Why did GTA V lose a star?

Tanks no longer blow up every vehicle you touch, either.

I've had my rampages cut short a number of time because my tank would blow up so easily.

Also, 1 stars last way too fucking long. I swear that you lose a 2-3-4-5 star quicker than you lose a 1 star.

I think it's because they actually send the police unit out to the crime area and have them get out of their cars and search the scene. But screw realism they need to shorten the time. Or at least make it so silenced weapons are actually silent. It would also be cool if people actually had to call the cops, like Watch Dogs.

There are tons of things that were in older GTA's, but missing in V, as much as I love the game.

- Six wanted stars.
- Fighter jets that come after you, causing dogfights if you have a jet of your own. In GTAV you can't reliably steal and keep one either - it'll disappear when you get another plane out from your hangar.
- Paramedic, Firefighter, Vigilante, Delivery Missions, all gone. No remote controlled car bombs, no pizza delivery, no cocaine-laced ice-cream.
- No Vigilante and no attack chopper means no Brown Thunder missions.
- Can't drive trains, which means you can't derail trains.
- The 'jobs' from San Andreas, stuff like Pimp, Valet, Trucker, Burglar, Quarry, Courier etc. All gone.
- Recruitable homies from the streets who back you up.
- No Car export checklist!
- There's a comedy club like in IV, but it can't be entered. IV had shows you could go in and enjoy.
- Nothing like turf wars in the SP.
- Gym/weight system.
- Fantastic drug-dealing minigame from Chinatown Wars was never seen again.
- Not that many non-mission interiors aside from safehouses. Vice City had a whole mall, SA had Casinos.
- Vastly diminished melee weapons from older games. VC had a chainsaw, SA had the purple dildo amongst other things!
- Jetpack, not that it's terribly important, but yeah...jetpack.

If you have a faint feeling that 'something' is missing from GTAV, it's probably one or more of the above.

That said, I believe I know why a lot of those things were dropped. I think part of it would be narrative coherency - they didn't want the three leads to do things they definitely wouldn't do and sought to replace all those dropped side missions with stuff we hadn't seen before that make more sense. And it had to suit the setting also. They probably wanted the 'jobs' to come from the businesses the guys bought out because it make a more cohesive logic. The problem with that is that the old Vigilante missions are 100x more fun than running a fuckin' triathlon or the Epsilon cult stuff, or any of the business-related random missions.

Secondly, GTA is a long series, they probably want to be adverse to regurgitating the same stuff with every game and mix it up with innovative stuff we hadn't done before, which is understandable. Problem is again, a lot of the new content just isn't as compelling as the old. They take home invasions and pimping out, we get nature photography and yoga instead. :/
