Short story. At somes guys party, he has brought a keg. Why does beer taste so horrid?
Every beer I have had in my life has made me gag. What's the point? If you want to get drunk why not drink something....tasty like wine or something.

I hold a similar opinion of beer. No reasonable amount seems to get me drunk, and I cannot stand to drink it. Liquor tastes worse, but I'd rather drink 10 shots than 10 beers.

Ur doing it wrong

shit beer is awful, good beer tastes very good

also, very cheap beer tastes much better then very cheap hard alchohol, and also gets you a better drunk out of the deal

Aye. I'm not really a fan of alcohol at all, but if I do drink it - it's always going to be liquor. I really like Monopolowa with a dill pickle. Really good stuff.

With an orange slice, it's fuckin' delicious.

Personally, I prefer import beers like Dos Equis and Corona. Dos Equis was the first beer I could stomach.

If you like fruity beers, you should try Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde. It's almost the right season for it too (Summer).

In the same boat, I just don't like the taste of beer. I have tried many different kinds of beers and they all taste awful to me. Beers that my friends considered tasty are no good for me.

I've long wondered this as well, and I can tell a good beer from a bad beer but to me it's like comparing horse piss to boat gas.

Its all varying degrees of terrible, reminds me of drinking black coffee actually. Beverages should not taste bitter and or salty.

So instead I stick to captains spiced and coke.

It is my opinion that people should simply utilize IV drips to get drunk. Cheaper, quicker, and no horrible taste required.

I find that people who really love and almost exclusively drink soda and sweet beverages tend to dislike beer, tea and often water.

I didn't come around to the taste of beer (not all beers are good mind you), until I was around 22, though, so it might also just be an age thing for some people.

I get kick out of the comments like "if I wanted to get drunk I would just do xx". For me, and a lot of my friends, the point isn't to get piss drunk. I enjoy drinking beer for a combination of the taste and of course for the buzz you get from the alcohol. If everyone just wanted to get shit faced then they might as well be drinking some random malt liquor (which often does taste like what I imagine horse piss might) or pound shots of high-alcohol content liquors. If all you want to do is get as drunk as you can then beer might not be the beverage for you.

If you don't like the "taste of beer," try a different one. Beer doesn't have one taste. Experiment! And by that I don't mean try Bud Light instead of Budweiser. Grab something that looks different than anything you've tried.

Furthermore, beer is VERY tasty. I want to know why you get to tell me what is good and bad when I have my own tastebuds.

I've tried many types. Some are more tolerable than others but overall... Just nasty.

I was at a Bavarian restaurant last week and had a nice dark Czech beer. Can't remember the name of it, but it was fucking delicious. I couldn't help but think, "why do people even drink shit like Miller Lite unless they're at a frat party, with beer like this in existence?" If you were drinking beer at a kegger, that probably wasn't even real beer. That's like eating microwaved Totinas pizza rolls and writing off pizza altogether.

why the hell do you know what horse piss tastes like

My thoughts exactly. As to the OP, to each their own I guess. I like beer, but am more interested in micro breweries than the big, mass-produced stuff, but I've never really developed an interest in wine. If you don't like it, don't drink it. Heck, bring scotch with you to these parties, and look down at all of the peasants knocking back their filthy horse piss.

Are you implying that Totinos Pizza Rolls aren't Delicious?

So you are putting forth the notion that everybody who drinks beer actually thinks it tastes nasty and only does it to get drunk. If you really think that, then you are an idiot. If not, well I guess you're still kind of an idiot because you should realize that people like different tastes.

Nothing wrong with a bitter drink, but it's not like all beers are bitter.

La Fin Du Monde, from Quebec, has a nice fruity undertone (orange peel), along with other spices. Hell, there's chocolate beer if you want it.

EDIT: I think wine tastes nasty. How could this possibly be?!?

Drinking Bud Light or some shit like that and than ragging on beer in general... smh

Warm Bud Light, Yum.

lol but seriously OP taste some non-white trash beer before you generalize about beer.

drink better beer.

try some darker ones and such.

i think it's one of those things, somewhat like wine and liquor without mixers, where you have to try it a few times to really begin to appreciate it.

some things are just acquired tastes for some people. say vegemite & marmite or even peanut butter as an example.

I use to be like the OP. It's an aquired taste. Like coffee. Still, cafe coffee taste like bitter arse. Instant is where it's at.

In the last 6 years, I went from barely being able to drink a half a beer to being able to drink as much as alcohol as my body can handle.

I use to find it bloats me - I guess it still does, but yeah. You just learn to like it I guess. It's best after a hard day or work/sport/fitness, etc.

It tends to be an acquired taste like coffee, tea or even wine. And some beer is much better then others. If he had a keg of Lone Star, Natural Lite, or Miller Lite then I can see where you are coming from.

Screw getting drunk off wine. Dehydrates you bad. To me, wine is meant to savored or to start off with.

I probably drink crappy beer by most people's standards because I don't like the taste of hops. So I drink Mexican beers or other imports that are low in hops like Corona.

op reminds me of:

Shooter McGavin: You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!
Happy Gilmore: [laughing] You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?
Shooter McGavin: [long pause] No!

lol

Recently my friends have been trying to get me to drink since I turned 21. Pretty much tried Tecate and it tasted terrible. Pretty much the only thing I liked was whatever one of my friends would mix and give to me, and some apple Smirnoff stuff any suggestions on a really good beer?

Because beer is disgusting.

And I've had all kinds of beer, my friends are beer snobs and try to get me to drink their "good" beers, all of them taste horrible.

Try something from the top of the list.

I doubt that list will help convert someone. Most of those beers seem to be the fermented in the bottle high alcohol content stuff that are not going to be instantly pleasing to anyone. You have to work up to that stuff, and personally of the 7 beers I have tasted on that list, only Rasputin would I rank highly, and I have a lot of beer drinking friends and none of them can stomach it. Hell Duvel is on there and I find that shit barely digestible.

Here are some good beginner beers OP to get yourself started: Bass, Warsteiner Dunkel, Guinness, Blue Moon, and Stone Pale Ale. That should be a decent variety of easy to swallow drinks that are easy to find before you move on and explore the various regions of beer consumption.

i used to think beer was nasty.

then i started working at a microbrewery.

beer is the best thing on earth. is there anything more refreshing than a hoppy, crisp ipa after a long day? i think not!

Thanks for the suggestions. The Tecate really turned me off and I didn't know what to try next.:lol

Beer is all about that great one for you but I also think theres a bit of an acquired taste as well.

Basically, man the fuck up.

EDIT: Also, Duvel rocks wtf?
