Why do anime cons always smell bad?

I went to my second anime con ever in my life and all was going well until I entered a battle room where people could play battle each other. The smell in that room was so unbearable that I almost died. Then I go into a panel room and with all the nerds together it was even worse , i felt like an outcast because I seemed to be the only one that put on cologne.

BTW - gaming cons are the same

It doesn't help that the cons last a couple of days and a bunch of nerds cram themselves into hotel rooms, but don't use the fucking shower.

I'm going to assume the horrible people that go there smell bad and the convention center itself smells bad.

So you were just masking your funk? Not sure if you should be talking about other people's stank if you think "wearing cologne" is the solution to BO problems.

a lot of people in a room talking, moving->a/c doesn't work as well->mass sweating begins->the funk of a thousand nerds is released into the air

Because, almost without fail, anime cons are full of people with terrible personal hygiene. This terrible personal hygiene is probably the reason that they have no friends in the first place and have to dress up as cartoons so that they can socialise with other pathetic human beings.

Just to clarify for I-Don-Shower-GAF: The OP is not suggesting putting on cologne to cover up stink. Soap and water, motherfuckers. Soap and water. Preferably, soap that doesn't have a smell to it. Then apply a small amount of cologne.

not really, no. if you showered with some soap and water before the event, you should be fine all day. unless you just have a naturally odd body smell that soap and water can't conquer.

This was actually held in an upscale hotel. Although i feel bad for the people that work there that had to clean up later.

..in a game?

or real life?

please don't be real life.

Usually the first day is okay, then people crash at random places after staying up all night in the hentai rooms, and come back to the con the next day without having washed themselves.

And no I don't have personal experience with this but my friends for some awful reason wanted to go into one of those rooms.

I went to the montreal comic-con and there was no socially broken people at all. No smelly people, no apparent weirds; a few superfat ugly girls in unknown 'Sexy' animu girls but made up by the fact that the average people were awesome.

But then again, comics >>>>> animes

I've never been to a convention but I'd wager its because there are lots of socially unaware people there who don't pay much attention to their personal hygiene

but...why? a bar of soap is like...$1. and i'd like to think that wherever they crash, the place has a bathroom, right? and bathrooms almost always have a tub/shower.

:-(

Why would you think that's a joke?

I can't say I know any hard-core nerds and have never been to such a conference. I expect that basic hygiene shouldn't be something graded on a curve. It's really odd to me to think about masses of people not doing something as simple and basic as showering with a simple bar of soap when they can afford to do so easily. (I assume if you can afford to travel to a fucking conference, you can afford to wash your ass.)

Just imagine what would happen on this forum if each time someone created a post their smell would be transmitted to you through your laptop.

I have a classmate that emits the strongest, most foul smell of sweat I have ever felt in my entire life. Sometimes I can even smell it from the opposite side of the classroom. As far as I know he's also an anime nerd, and whenever I feel the faintest will to go to an anime con I imagine a room filled with people smelling like that and the idea quickly vanishes from my mind.

Nothing more awesome than an overweight woman thinking she makes a great Cammy, thong leotard and all x_x. Shit is burned into my brain.

There certainly was a funk coming out of the game room in the last anime boston I went to. I always shower and put on deodorant. If people put on cologne or perfume it just makes things worse along with the BO

The probability of everyone showering before such an event like this isn't likely at all, imo.

Heh. When I saw that I just imagine a bunch of anime nerds sitting around in a boardroom.
