If you buy something off craigslist make sure to meet in broad daylight in a busy public space like a starbucks parking lot or something. Also good to have a concealed weapons permit and a gun with you, and wouldn't hurt to have a buddy a block away in a van with a sniper rifle just in case. Before giving the perp your money for their ps4 take photos of their drivers license and social security card.
Only do a craigslist sale/purchase in a Starbucks or if your area allows, the police station. That's really becoming a thing, btw, police stations welcoming people using them to do craigslist transactions safely, since there have been just enough craigslist related crimes to make it worth the hassle.
Scams. Dude got his ps4 and wallet robbed at gun point by where I live. The robber pistol whipped the poor kid on the face. This was a while ago but yeah, some shitty people on CL. Always do the trade at a Starbucks or an area with a lot of people. Some police stations now allow people to exchange there too.
People need money asap and have no where else to go. Been a couple of times I was low on cash and sold something well below its original value just because I needed quick cash.
Then again I use craigslist alot and haven't had a bad experince yet. Maybe it's just the community I live in. Don't be an idiot meeting people at night or in their homes. Meet during the day at a Supercenter parking lot or something.
Scams. Try emailing one, they all have very formulaic fake emails like rudy.johnston88 @gmail. com or something. The few times I have done this they actually DON'T invite me to get mugged in some shitty part of town, but instead say that the console is sold already, but that they got it on such-and-such a website (usually some sleazy pyramid scheme auction site) and then direct you to it.
In Toronto are, and on Kijiji, the PS4's are not very cheap. 330$ for just the console and no games, and depending on how many games, they charge 390-550$, and the price of a PS4 new in store is 449$ without tax.
