Why does my PS4 keep doing this when shutting down in suspend mode?

I click the suspend mode (or whatever it's called) so it doesnt fully turn off. I then turn my PS4 back on and it says it failed to shut down correctly the last time and boots in to what is essentially safe mode. why??????

I had this happen with the previous firmware. Running a quick search shows this issue is more common than people realize.

how do you do that? (at work, so cant check atm)

Start your PS4 in safe mode : Shutdown the console (no rest mode) and start it by pressing the face button (first beep) and maintaining your finger on it until you ear the second beep.

When in safe mode, use option 5 : Rebuild database

happens to me to, but the database always* rebuilds itself, the next time i turn it on.

At first, I thought it had something to do with my tv because Ive noticed that if i only turn of my tv, the system usually crashes on its own, or if i put my ps4 in rest mode and turn off my tv before it's finished. Since the power in my apartment hasnt gone out since i've moved in, at least not in my waking hours(to my knowledge), I initially rejected it being a power thing. However, I have been noticing my router cutting out randomly, after midnight, so there may be a point to that power surge theory.

those crazy weed farmers, circumventing the meter so the cops don't notice a surge in the power.

*read usually. I cant recall if it's happened everytime but i do remember seeing it rebuild itself multiple times.

Happens to me too and I can confirm that it is not a power surge. It started happening when the newest big update came out.

(Hey, didn't even realize that I have the member status now. Yay ^_^)

For you guys that are having this problem does it still give the error if you immediately resume after suspend?

There is absolutely no problems when turning on/resuming the PS4 when it is in rest mode. The problem is that it always gives the error after the PS4 is cold-booted and had previously been shut off while in rest mode.

Mine used to do that a lot... or something like it. Stopped after a recent update (hope I haven't jinxed myself)

I don't think you're supposed to shut it off in rest mode.

yeah, no. you're not supposed to shut it off in rest mode....

You're not supposed to do that so there's your problem

I have the same. I'll put my PS4 on rest mode and sometimes it just give me the blue pulse of death with many beeps. Then I'll rebuild the database and everything works ok. At times the dashboard gets really sluggish, it just tries to work something out just hangs there and slows everything down.

Dunno what's happening.

That is a defective console. I used to have the same issues with my launch PS4. The problem continued to get worse and I would have to unplug the power plug from the console for a minute and plug it back in to boot successfully. Later on, it got so bad that sometimes I had to remove and reseat my hard drive to get the system to stop pulsing and beeping and actually turn on.

I RMA'ed the console to Sony and my refurb unit has been solid for over a year with no issues turning on from Rest mode.
