Why don't people drink Sparkling Water over Pop (Soda)

For me this stuff has a kinda diet soda taste to it that kinda puts me off at this point. I'm actually to the point where I even like flavorless carbonated water which is crazy I know.

It really depends on the brand, but that's what I meant by getting used to it. It took me a while to get used to it and now I can drink sugarfree drinks easily.

I don't like the taste that carbonated water has; there's a bitterness that I'm not a fan of. I'd rather just drink water and occasionally teat myself with a soda.

Maybe in LTTP but I've become addicted to Perrier. It gives you the pop experiance with all (or most) of the benefits of plain water. No sugar, no aspertame just water, C02.

It has become a miricle drink for me. Fills the pop urge and to boot vastly decreases my appatite.

FYI: there is no C02 in Perrier or Pelligrino. They're both mineral water, meaning they are naturally effervescent from the springs they, literally, bubble up from.

Sparkling water is carbonated.

Club soda bubbles from (natural and not at all bad for you) chemical additives. They also provide a slightly sweet and salty flavor that I, personally, kind of love.

I'm all about the bubbly water. Perrier and Pellegrino I don't much care for, because they don't fizz enough for my taste. It's all I drink besides whiskey.

Not that I'm a lush. I'm a bartender. Seltzer water is my best friend during a long shift, and as soon as I'm done I switch to brown water.

To those saying carbonated water has a bitterness to it, you're thinking of club soda. Carbonated, aka seltzer, has no flavor, but will provide fairly harsh bubbles. Club soda has softer bubbles, but provides a bitter/sweet/salty flavor depending on the ingredients used and the amount of each.

What's wrong with aspartame?
Is this going to be one of those threads?

So glad the grocery stores near me sell Topo Chico, the GOAT sparkling water. I used to drink soda a lot growing up and once I had Topo Chico, I realized a big part of it was the carbonation. So yeah, I'm with you, OP

Sparkling / carbonated water is foul, honestly. Having to specifically ask for still water in German restaurants was a pain. Soda generally has a pleasant taste, which is the point of drinking it. Carbonation is secondary there.
As a German the responses in this thread are astonishing to me.
Is carbonated water really that off in other countries?
It feels like I'm looking into another dimension.

Sparkling water's so good. The Dasani raspberry lemonade has become a weakness for me as of late. La Croix also has some good stuff.

I enjoy the taste, though I still find it hard to justify purchasing. It's not giving me the same caffeine buzz, and doesn't cost that much less than soda.

I don't know for sure but I would prefer to avoid it if I can. I used to be the biggest diet Dr. Pepper drinker around but found a healthy alternative.
There is nothing unhealthy or toxic about aspartame, unless you have PKU.

The FDA limits are equivalent to 40 cans per day.

I have sparkling water with Lemon and Lime squash, lovely.

Also, did you know sparkling water comes out of the ground fizzy? Was news to me.

I used to think I liked soda... but I realized i like fun bubbles and looking obnoxious. "Do you have any pelingrino? No? K.. CLUB SODA THEN GARSON!!!!"

Less sugar.

No class.

Glad to hear that Topo Chico is known worldwide. It's from my hometown after all!

I mean, don't drink anything that isn't water or you'll dieeeeee.

I get the Rite Aid ones because they're a dollar for a liter.

Aspartame myth is still just as strong as the MSG one. :(

Just drink regular ass water and quit expecting every drink to be a sugary treat.

Easiest change I ever made to my diet was moving to mostly water.

Wait what? People want to tell me they dont drink any water?

Everything you drink is sweetened? Eh....ok...

I drink up to 3 litre of still or sparkling water a day, and some coffee...but I could not drink Coke or something sweetened everyday...I think for 2 years now I switched to water completly and I just feel better...

It's like regular water except it has a bad taste and you can't drink it quickly.

Stilles wasser pls.

Guys.

Like I mentioned above.

You're wrong.

Mineral water = naturally fizzy because of nature. Has no discernible flavor from still water.
Carbonated water, aka Seltzer water = fizzed up with CO2. Has no discernible flavor from still water.
Club soda = water fizzed up with chemicals (natural and not harmful chemicals, again). Provides some bitter/salty/sweet flavor, depending.

Ain't nothing wrong with fizzy water when you know what the fuck you're doing.

My favorite water's tap water tbh. It's just very convenient and tastes nice enough for me.

I don't drink nearly as much water as I should though...

ICE is sooooo good, got me right of pop, every other sparkling water I've tried sucks so far

I don't understand how anyone drinks that ICE shit. It's fucking vile. I don't shy away from products that use artificial sweeteners. That shit is straight up vomit in a bottle, no matter the flavor.

Tried many times drinking sparkling water. It's always terrible. I don't really know what it is but it feels like I'm drinking a vapor that stings my mouth.

To be honest i have a harder time understanding why anyone would want to pay premium for any sort of water when there's free water in your tap.

I have tried a few brands and just can't get into it.

I know someone that drinks club soda, but pours like a half cup of juice into it and mix's it together. That seems like it would defeat the point of it, and just taste weird.

Never had a soda problem. But now I have a La Croix problem. I can barely go a day without it. I may need help.
