Why don't more people only drink water?

wat? people doesn't drink water in meals but soda and shit like that?
now I think I understand why the u.s.a. is the fattest country in the world

Water and coffee is nearly all I consume. Occasionally I'll have a diet drink or some kind of juice with alcohol. Beer I have a few times a week sometimes.

I try to stay away from sodas in general, even diet drinks, because they taste like chemicals and I'm sure they can't be healthy for you.

I typically like to drink things that actually have taste. Not to mention, water goes terribly with almost all food.
that's such a crazy statement. water is neutral. it goes with all foods. you may prefer something with flavour, but to say water goes badly with food, well, that's a crazy fringe opinion.

edit: just ordered two water bobbles and a replacement filter!

I don't really care if it's a fringe opinion, it's true for me. Drinking water with a meal makes the overall experience taste worse.

I wouldn't say that's crazy. Honestly I would probably rather not drink water while eating something. Right after though it's fine.

Water only people are annoying as shit. People like variety. Yes, we understand drinking 6 cans of soda a day is bad. But GTFO telling me to drink only water, and tea if I want flavor.

EDIT:

So hold up, its our fault you've never experienced those? So we're bad for enjoying something other than water?

I never implied that it is anyone's fault for me not drinking those things. I choose not to drink those things because they either aren't good for you, or they don't really have much appeal to me.

Also, I am not telling anyone to drink only water, I am just wondering why more people don't do it.

People think I'm weird because I enjoy drinking water, not because it's healthy or anything, I just really like the taste or lack of taste, it goes with everything, it's refreshing and it doesn't need preparing.
Although it's not the ONLY thing I drink, that is actually pretty weird and boring, I drink plenty of tea and a fruit juice every once in a while, not unhealthy nor expensive, I actually really enjoy thyme herbal tea, so good.

can't believe so many people don't drink water

i mean a little variety is good, but its important to have 2 litres of water a day to be healthy.

water really quenches your thirst - which is something a sugary drink can't do.

90% of my drinks are ice water, the only thing that really feels refreshing to me.

I used to drink alot off Dr. Pepper as a teenager but eventually my body started just feeling bloated afterwards. I have some coffee about once every two ( or longer) weeks, that shit really wrecks my mind and body.

I love soy milk and juices however, but water is the main beverage.

I gave up drinking soda after I had a kidney stone about a year and a half ago so I mostly drink water now. My overall health has slightly improved now that I'm not filling my body with all that shit.

The rare times I do drink a soda leaves me feeling nasty half an hour later. It's like I can feel the sugar seeping through my pores, it's awful.

I drink a lot of water every day but I still love wine, beer, coffee and diet soda. Problem?

Water, milk, and tea here. I work out often and the water and milk (with protein mixed in) helps a lot. The tea helps me to stay awake at work.

While I would disagree with him that it is bad with all foods, I would also disagree with you that it goes well with all foods. If something is greasy, water makes you realize the taste of the fats and oils in it. This makes drinking the water taste like drinking a combination of vegetable or cheese oils along with a diluted version of whatever sauces the food has. That is why fast food places serve insane sugar/salt drinks, because they overpower the disgusting greasy food. If someone has a shitty diet, water will make them hate what they are eating, except they will blame the water not the food.

I prefer warm tea with certain types of food. Or sometimes I just want to drink something hot/warm. Hot/boiling water isn't that great. Boiled water it self is kind of different from regular water but I don't mind drinking that either,

i gave up sodas a little over a year ago. nothing but water for me. it was hard at first, but now i drink a gallon a day.

The water system where I live is notorious for having extremely 'hard' water.

Its so bad that you can look at things like your shower head, places where pipes connect, faucet heads, or anywhere else where water might escape and you will see actual hard water stains.

Now I look at that stuff and I think to myself that there's no way in hell I'm putting that into my body.

I'm actually thinking about installing a water softener for the whole house that hooks up to the main line. Its going to cost about $1200.

I mostly drink bottled water, although I know tap water contains fluoride and is supposedly better for you.

cold water is usually better than anything else with a meal. i do like some juice here and there though, but fuck soda completely. milk and coffee is also great

i drink like a fish too and i usually have a cold bottle by my side whenever

i always found it weird how schools served milk with the meals and not water. it was fine then but drinking milk with food at home now makes me wanna throw up

Ever since I left my teen years behind I find sodas to taste like shit unless mixed with alcohol.

Water, milk and alcohol. Now that's a holy trinity I can get behind.

Alex Jones says it's a demonic plot to take everything that you could have been and destroy it.

People that say water taste bad is fucked up sugar.
I used to hate water but when I stop to eat sugar water became great.

Do people in the US really drink more soft drink than water? These are honestly the only drinks I have on a regular basis:
• Water (like 90% of everything I drink)
• Orange juice
• Milk

and that's it. Sometimes I'll have some sort of soft drink, but only on the weekends or special occasions. Wouldn't dream of drinking it as part of a regular diet.

Tonic mixed with some Goose. OH YEEEEA

Conditioning. When mommy gives you a coke/pepsi with lunch and dinner every day since you were 5 you grow accustom to it.

Conditioning. Many people expect everything to taste great and if it's bland/neutral they consider it "bad".

Also, same reason many people choose a cheesburger over a garden salad for lunch. They'd rather the shortterm gain of a flavorful meal than the longterm benefits of healthy eating.

I like water and drink a good amount of it. But I also like coffee. I also like soda. I also love beer. I also like red Wine. I also like cocktails. I also like vitamin water zero. I also like juice. I also love milk.

The fact our salads suck ass is another aspect of cultural conditioning.

Secret:
Our cheeseburgers suck ass, too.

Besides milk in the morning, I drink water all day long. Usually reaching a gallon. Was 164 in June and dropped down to 139 last monday. I use to drink around +10 of those kid juicy juice drinks lol. Each one was like +120 cals. Tapered off use and wouldn't go back to be honest. I definitely don't take as many advils as I use to.

I moved to the US 3 years ago and I started drinking more soda/flavoured water (Crystal Light) now than normal water. Mostly because both bottled water and tap water taste really bad. Fortunately, my work place now has a cooler with water that is tapped from a well. tastes much better and I am drinking a lot of that.

Just because you like a certain type of salad or cheeseburger does not mean that all of the others suck.

Though I'll never get how people can think of water as boring. There is nothing more refreshing than a nice glass of ice water. NOTHING.
If by "ice water" you mean an "ice cold bottle of plain seltzer" then I agree with you.

I don't really see how that statement applies to water. To be honest, I get enough flavor from my food. I haven't once thought that water is bland, and I need to drink something with more flavor since I have been water only.
