I failed my test for the third time this past Thursday :(

First attempt: Failed reversing around a bend due to not looking around enough and being too far away from the curb.

Second attempt: Was fine until the end. Essentially, another student had gone just before me on her test, and bay parked to finish it off. She went over the left line quite a bit, going into the bay I always used to park in when practising the maneuver. Unfortunately I instinctively went into that bay, and the person testing me stopped me halfway through due to worry I'd go into the car next to me (though both me and my instructor thought I wouldn't) and failed because of that silly mishap. The worst thing? I didn't have to, but I let that car go before me into the test centre!

Third attempt: Went too slowly (no, really). I always drive a bit slower on the tests just to be cautious and not go over the speed limit, guess I went too far the other way.

I can't tell you how infuriating it is to hear "I'm sorry but you haven't passed your test" due to some silly, easily avoidable error every time. I just want to get this all out of the way!
Ouch. Good luck next time man, sounds like just bad luck.

Well it is Pomona dude! lol I swear. My cousin lives there and I always go and visit...I just don't see how any of the businesses there can be successful. It just looks dead. :(

I literally passed my test yesterday

Congratulations!

Chicks dig cars GAF, most of these girl-age threads wouldn't exist if you bastards just had a sweet ride.

Scary side note - I was standing in line to get my license renewed the other day, and this foreign dude in front of me couldn't even read a screen that asked him if he wanted to be an organ donor. The guy at the desk had to talk him through it, even though he could hardly speak english. He was then handed his renewed license. WTF

I have my written test done for a few years now. I can't take my road test because my mum never got her license and can't teach me, and my dad drinks all day. I'd like to finally get it, but even with my drivers test done, I wouldn't be able to afford a car, insurance and gas anyways.

Well, I use public transports to go to work. I don't "need" a car so I never got my liscense and never bought a car.

I own a BBQ though so chicks still dig me.

.

I'm 21 and I don't have mine. But, I really plan to get it this year.

I would've gotten it a few years ago, but once I started going to college in Boston, public trans became pretty much the only sensible way to get around. It's delayed my necessity to get a license, though I do realize that at some point being able to drive a car around will definitely make certain trips more convenient.

But really, I should just go out and get the damn thing as soon as possible. I have a valid permit that doesn't expire for a long time, and I've already completed driving school. It's just a matter of laziness at this point, though, admittedly, the car I wanted to use for the road test suddenly has a bad transmission, and the other one is being used by my brother all day. It's a quagmire.

That said, I don't see how anyone could fail any of the written tests. Each one is a joke that can be passed easily with a once-through of the Driver's Manual's middle chapters.

Good luck to the both of you! You guys are going to pass it!

Report back for the results so I can officially welcome the both of you into the club!

lol, thanks man. I actually just ended up getting my permit. I wanna practice alittle bit before I go for my license. The written test was easy as hell.

I'm 21 and don't have one. Don't really have a need for it, as I live in the UK.

However I should be moving to the USA in the next 6-18 months, so I'll learn once I'm over there, because if I'm moving back to somewhere like Texas or Oklahoma I am screwed.

I live in Stockholm and public transportation here is so good that I don't really need a car. So I have not gotten a license yet because of it. I do plan to get it eventually.

I got my license at 17 on my first go.

I haven't driven at all since then, though! I hate driving. Except in videogames where it's encouraged to run over people.

People from places like Toronto and New York really don't NEED to drive all that much. We have very available public transportation, and if you're a broke ass like me, driving just seems like too much of a hassle. 22 No license, but I am thinking about it - kinda useful for ID.

31 and no license. I live in Toronto and I've never felt like I've needed one in my life. The extra cost of insurance/gas doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm 20 and I only have my learner's permit. Because of working and college, I never had the time to learn to drive until recently. Also, before I couldnt afford a car. Now that I can, my friend is teaching me and I hope to have my license by August.

Yeah im planning on going for my driver's test in early August. I figured i'd take the rest of June and July practicing. Im definitely gonna be needing to drive to class in late August and whatnot.

im from DFW so it's pretty much a must to have a license to do anything. got my license on my 16th birthday

but in the future, i want to move to a real city where i could just walk or use the train everywhere without a car

It seems everyone around me is getting their license or their first car, I am 20 and finally started thinking about getting it, my younger brother (17) already got his first car and I got to say I feel a bit jelous.

I have the learner's test on April 14, after that I have to wait 8 months I believe to take the road test.

Are there other gaffers who don't have their license yet?
20? :lol :lol :lol

i'm 30, had my first learner's permit at 18 and just never took the road test.

my new learner's permit expires in 2010, maybe i'll have my license before then!

or maybe not, there's really no reason to drive in NYC.
