Who's buying a Wii U at launch window?

I sat out the original DS, the 3DS, and that's about it since the N64 launch. I'll be sitting out the Wii U, most likely. I really don't feel like paying 350 for a console with a bunch of ports and games I'm not that interested in playing right away. I don't like Platinum games; I thought Bayonetta was stupid and a waste of time; I'm done with the Call of Duty series, and if I did want to play it, I could on the 360 or PS3; Monster Hunter isn't for me; Epic Mickey 2 and Raymond look neat, but I can wait; Skylanders looks stupid; NintendoLand seems like a boring and ugly tech demo; I really don't like the slowness and sluggishness of Mario and his jumping abilities in the New Super Mario Bros games, so NSMB:U, despite being a Mario game, doesn't phase me. Other than those, I don't know what's coming out that is unique to the system.

That, and with the 3DS XL finally becoming an interesting system, I may spend my time on that instead (hoping for holiday price drop or good deals).

I have some time to think about it before Amazon puts up a preorder page (since I'm not an idiot and won't be stepping foot in a GameStop), so I'll think about it, but I don't know.

Definitely not buying at launch.

I might not buy for a while if the Online system is lacking.

If smash, metroid, or Fzero drop though, I might not be able to resist.

I'm getting it, but I'm still unsure about the version. I want a white one, but I really want the GamePad dock. For a few $$ more, I get NintendoLand and more memory...

for pikmin 3 and p-100? sure why not.

then i'll pick up bayo 2 at a later time. i also have some wii games i didn't complete yet.

Eh, at a minimum of $300, I can see this heading for a 3DS-style price drop after a few months. It'll get the standard launch bump of course, unless supply is somehow restricted, but it's tough to see it standing up after the holidays, considering the stiff competition that it faces.

Which is?

Day 1 for me. What can I say, I'm a collector, I'm gonna get it anyway, and I can make the excuse that it's for the kids and the Wife will be o.k. about it.

<sigh> I'm a sucker for new hardware launches.

I'm not totally concerned with the price. I will buy the WiiU (I've owned every Nintendo device since NES) and I'm a big fan... just not yet. I'll probably buy sometime early next year when there are more games I'm into and Nintendo starts releasing some bigger titles.

I will also probably decide to pre-order and then not pre-order about 20 times between now and launch.

It entirely depends on Microsoft.

I have a flexible budget of $500+ for this holiday...If the Surface tablet is around $200/300 then I'll get the Wii U. If it's $400+ then I'll just stick with the Surface.

Definetly a pre-order for me.
Looks like everything i ever hoped(almost) for and HURRAH for wiimote compability with CODBLOPS2. Dual Stick users will cry when my wrist technique is back on track!!!!!

Will buy premium with 2 or 3 games.

You want 5-6 of the launch games? Really? Do you mind me asking which games?

I'm not sure which ones are launch and which ones are "before March 2013", but here ya go:

  • Rayman Legends
  • Darksiders II
  • ZombiU
  • The Wonderful 101
  • Game & Wario
  • Lego City Undercover
  • Pikmin 3
  • Nintendo Land (pack-in)
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited
  • New Super Mario Bros U
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II (maybe)
  • Epic Mickey 2 (maybe)
  • Assassin's Creed III (maybe)
  • Batman Arkham City (maybe)

I'm assuming at least 5 or 6 of those will be launch window.

Color me undecided. The system is about $100 more expensive than I anticipated, and it still hasn't proven the point of its controller. I do like how colorful Nintendo Land and NSMBU look, though -- very warm, like Christmas lights at night. :)

The main game I'm interested in is The Wonderful 101, which looks pretty damn perfect. I -should- be interested in Pikmin 3, too, given how much I loved Pikmin 2, but I don't think I'll be excited until they show more of the main campaign. The fantastical creatures and settings are always my favorite part.

There's no shortage of games to play on the other systems, really, so I'm not getting the "must-buy" vibe at the moment. First time I've felt that way about a Nintendo system in a while...

It depends. It's not really the price that's making me hesitant (although that too somewhat), but the fact that I have no closet space left. I'm going to pack up my Wii with all the games (save Xenoblade that I'm keeping for, hopefully, Gamepad play while the missus watches tv) and try to sell it. If somebody still wants to buy then yes, otherwise, maybe later.

Preordered since E3:

I'm a Nintendo fanboy :(

Pre-ordered my deluxe version this morning at my local Gamestop here in Hawaii (wish it came in white as well). Interestingly enough, it was a much different experience than when I had pre-ordered the Gamecube and Wii at my then local Gamestop in California. No line whatsoever at 9:30 AM, and the sales associates opened the door for me at 9:35 so I wouldn't have to wait. After I paid and was about to exit the store, someone else walked in to pre-order as well. Good times! However, I feel like that doesn't bode well for Nintendo this time around, though I attribute it to the fact that the announcement and pre-orders took place on the same day.

Put me down for a black model. I was originally going to wait until my daughter got a little older but with the Platinum exclusives and hopefully less emphasis on motion controls, I'm kind of excited to own my first Ninendo since the Gamecube and will pick it up this year.

I was taking the "wait and see" approach, but 2 exclusive Platinum Games titles.....

....AND ONE OF THEM IS BAYONETTA 2

They got me. Maybe not launch day, or even "launch window," (unless one of those 2 games comes out before then) but they got me.

The launch software doesn't have me jazzed, though there are some games I'm interested int, and I have no cash to spare, so I probably won't pick one up for a year. I'm interested enough in the controller that I would if I had money burning a hole in my pocket I would get one, though.

Definitely Day 1 for me.

I never bought a nintendo home console on day 1 but nowadays I think I can afford a black Wii U and 2-3 games.

Yeah, I will. I'll try to, at least. I wish the Deluxe Kit came in White, though :(

I am quite pleased with the launch (window) lineup.

I may bite when I run though my Wii backlog. Should be done with what I have in a year or so.

It's odd, I've done Nintendo systems at launch for so long now it fells strange not jumping in day one. Had I not bought a PS3 two years ago I'd probably be all over the launch.

Since US Amazon mysteriously no longer sells Nintendo hardware, I'll be waiting for Best Buy to let me do an in-store pickup to New Hampshire for the black console, NSMBU and Rayman. My mom is old-fashioned and, at my ripe old age at 25, still wants to buy me an xmas gift and hold it until the 25th. So she'll either buy it outright or pay for part of it.

I can't argue with that.

Got a deluxe set pre-ordered online at futureshop today! Will Be picking up Rayman, Mario, Pikmin for sure, and maybe Zombi U and The Wonderful 101 later on. Definitely excited about Bayonetta 2 and Monster Hunter and I hope they release the 4th one on Wii U too! Also, hope that Sega announces PSO2 for Wii U, would be a perfect fit! if not there is always Dragon Quest X down the line :)

I think I'll pick it up Day 1. I already have $100 in credit at eStarland, and plan to have another $100-150 by the time the system is out, so it'd cost me $100 for the Deluxe edition plus games (NSMBU, Rayman Legends or ZombiU)
