Why are there no Fallout 4 news?

I pray to God they are waiting for next gen...

Bad enough we had to have 2 Elder Scrolls games on the same hardware...

I wish they did Fallout style games but set in modern or futuristic world which hasn't been destroyed, at least then there would be more interesting things to steal!!

A Fallout 4 based in Red China would be kind of interesting or even Russia but maybe something like this is left to expansions since they'd be pretty focused on what could be considered a novelty of the cultural differences within the game world. Plus there's also the nice sense of mystery by not expanding on these regions.

I'm cool with Boston if they do this. The region can vary nicely and the ruins of Boston would be interesting to explore with its fusion of new and old. I'd personally like to see something situated in the North West.

After New Vegas, I don't think I could go back to a BethSoft Fallout.

Of course, OE will never get another crack at it, so here we are.

I liked the environment in FO3 but the story and consequences of your decisions in New Vegas were much better than 3

I'm hoping Bethesda will let Obsidian handle the story telling mechanics in 4(or at least ape them) but I'm not holding my breath.

They need to get better FPS controls and a perk system more similar to Skyrim's too.

I don't want another one made by Bethesda. I don't even want one that uses a game engine from Bethesda. I'd rather the series be dead than them having any involvement ever again.

Obviously speculation but next E3 will be the best ever if a Fallout 4 reveal is part of the next gen console announcements

Cross generation title, to be shown at Microsoft's E3 2013 reveal of Xbox 720.

this is, curiously specific?

that generational shift is good stuff!

when it is announced, it will really set the world on fire

if you know what i mean.

All jokes aside, the inclusion of the radio and the cold war era ballads was an absolute masterstroke of atmosphere design in FO3 and NV. It's those same damn songs which kept me trucking the miles from Megaton to whatever loot dropoff points I'd made so I could finally save up for the junker launcher. Blasting away ghouls in the metro to the tunes of the the Ink Spots was just unlike anything I'd ever experienced before aesthetically in a video game, even if Bioshock had kinda beaten Bethesda to the art deco punch some years earlier.

so we have to wait two years

For a better game.

Bethesda likes to keep their games under wraps until relatively late into the development, and it has worked out pretty well for them so far. Of course they're working on it, they'll just wait again until they make the announcement with a trailer.

And will it their Gamebryo engine this time as well? I wouldn't be surprised given how they outright lied about Skyrim having a brand new engine during development.

I don't know if there is a lot of people like me right now but I'm pretty much waiting for any news on a next fallout developped by Bethesda. Yes, Bethesda, because I pretty much think that fallout 3 is their best work to date yet. While not perfect (thanks modding community!), its still one of the best games I played this generation. Gameplay, exploration, humor, crazy stuff happening, atmosphere, fun quests... everything is awesome.

I got my Dark Souls 2 announcement. Fucking great. Now I need Fallout 4.

I feel the same. FO3 entertained me for countless hours. Can't wait for Bethesda to release the next one

I'm jonesing for another Fallout big time. 3 was great and New Vegas was fucking awesome. I can't get into ES but I'm all about the world of Fallout.

Please have this happen soon!

I'm sure it's already been posted, but Bethesda Game Studios (as opposed to Bethesda Softworks) only has one team. And the average time between releases for their games is at least two years.

March 2006 - ES4: Oblivion
October 2008 - Fallout 3
November 2011 - ES5: Skyrim

So depending on whether or not they are reworking the engine in a major way for the next generation, I wouldn't expect to see a Fallout 4 release until early 2014 at the earliest.

I say we're better off unless it's devved by Obsidian.

But really I imagine they're waiting for new consoles, unless it's got a crazy E3 announcement -> winter 2013 release date thing.

Fallout: Portland. Make the game beautiful, lush, and deadly. In a delicious bit of irony, the Hanford nuclear power plant would actually be working flawlessly, and there would be whole neighborhoods of ghouls with "Keep Portland Weird(er)" signs.
