Who's excited for NBA Playgrounds on Switch?

From my understanding this version has no online at the launch right? Not excited at all for this. I was always wait and see with this but now I don't really care at all and will likely forget about by the time online is actually added, assuming it gets added at all.

They said they're adding it "days after launch"...

Looks like the switch version lacks player shadows and clothing
physics... other than that the capture looks like it is at 1080 / 60 fps? Not sure if that is the actual resolution.

Yikes, looking pretty rough compared to PS4. I guess that's to be expected, but IDK something like Snake Pass seems to fare better for example.

I don't get how something like Mario Kart 8D runs how it does but then you get games looking like this.

Budget, developer talent and time.

I am glade they stuck with 60 fps over 30 fps... I would assume if they shot for parity they would have had to stick with 30 fps.

If it turns out that it is 1080p 60 fps with less shadows and clothing physics I am completely ok with that. Maybe they patch some soft shadows in later after release.. But shadows and minor details arent going to kill the game for me if the gameplay is on par with an NBA Jam.

I actually think this looks good. I expected a lot worse.

This should help me get my basketball/sports fix until 2k18.

If all it loses is cloth physics and shadows it's not that big of a deal. The cloth physics look pretty subdued on PS4 anyway. I'm not sure I would notice if somebody didn't point it out.

I was mildly excited for this game on the Switch. From videos and impressions I know this game won't break low 7's on Metacritic. Regardless, this is a genre I love and playing this on the go should be a blast. Now impressions are starting to come out claiming the game runs at 540p undocked. If this is true I am no longer excited. Snake Pass runs at this res and it makes my eyes tear up from how soft it looks undocked. Nintendo should have made it a requirement for games to run at 720p undocked. A screen that size with a blurry image is painful on the eyes.

No, but the question got me thinking....I think if for some miracle if EA ported the Skate series over this system would become an instant purchase for me. The thought of playing that on a portable is super intriguing.

I already have 20$ loaded on my eShop account waiting for this tomorrow. I have 4 joycons waiting for this. Over the weekend I got a friends BBQ to attend and this is the perfect game for it.

No review. Just impressions from people with review copies on forums. Sounds like handheld mode is blurry like snake pass was. I sincerely hope this isn't the case, as I would love to play this game on the go. If it is the case I'll just pick it up on a console, but Id much prefer to have this mobile for work trips etc.

Interesting if true. Snake Pass is also running on UE4.

Have you seen reviewers talk about long loading times? Saw a streamer mention ~40 sec load times to start a game. Not sure if that is for certain modes or what.

Yeah I've seen the loading times too.
I don't understand this. I mean who wouldn't rather have quick matches instead of ultra hi-res textures and models for a game like this?

Detailed impressions and screenshots please, docked and handled. That's importan! :) Thanks :)
Long loading time ( 45 seconds )
Blurry undocked but it's not that bad. Like snake pass. I don't know for docked. It's much sharper not sure it's 1080p though. Sharp enough
Most annoying vibration ever with pro controller. Might have to deactivate. Wtf.

Overall it's ok

45 seconds loadtime initially or for every match? If it's latter probably better off for a patch improving the load times and adding online.

Every matchs i tried to simply restart
Oh well... Seems like they really didn't have much time to optimize the Switch version. I expect/hope patches to improve the performance down the line.

Ok, that's a deal breaker. Zelda loads faster than that.

Reminds me of that game Sega Soccer Slam design wise.

Does it have power ups and such like that or is it just simplified? I'm picking it up anyway in a few hours but can't wait to have a cool little sports game that isn't Mario tbh ha

I'm having a lot of fun playing online matches. So many people use the same players and same tactic online, it is hilarious. It's really fun to counter people.

Nearly everyone I play against follows the same game plan: Use a combo of guards with a super high 3 point rating (usually Steph Curry and Allen Iverson or Ray Allen) and proceed to jack 3s from all over and never even attempt to dunk.

Since they hardly build any meter at all just hitting 3's, I can get some blocks with whoever my center is and build my meter and get a special with a few dunks. Being that I'm not building any meter when I have a special activated, at that point I'll usually focus on hitting 3's. I'll keep the game as close as I can but if I get down by 10+ against someone who is cheesing 3 pointers I don't sweat it, because the specials can swing a game so fast and that's what I count on. The different x2 point multipliers are killers. Normally when I swing the score it's not hard to keep the lead and the other person will often just quit.

That being said, I so rarely run into other people who build their meters or even have a center, that it totally throws me off and I'm likely to lose or have a real sweaty win. Also there are some people who have gotten incredibly good at cheesing 3's who I can't beat because they've figured out how to hit a perfect 4 point shot every time.

All in all I'm having a lot of fun with the game. Needs work, but the steals fix will hold me over for awhile.

I have the game on Switch, and I used to be hardcore sports gamer. This game will scratch that NBA Jam itch. BUT it definitely needs a gameplay patch or two. Too many air-balls, too many missed layups, physics are a little wonky, jump ball is awful, rebounding needs work. Defense AI and offensive AI can be awful at times. AI can be ruthless, and your team can be inept at times. Boxing out is missing, since players will stand around.

Rules needs to be able to be toggled on and off. Straight gameplay and with bonus rules. 4 point plays and perfect shot extra point bonus.

This can all be fixed with a gameplay patch or two.

I like the card pack system. The online needs to be flawless if they want to gain traction.

IF THEY TREAT THIS GAME AS A SERVICE, AND BUILD UPON IT WITH GAMEPLAY PATCHES, ADDITIONAL COURTS AND PLAYERS. THIS IS WILL BE A GOOD GAME. I believe it is worth $20, but I would wait for the first gameplay patch.

This game really feels like it was made by people who don't know anything about basketball.

Imagine if you took 1% of the madden team/budget and then asked them to make an NBA jam knockoff.

This would be the result.

The timing on shots is hilarious, I can shoot a higher percentage on 3's with 5-6 rated shooters than I do on wide open layups/dunks.

I agree this needs to be patched. As well as sideline shots. They seem to have a lower percentage than shots from the top of the arc.

So the game now outranks Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch eShop for Best Sellers. It's #2, right under Minecraft.

Me thinks this might have been really successful on the platform.
