Why do people think MS will allow Elder Scroll and Starfield on PS5?

People are crazy if they think those titles are coming to PlayStation. Sony will get GaaS games like Fallout 76 at best.

We'll see ElderScrolls and Fallout 5 on PS5 when we see Spiderman and Bloodborne on XSX.

No chance in hell starfield does after Sony tried to money hat it. The warriors would riot starfield will be the face of timed exclusives. The cold day in hell Microsoft bought these to sell xboxes not playstations. Gamespass subscriptions come from console gamers for the most part.

Those don't have announced platforms. And rumors circled around Sony tried to get timed exclusive on Starfield and got shut down just a couple of months ago.
Can you imagine Sony making an offer for Starfield exclusivity and Microsoft just buys the whole thing right from under them? Well imagine no more!!!

Those games lose a lot of relevance if they skip ps5 and MS will make far more profit selling a few million on ps5 at full price. Fallout has been on playstation for years so there's that too it's not like halo that's never been.

Plus weren't you guys telling us MS don't care how many xboxs they sell this gen?

"Because Microsoft doesn't care about the number of consoles they sell anymore, it's all about the software".
This the first time am using this phrase but I think it's the right answer.

If MS did say no I'm sure Sony could negotiate something at the end of the day.

If they allowed MS Gamepass on Playstations.

So never.

I don't, at least i don't think they will if their focus it's on gamepass. And with the amount of money they invested in getting Zenimax, they probably are thinking about gamepass instead of selling a couple million of copies.

Xbox Division care about consoles sold, but Microsoft does not. And in this case, just like with Minecraft, Microsoft are the ones who bought Bethesda, not Xbox.

People think back on Minecraft but Minecraft is more of a platform.

But think of the more recent studio's they purchased over the last 2 years... They are honoring deals already made/announced and then exclusive to xbox/PC.

If it's up to me, full exclusivity on Starfield and timed exclusivity on everything else.
Sony wouldn't be this magnanimous. Matter of fact they locked 2 Bethesda franchises.

Those titles are system sellers. People will buy Xboxes solely for these games. Smaller titles like Ori and Minecraft makes sense since those don't move hardware.

If Microsoft doesn't care for big exclusives then why isn't Halo, Forza or Gears on PlayStation. Are people just that delusional?

Starfield was announced in 2018 for Playstation, so Microsoft can't go back on that.

1. Exactly - they didn't pay $7.5bil to keep letting playstation stay ahead
2. Minecraft being one of the biggest games in the history of the world is why it's still multiplatform. Bethesda games being smaller means they won't be.
3. They didn't need to. You don't buy companies to then keep helping the competition.

The answer is because the majority of this forum won't own an Xbox console or gaming PC that can play them so they're trying to will PS5 versions into existence.
1. They paid 7.5b to earn that back and make even more out of them. What will happen if they cut off a plattform that ousells them over 2:1, their own customerbase does not pay for games and they also have to pay a royalty fee to valve? How long will it take to amortize the investment?
2. Some of the smaller ones? Yes, I think so too. But this topic is about Elder Scroll and supposely another new IP on the same level.
3. We already have Minecraft as an example that it does happen. Why did MS not clearly say that the new Elders Scroll will not release on PS? Its an easy PR move, no?

Sony is about to dominate another gen with the majority of marketshare. Who will get hurt more by a potential exclusivity? Sony or Bethesda studios? I delibrity say Bethesda studios because even with a Playstation version of their games many of their games flopped and the whole publisher was supposedly in bad shape.

Which is why the "they need to sell to all those PS owners" is ridiculous. MS doesn't need shit from Sony. They are going to be printing money with Game Pass.
quite the contrary, MS it's on amazon mode, they are gonna keep dumping money on this until it works like they have done from generations now, the only difference it's that they have failed at cornering the market too long and time is running out so they want to do the big moves now before it's too late. Those 7500 Millions are hardly gonna be recovered by Zenimax during this generation, not even if we add whatever xbox makes, which it's usually not much in positive numbers.

But yes, i doubt Zenimax games are ever touching PS again after the ones already on the way.

This is delusional, man.

Different situation. Minecraft was on multiple platforms before the acquisition. New games are an entirely different ball of wax.

That said I think Microsoft has finally seen the writing on the wall with respect to hardware and will publish most of their games on multiple platforms, including those that could be considered competitors in terms of hardware.

Long story short, the hardware arms race is a bloody slog that isn't where all the money comes from. Nintendo has known this for awhile. Microsoft figured it out in the last couple years and even Sony is starting to realize it.

It isn't different. They could call Minecraft an Xbox exclusive moving forward if they wanted to, but they won't.

And how bout Minecraft Dungeons? Entirely new game, just a few months ago - everything.

You could also flip the script and say it's the same reason Sony is putting The Show on Xbox.

They'll write it off as an operating expense and save the money in corporate tax they would have otherwise paid if they held it in cash.

the show is coming to Xbox beacuse the MLB said they'd pull the license if it wasn't multi platform

Does any one even care about Bethesda? I like Doom but that is it.
Fallout and Elderscrolls have gone stale! No innovation in gameplay or technology for over a decade.

I made my arguments. If it happens it happens, if not then not.
I would agree with you guys if MS had still a focus on consoles but they have not.

That's exactly right, their focus is on Game Pass. Consoles are going to be all but irrelevant in a few years. And the only way these games are coming to PS are through Game Pass.

I'm no Sony fanboy so me thinking they'll come has nothing to do with wishful thinking and more to do with MS' thing lately where they share games they own.

I'd be surprised if they kept them exclusive, but we'll see.

Because MS need to recoup those billions somehow, and they're not coming from new subscriptions. They need full price money from other platforms, cause Xbox fans will get those for 'free' on Gamepass.

They just built 2 consoles. Made a heavy investment in hardware with a premium console and a value one to sell to as many people as possible. They are committed to PC now and will stream all their games to any device that will allow it. They care, and will use Zenimax properties to pull people into the ecosystem.

Smaller titles like Minecraft
😐😐😐

It's exactly because Elder Scrolls is so big that it has a chance to appear on Playstation. That's a lot of money to leave on the table and they could just shadow drop the game on PS5 a year later. Not that I think this is a certainty by any means.

There is some precedent for it. Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons. And Microsoft games are not only on PC but on Steam.

1. Because cutting them off will reduce that 2:1. Their own customer base does pay for games, in fact game pass has proven time and time again to INCREASE game sales.
2. Elder Scrolls and those others are the ones that will make people buy an xbox instead. They won't come to PS5.
3. Minecraft is literally a once in a lifetime game. It's the highest selling game of all time (or top 2 behind tetris possibly?). They will gladly release Elder scrolls on PS5...........................if Sony allow game pass on PS5. I have no doubt that this will be out in public discussion soon enough. Why shoot their load on all the PR moves at once? The smarter move is to just let people guess, and then when the new elder scrolls game gets announced etc, drop the exclusivity bomb then and what do you have? Attention on xbox again! Positive attention again! Not just slightly more attention when they already have it, like now.

Because MS need to recoup those billions somehow, and they're not coming from new subscriptions. They need full price money from other platforms, cause Xbox fans will get those for 'free' on Gamepass.
When they start getting half a billion dollars a year worth of recurring subscription money from people locked in their ecosystem, that 7.5 billion will be a distant memory. Even now, 7.5bil is a lot, but even if the value of that investment dropped to zero tomorrow MS could just go "oh well, shit happens" and continue making billions in profit every quarter. They're not Sony, 7.5bil in loss wouldn't make them scramble.

It really looks like that a slice of bread has a higher ability to think logical than a PlayStation Fanboy.

These games are now Microsoft exclusives and will only appear on PlayStation platforms through Game Pass or not at all.

It's not that hard to understand ;)

i expect they'll just be timed exclusives. ESO will most certainly come to ps5 since that's way too much money to ignore
