Why Do People Wear Socks To Bed?

My sister-in-law got me some fleecy reindeer socks last Christmas. The antlers have fallen off, but they're so deliciously cosy in bed. And devastatingly sexy.

If its cold that's fine but oddly I have a cousin who wears them no matter what and can't sleep unless he has socks on. We currently live in Miami where its hot almost year round and its not like his house is cold or anything.

Sleeping in socks is for weirdos. All you need:

My feet get cold. Also there is nothing more obnoxious than stumbling into the bathroom in the middle of the night, half sleep and getting jarred fully awake because of cold tiles on the floor.

I do that with socks on AND tuck it over my head too. No part of my body is exposed to open air while I sleep. #hardcoremode

I basically mummify myself with blankets every night, minus the embalming fluids and organ removal.

I can't do it either, if I wear socks then I got too hot while sleeping. In fact, I sleep absolutely naked :D

Did it once, haven't gone back since. Well assuming its my bed lol

I always go to bed with socks on but take them off after about 10 minutes or so, they feel uncomfortable in the bed for some reason.

I wear socks to bed too, even in the summer (even if I don't have the AC on). My feet get very cold for whatever reason, and I'm such a light sleeper that it will actually wake me up out of sleep unless I have socks on. In the winter I wear two pairs. :)

I'm gonna be really real right now. I always wear socks to bed and around the house. I do get cold feet.

BUT I think that jaws and other horror films fucked my brain as a child because I have genuine fears even as an adult in my 30's that with exposed feet that icky things will touch me. Like a shark or the boogy man.

So much so that I wear water shoes when going into a lake or pool and have been doing so since I was young.

I have had shivers go down my spine and instant fear with my heart racing and my gut dropping when something touches my exposed foot whether in water or just having them hang over a bed or creep out from underneath a blanket.

I can't control it, it rocks me to the core so its socks for life.

I hate being cold, but trying to sleep with socks has always resulted in me waking up sockless and the sheet balled up at my feet.

I also hate socks in my waking life, but do suffer them to keep warm.

Solution to a cold bed in the absence of another person: microwaved bean bag.

I kind of know the feeling. When I was little I almost never used socks when at home, but then one day the dog decided to take a dump near my bedroom door. Still remember the feeling of absolute horror when I stepped on that poo. Hopped on one leg to the bathroom and washed it off. Then I put on some socks so I would never have to feel that sensation again.

Twenty-something years later and I'm still haunted by that night. Can't function without socks. I need them. NEED THEM. Like you, I also sport water socks when it comes time to frolic at the pool/ocean/whatever.

About two months ago my cat decided not to keep her poop confined to her litter box. I didn't notice it until it was too late. And you know what? Stepping on poo with socks on wasn't as horrible. Still gross, though.

Socks forever. Asleep. Awake. Doesn't matter. Socks.

Same. Plus I'm afraid of spiders going under my blanket. lol

I do it maybe once per month when my feet feel cold.

But I will always wake up with uncomfortably sweaty feet the next morning, so I always regret it afterwards.

socks on, with a toque and gloves, wrapped in a blanket and a comforter, with the windows open during a snowy night.

I really don't have a preference. If I am wearing them, I just keep them on. If I don't have a pair on, I usually won't wear a pair to bed unless my feet are cold. I go either way without much thought put into it.
