WHY AM I DANCING WITH SPACE CHANNEL 5!?!?!?

Damnit, at least it would make sense if the game could be played with a dance mat.

I try to only tap my foot or move my shoulders, but alas the entire body gets going. :(

I admit it.. I did the same thing

How are the PS2 ports of these games. If the answer I receive is even remotely positive, I will go out and buy these fancy, fancy games. I used to love the DC one, although I thought the timing was really weird for a rhythm game.

Totally positive. They even "fixed" the timing issue a bit in SC5 Part 1.

Best soundtrack. Best characters. Best era (neo-60s).

I'll check the nearby gaming stores. I know I saw it at one of the EBs or Gameplops in my area recently. I think in Redmond.

I just got Guitaroo Man at Fry's the other day. They have like a half dozen sealed, brand new copies there. That game is pretty freakin awesome.

How much for Gitaroo? I still need a copy.

Gitaroo Man is $40 at Fry's I think. A bit too much compared to my $10 purchase at Best Buy, heh

And I got Space Channel 5 for $5 at EBgames. Cheap ass music games for the win

Space Channel 5 Part 2 is my 2002 GOTY. Incredibly underrated game. The polish and effort poured forth in it is incredible. I always liked SC5, but SC5pt2 improves it in every single way. If you haven't played it, do so.

Space Channel 5 DC does not have timing issues per se. The gameplay timing, ie when you press things, is on-beat. What's a little off is the audio synch of the dubbing. So sometimes it deceives you when you push a button and Ulala reacts a half-second later. I always wanted to get the Jp version to see if that was any different.

part II really impressed me. my friend don't even want to play it :( they think it's girly.

it's not much a "music game", it's lot more a simon memory game mixed with dragon's lair timming. That said, the music in is is great, design is great, dancing is great.

it's a nice classic to have in is collection, pretty challenging also. Lot of replay value also as it's always more fun to rescue all the character to have more dancing with you.

Hmmm....

Space Channel 5 + Revolution remote = ?

Please don't turn this thread into a revolution thread

No, you can't play SC5 on a dance pad.

Dayton, quit giving the anti-Nintendo people more fuel.

This is probably one of the best values you can get for uber cheap. $15 new when it first came out and worth every goddamn penny x3.

Space Channel 5 on EyeToy Sega Superstars rocks :D. But the lightning in the room has to be immense for the cam to recognize the quick movements correctly. Plus it looks hilarious when somebody plays it :lol

No. Space Channel 5: Taiko Drum Master edition, is what you should be thinking.
How does that allow for getting one's funky groove on?

Oh, quiet you. Unlike most of the inane ramblings, I can actually see Space Channel 5 being playable (and fun) with Mr. Rev.
UP DOWN UP DOWN SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT.

[while listening to the "How to be a man" tape]
Voice on tape: Now, repeat after me: "Yo!"
Howard Brackett: Yo!
Voice on tape: Hot damn!
Howard Brackett: Hot damn!
Voice on tape: What a fabulous window treatment!
Howard Brackett: What a fabu...
Voice on tape: That was a trick!

[after Howard's dancing is complete]
Voice on Tape: Well, how did you do... prissy boy.

Da-da-DA-duh-dah-daaaa...

Da-da-DA-duh-dah-daaaa...

Da-da-DA-duh-dah-daaaa...

SHOOT...SHOOT....SHOOT

I love this game. I have an extra DC copy I can donate to someone who wants to unearth this gem. All I ask in return is that you support me in any online debate into which I get, no matter how insane my position is.

"Ulala is my wife since May 6 2003"

Loved both those games. Also, one of the few games my wife actually played all the way through even when the game was difficult.

I'll never forget my (gay) boss' quote after the first time he played SC1: "Wow... this might be too gay even for me..." :lol

Anyone ever beaten that 100 level thingy in Space Channel 5 Part 2? I think I got to like 65-70 one time...

The GBA version is actually... decent. It's rather scary.

I tried using it on the Game Boy Player with the Mario DDR dancemat. That was a surreal experience.

To everybody who thinks they've mastered SP5... play it with the sound off for the ultimate challenge!

Bah, what's the point in playing with no sound...that's the attraction of music rhythm games

Most overrated game (by hardcore gamers) of all time. Playing Simon says with a Barbie doll is not my idea of a fun time.

Aww, where's your sense of humor? C'mon, Ulala's cute, and the game is hip. Just let yourself go and enjoy it! :)
