Why do people rub cologne on there wrists?

i believe it's because of your pulse, it's a warm spot of your body and will send off scents better and longer.

.

edit: You are supposed to pat it on your wrist, not "rub" it, IIRC.

what is the difference? really?

Doesn't sweat much, unlike say hands, and that area is most likely to be flailing about, often in close proximity to people, and thus sending your au de choice around.

So when you run your hands through a sweeties hair, slightly caressing her cheek with your palm, she gets a whiff of your wrist-cologne and her panties melt away.

Rubbing it in actually messes with the chemical balance of the cologne and can make it smell bad. The proper way to apply cologne is actually to spray a couple squirts in the air and then walk through the mist so that its sticks to your clothes.
No rubbing or patting is required.

I know that's not a very macho thing to know but my Mum was a beauty therapist at one point in her life and she owned a lot of perfume :lol

Can't you just spray it on directly to your clothes and what not? Or is that incorrect as well?

I usually apply to my hair since smells tend to stick there plus I can let my girl lick my neck and wrist.

It avoids wristfking irritations as well

I think you can but then people tend to spray way too much. Two squirts is usually more than enough (this does depend on the cologne but anything over 3 squirts is usually way too much and you'll stink) to get the best coverage it's best to spray it in the air and then walk through it so that it spreads evenly.

I'm no expert though, this is all based on what I used to see my Mother doing. She always had the perfect balance of perfume though and it was never overpowering like some women, yet it tended to last most of the day.

Edit: Thinking back actually I don't think she used to walk through the mist with her clothes on, she was probably just in her bra and panties. Either way the mist method gives better coverage I think.

O_o

As he said, rubbing it in is bad for the cologne and makes it harder for it to settle in. As others have said spraying on your wrists/neck is advantageous for many reasons.

I used to use that spray and walk method but I figured I was using too much spray at a time and I didn't want to waste my resevoirs :lol Now I combine two different scents at once; one has a stronger smell and I couple it with the more subtle one. Jim, would your mother think this is the wrong way to go or not?

I dunno I imagine that would depend entirely on the two scents you're using. It's like mixing drinks right? Some go together deliciously, while others give you a nasty hangover. It's probably made more complicated by the fact that each perfume reacts to the individuals skin differently, if this combination seems to be working for you then go ahead.
Personally I'd stick with just one scent to be on the safe side and remember to never spray more than 3 sprays. Perfume can be misleading because it may not seem overpowering to you but actually it really is for others.
Anyway I have no real knowledge on the subject, and I don't speak to my Mother anymore, so WTF do I know :lol

Perfume/cologne are compounds containing alcohols which carry scent into the air as they vaporize. This process happens faster, and therefore releases more scent at one time, when the perfume is applied to a warm portion of the body. It's advised to spray perfume on the neck and the wrist because these areas of the body are warm, are in close proximity to parts of the body that come in contact with others we are interested in smelling the scent (hands and the face), aren't in danger of caring the perfume into orifices like the mouth and eyes, and aren't parts of the body commonly coming in contact with objects and people, resulting in the scent either rubbing off on others or wearing thin faster. This is why we don't spray hands directly.

Because of the throbbing veins/arteries under the wrist, which pump the smell into the air. That's why people put perfume on their chest (heart), but it's easier for the smell to emanate from ones wrists then ones chest especially when you have a shirt on

Hmmm, going to try this. I will post results after Friday's party.

Also for the immediate impact in the case of a hug or a kiss where you grab the chin/neck. Or even if you open the car door for them.

Apparently my little brother gets mad pussy when he uses Axe.

This makes me want to unmake all the Axe in the world. Gross brother.

Serious? Because some people have sensitive skin and putting an untested cologne on your bare skin can be very bad, also the warmth of that area keeps the scent active.

What you never saw yo momma in her bra and panties as a child?
My Mum would sunbath topless in our garden during summer and walk around the house like that as well. Most weekends bra and panties was pretty much dressed as far as she was concerned :D
She was a pretty, how can we put it, 'liberal' parent.
She was also a little on the eccentric side.
Alas she kicked me out the house when I was 14 :lol

So the whole "Axe attracts women" thing is true? I had a can but it never smelled great to me, so I gave it to my dad

It's to cover up the smell of pussy from your hands.

But you probably dont know anything about that

edit: I didn't even notice the op was a resident cock gobbler, I was making fun of virgin gaf at first.

Not even going to lie. I use to be elitist as shit in regards to Axe. I tried it one day, and while you can tell the difference, it worked like it should. Not all of it smells great though.

Bitches love Axe. Don't let the NeoGAF virgins fool you into thinking otherwise.

Well, it broke the ice a couple of times. I got comments here and there. Nowhere near the amount I usually get when I wear angel, nor the looks, but, kept me from smelling plain. As long as you don't unload on it just because it's body spray, it works fine. Cheap cologne really.

Axe is pretty awesome for a cheap body spray

Wrists and back of the neck.

Wrists for when you're giving a polite handshake to a woman you're meeting for the first time and because your hands usually precede you.

Back of the neck for when you receive those "greeting" hugs from women that you've met a couple times in the past and are now familiar with. Even if the woman is not a prospect of yours, you want their first thought after hugging you to be, "My, he smells nice."

Or just take a bath in Axe, whichever works. :D
