Who's buying a Wii U at launch window?

I want one so I can replace my Wii and change my setup. I'm also interested in a few game and Nintendo always gets exclusives that I like so it doesn't hurt me.As long as I get double my purchase worth in games by the end of a systems like I'm satisfied with it.

It's about $50 more than I'd like it to be. However, I fully expect it to be on sale during the holidays which means I'll probably get it during launch window -- especially if I have some extra gift cards lying around.

No launch Zelda or "proper" Mario = no sale for me. What ever happened to consoles launching with must have brand mascot titles?

N64 + Mario 64 = day 1 purchase for me
Dreamcast + Sonic Adventure = day 1 purchase for me
Xbox + Halo = day 1 purchase for me
Playstation + Ridge Racer = day 1 purchase for me

etc.

So no.

New Super Mario bros. U is more a proper Mario than Mario 64...

The lack of any info regarding online play is devastating for games like Fifa,Blops2,Tekken,AC3,etc...
That really ruined the entire launch for me.

you don't think that info will be available before the launch?

i'm not saying the info will be good, mind you, but it's silly to say that it ruined the launch at this point.

anyway, i will stick to my new policy not to buy any new hardware until after the first price drop, if even then (sole exception would be a console with Shenmue III).

Buying three.

One Deluxe for myself and two Basics as Christmas gifts for family members.

If I can afford it, yes.

However I admit it's a bit lukewarm in terms of content.

Is Wii Fit U a launch title? Probably not, right?
Mario and Nintendo Land are must buys for me.

I found out that NSMB and every other currently announced first-party game (and possibly third-party as well) do not support more than one gamepad. That's pretty much the nail in the coffin. Kids (and adults) fighting over who gets to use the gamepad sounds annoying. I pictured my girlfriend and I both playing with a gamepad. This is a serious fuck up.

Looks like I will be after the announcements today.

Edit: Just saw dat price. Looks like I'[ll wait at least until Bayonnetta or MH 3G are out.

Gonna wait for bayonetta and smash before hopping in.

I know it's Nintendo, but its still a launch hd system. Gonna wait for the kinks to iron out.

I would usually say, wait for E3, but Nintendo seems to enjoy saving their bombs for Direct.

So currently, I'm on standby.

I am really iffy on the Wii-U, I think it's overpriced for what you get but I am tempted for just the virtual console use of it since I can transfer all my Wii Virtual Console games to it.

I will be pre-ordering the Premium Bundle when I get off work today. I have like $250 in credit and probably another $100 in games to go towards the purchase.

Probably, although I won't be pre-ordering or anything. The's a balancing act between the attactiveness of the Wii U Pad vs the fact there are no launch games I want to play.

Just came back from GameStop (NYC). I normally only do mom and pop but I wanted to be sure I could get one midnight launch. Apparently a lot of them are getting only 10 per store, and if you go to different stores to buy more than one, you'll have to use different names as the system will cancel your pre order to prevent the whole ebay scheme. Obviously it's easily circumvented, but just a heads up for those looking to by more than one for more noble reasons

lolololol @ people saying that NSMB isn't a "mascot title" when the last three games in that series have sold over 55 million copies.

After seeing the Japanese price for it (13,440 yen, which probably means $150 US) I wouldn't be buying an extra one any way. NoA not announcing the pricing of the controller was really telling.

by the time i want one it'll be out of date. seriously none of the launch games do it for me...

no thank you nintendo. not this time. MAYBE when one hits the 150-200 range just to replace my wii.... but i actually want to keep my wii to catch up on all the gamecube stuff I missed

It'll be the very first console I buy at launch and to reserve it for only 25 down? I can dig that. I really want to play that new Mario. Merry Christmas to me.

Wasn't bothered before, but Bayonetta has tipped me over the edge.
Zombie U looks cool and Mario U looks like a successor to SMW, so Premium pack is pre-ordered.

It's the lack of info on the online service and rollout of gamecube titles to the VC keeping me from being interested yet.

When I know those though...maybe.

Not in the launch window since there are too many titles coming out for other systems that I need cash for. Will probably get it once the software library fills out a bit more.

I'm not trying to troll here, I'm 31 years old. I've grown up with Nintendo, I love Nintendo. I just seriously wish they'd stop adding stupid gimmicks to their games. I would love to sit down and play a 720p Mario game with a freaking two button NES controller. I don't want touch screens, I don't want to shake shit at the screen, I just want to enjoy the game.

I loved Rayman Origins, but I'm seriously turned off by the touch screen mechanics. I feel like I'm getting the same vibe from all the Wii-U games I've seen so far. It's like, this game looks like it would be so awesome without all the "Wii" shit. I don't know, I have the deluxe pre-ordered and I'm sure I'll get it and a few games, it's just seriously hard to get as excited for this as I was for the Wii. I don't think the Wii mechanics ultimately won me over (I have about 30 Wii games) and I was kind of hoping for a little bit more of a return to traditional gaming here.

Again, not trolling and it's completely just my personal opinion.

If I found out you could eventually download Wind Waker from the online store I would go and preorder it right this instant. I would really like to have all the mainline Zelda games available between the Wii U and 3DS.

Definitely going for the "deluxe" edition. Might just wait until after christmas to get one, though.
