To add to this post, Marvel Comics is doing that Death of X comic book (which is sort of an obliteration of mutant kind but ALSO sort of a rebirth/restructuring of metahuman factions in the Marvel Comics universe, as I understand it... as the name goes, many big-name deaths in this book,) so X-Men doesn't have a great future for Marvel either way.
Part of that Death of X book line was supposedly a f-u to Fox, but it's also a rebranding/re-distribution of characters for a new generation of readers. Unless no X-Man survives Death of X, some of these characters will have a future to expand on afterwards. And for all the bad blood that Fox and Marvel have had, there's been something of a coming-together, and Fox has stepped up in quality (everywhere but F4.) The latest Wolverine movie follows the old-man Logan series, Deadpool is a hit, the Legion show is great, the Matt Nix X-Men series has some steam, the Gambit movie hit the brakes when things looked bad instead of lurching into F4/ASM rush-job territory, X-Force may happen, X23 is now a hot property...
Marvel would really like for its own Inhumans property to balloon and make X-Men irrelevant, but that's a hard road ahead. Meanwhile, the way Fox has come around on its franchises, Marvel cannot just expect Fox to fail out and give up on X-Men. At some point, it'll be wasted energy to hold a grudge when there's business to be had.
I expect Marvel Games to concentrate on its core MCU brands first (Spider-Man is an in-between brand, it's interesting that it started there but it is still in the universe,) but I would not at all be surprised if/when Marvel Games announced a partner for a Wolverine or X-23 or Deadpool/Cable or even X-Men game. These are strong and active Marvel brands.
EDIT - Also, Marvel Comics just today announced a relaunch in
Astonishing X-Men. They're calling it the "ResurrXion".
Marvel's business doesn't always follow the books, but rumors of the death of the X-Men may have been greatly exaggerated...
