Why does stretching feel better when you vocalize?

You know the feeling. You wake up in the morning, and have a nice stretch. As you do, a noise, perhaps a grunt or a squeal or an "errrrrghhhh" escapes your throat, and in making the noise, the feeling of the stretch intensifies.

Not like a workout stretch, though. Only a morning/tired stretch. I've tried not vocalizing and it's just not as satisfying.

If you are a quiet stretcher, try a grunt next time. Your life will never be the same.

My theory is it has to do with the way you exhale while making a noise with your throat, like the way it slows the release of your breath.
