bothered to. But I should.

I feel like a guy with no license is a like a guy with no dick:p

Why wouldn't you get a drivers license? Even if you didn't have a car it is damn handy in America, and is practically the main form of identification for... everything. As soon as I could get my learners permit at 15 I did.
