Why do you use HDMI over VGA on 360?

People that prefer VGA prefer a shittier image.

You can't make statements like this, because it's simply not true. VGA is better for certain TVs. HDMI looks like utter shit on my TV, there is all kinds of artifacting and bullshit going on. It's a Bravia (albeit low end Bravia) so it ain't like it's some offbrand shit TV, either.

Now for 1080p HDMI is probably the best. But if you have a TV with a wonky resolution (and there are a shit ton of them just like mine), VGA is the only way to get the proper resolution without bad side effects.

My TV automatically goes into overscan mode and you cannot correct it if you are hooking it up via component. Some TV's have a just scan mode that will fit the image to the proper resolution, but mine does not.

I don't have a proper way of capturing images off my TV or else I'd show you exactly how bad the artifacting side effects are on my set when I connect HDMI.

As does HDMI, I've used both. Your point?

HDMI DEFENCE FORCE ASSEMBLE!

VGA tears more than any other connector on 360. There's something (design flaw) in the VGA output of the ANA/HANA that causes VGA tearing in more games. I have extensive experience with this.

Kind of off-topic, but can someone post that GIF of breaking apart the 360 video/audio output to run an HDMI cable and the standard cables at the same time? I just got an HDMI cable and I'm shaking my head at the fact that there isn't enough damn space to fit both for surround sound.

Some funny HDMI elitist attitudes here. :lol

No it really depends on the TV/monitor your using VGA is awfull on my HDTV component isnt sharp or colourfull though HDMI is clear and vibrant and gives the best overall visual experience.
If you dont believe its TV/monitor specific or scaler depended maybe your one of the ones with an attitude dude.

I think the jaggies can also be caused by the type of HDMI cable you have. I first tried an older HDMI 1.2 cable with my xbox and it looked like crap. I bought a newer HDMI 1.3 for five bucks and it looks awesome. Much better than VGA. Great clarity and much deeper color.

I know this doesn't make a lot of sense because the Xbox only has a 1.2 out, but that's how it went down with me.

Probably just a bad cable, it happens.

At least it makes more sense than 1.3 working better than 1.2 for some reason, lol.
