Why do people think MS will allow Elder Scroll and Starfield on PS5?

Yeah. No way those titles will be on PS5 and even if they are, it will be timed exclusive. No way it will day and date with Xbox.

People who say they have spent 7 billion so need to make money back by keeping the games multi format, take a basic accounting course, the acquisition is a balance sheet item, it just moved 7 billion from the cash portion to the asset portion, simple.
Also those saying they can't ignore the Playstation base because it will be bigger, I have news, it isn't already. The install base for Game Pass is all the Xbox consoles, all the Windows PC's and every Android Phone, it's a totally different ball game.

That's a bit hyperbolic. Im leaning towards microsoft not actually releasing games to PS5 but I don't think it's the craziest thing that could ever happen.

Nobody really thinks they'll be on PS5, just like nobody expects MS to let Halo, Gears or Forza go there.

I think this will depend on when the games release and how the market share for each company is. If Sony is out selling Xbox 2:1 or more, they'll also release it on PS5, otherwise probably not since these games are system sellers

You really shouldn't be so insecure about it, the reason for the doubt is because of the words of Phil Spencer himself and the Bethesda boss. Both said they want the games to be on as many screens as possible, Spencer even said specifically 'they will be on other consoles on a game by game basis'.
You're in denial if you think these games are 100% exclusive.

He didn't say that at all. He said "case-by-case", so yeah, maybe one or two IPs can see the light of day on Nintendo in some way.

I can only hope that MS will launch those games (on the condition that they are great games) on PS5/switch but that because i was not planning on buying an xbox...

that's about 41,6 million years of Gamepass subsription. So right now they have 15m paying subsribers (lets not make the argument about some people paying just 1 dollar for three years). when those 15m keep their subscribtion for three years. then MS has effectively earned back their spended money. offcourse making games and maintaining those 2300 souls with a monthly pay etc etc will also cast them but with the law of big numbers this 7,5b will be earned back fast.

Because money. Also, I genuinely do not think the console hardware space is the goal for Microsoft and I don't think it has been for some years. I fully expect to see Gamepass on the PS5 at some point.

Depends on how many subscribers by then and also the scale of the game which they'll obviously scale down to make it work for a subscription model.

Do you want to go back and review that quote? he said they will honor current contracts and "Look at each game at a game by game basis" He never brought up other consoles, neither has mentioned PS5 once. This is to drive gamepass numbers, and will drive players to where gamepass is. They gain NOTHING by releasing these games on Playstation, Microsoft doesn't give a fuck about physical sales on a couple of titles.
They want you on gamepass, they want your repeated money. They did not spend $7.5 billion dollars so they could make $30 bucks off some physical sales of what is two games a generation.
The denial in this thread is the worst I've seen yet, I do wonder where it comes from but since all PS players play xbox exclusives on their PC already? Baffling really

Doubt it. MS would be giving up the main draw to own their console. GamePass might be hugely profitable at one point in the future though an even bigger profit driver is a 30% cut on all 3rd party game sales and micro transactions.
I highly doubt Starfield and TES VI will appear on PS5, at least at launch. You don't invest $7bn not to reap the biggest rewards.
Bethesda titles are system sellers, no doubt about it.

"Best games they can" is a big risk and cost a lot of money. The AAA model is unsustainable and they can't keep it going. Microsoft is forward thinking.

Can we really blame people? These franchises like TES, Wolfenstein, Doom, Fallout and so far Starfield, where always multiplatform titles and Starfield was for all platforms announced. I don't know why people compare it to Halo, Gears, and Forza because those games where never multiplatform, same as Ratchet&Clank, God of War, Gran Turismo etc.
This effect would also happen if Microsoft would acquire Ubisoft or EA for example. All their games are multiplatform, and they would also lock it behind their eco system.

I think Gamepass model is Unsustainable, gamepass alone cant fund all these studios that make 100+ million dollar games. There gonna use that MS money To keep it going.
MS have said themselves Gamepass doesnt make much profit.
They can only afford to do it because they are MS and can afford to take a loss to kill they competition For years to come.
Other its not a good business model, like they said it doesn't make them much profit.
The triple AAA Model has worked fine this generation And before it. Playstation and Nintendo made profit from games and then to go on to make more better games. Grow studios organically

Listen, PS5 has a stacked launch and first year, it's not critical these games even release on the console. It's MS that needs these games to fill out their library, but we'll have to wait and see.
Until then, the idea that Starfield and TES will be released on PS5 can live rent free in your head for a long time.

MS wants to become a big/the biggest player in videogames. That doesn't mean they want the most consoles sold.
If they can put the Bethesda games on Gamepass & let PS5 players pay 70/80 Euro/Dollar for them, it's a win/win.
Or they could keep them exclusive to give even more incentive to buy Gamepass/consoles.
