Why is 343 making buying the damn game so difficult.?

So you want everything from that bundle but not the statue while paying far less? No. That is a derisive to them. That is the insensitive they get for paying more. Pay up like them or be happy with your cheaper edition. Also most CE/LE contents usually make their way to Ebay soon after, so if you you really want it just be on the look out on Ebay.

Yeah as others have said, I can't even think of many, if any, games that have a LE both physical/digital options with the physical goodies, so I don't think it's just 343 that are making things "difficult".

I think best way to solve this problem really, which I have wanted games to do for a while, is you can buy a physical game, then on first read or some other method to that effect, it can tie the game to your account digitally, so you can own the game digitally and perhaps not require the disc to boot it. Only problem is trade in I suppose. Maybe you'd have to have an option to "untie" the game from your account before you trade in the disc. May not be possible this gen I guess, but maybe next.

I really don't see the problem here. You want physical goodies, you gotta get the physical disc.

"But then why does the $250 edition have a digital code?"

Probably so that they could do this thing they're trying where they release that edition a week early and let them preload.

I want exactly this thing, OP. It sucks that it'll be the first Halo I don't buy the CE for because I want to the game digitally rather than on a disc.

I'd see if you know someone (on here or the 'real world') who is buying the LCE and wants a disk instead of the code.

Bethesda did it for Wolfenstein, the CE had a bunch of neat stuff but no actual copy of the game, for largely the same reasons 343 used.

http://store.bethsoft.com/wolfenstein-the-new-order-panzerhund-edition.html

Curious how that sold though, especially since I believe it came out sometime after the game.

I'd GUESS a lot of CE and LCE get sold at launch because of the huge hype machine.. once a game has been out for a little while, people are probably less inclined to pay the $$$ premium.. also secondary markets.. etc.

That Wolfenstein set is on sale for $60 from $100.

I'd see if you know someone (on here or the 'real world') who is buying the LCE and wants a disk instead of the code.

That's a good shout. Although I'm sure most people would prefer to use the official method that's now available.

Any takers in here?

Just pure frustration on my part. I didn't mean to single out 343 specifically. I wants my Halo goodies, but I cant afford $300 right now. sigh. If the XBOX one download and install times were'nt so goddamn ridiculous, I probably would go with the Limited Edition.

STOP BULLLYING ME!

(We'll have more deets on possible solutions for folks who want physical versus digital, soon)

Why do you want PHYSICAL goodies with DIGITAL purchase?

Makes no sense at all.

DIGITAL purchase needs to have only DIGITAL goodies.
PHYSICAL purchase can have both PHYSICAL and DIGITAL goodies.

If you buy DIGITAL you don't want the waste of the space from the box and all... so you don't want PHYSICAL goodies to waste space too.

And the other way round (for us digital whores who like the idea of a CE on the shelf)?

Why do you want PHYSICAL goodies with DIGITAL purchase?

PHYSICAL purchase can have both PHYSICAL and DIGITAL goodies.

I can't tell if this is serious.

Serious if you avoid the physical box why do you want physical goodies? No sense.

If I buy digital I don't want anything physical.

It is like to buy a digital music that come with a physical shirt? lol

PS. I understand there are exceptions guys that wants this but these exceptions are big enough to force MS make a Digital/Physical version combination? I guess not.

Pre-load bro. Come on now.

They can't win. They decide that it's easier manufacturing wise to ship the collectors edition to customers a week early but it'll have no disc. That means people will get all the goodies plus a digital version, but instead they got raked over the coals for it, I even said a few times it made no sense providing a steelbook with no disc to put in. So they come up with a way for people to swap out their digital code for a disc if they want.

They have a limited edition digital version available to buy on the marketplace, but it comes with no physical stuff, because why would it. Now OP is saying 343 is MAKING IT SO HARD TO BUY, and yet no game has ever come out with so many options for players. 3 digital editions (standard, limited, collectors I believe), 2 physical editions (standard and limited edition), 1 hybrid digital collectors edition that can have the code be swapped for a disc in some way.

You can't get everything exactly the way you want. Microsoft is the publisher, 343 is the developer as well.

I don't want to have to put a disc in my console to play the game. I love the convenience of non-physical games. But I also love having physical art books, patches, in-lore literature such as Halsey's journal in Reach. How hard is that to understand?

I usually buy the physical CE and the digital game. I keep all the physical CE items and trade the physical game at Best Buy. They usually give $42 trade in for a physical game which allows me to recoup a large percentage ($42 out of $60) for the digital game. At the end I end up with all the physical goodies and the digital game. I did this for metal gear and the witcher 3.

I want the Limited Edition, but I dont want the game on disk. ... I don't want to worry about putting my disc in every time I wanna play, on top of waiting forever for the game to install the day it comes out.

This is one of the reasons I liked the pre-180 Xbox One.

It's not a popular opinion but I agree.

2) MS original plan would have made this a non-issue

The Xbox 180 had games on discs with long installs.

The Xbox 180 had games on discs with long installs.

The disc installs are no shorter/longer post 180...

the length of time it would take to install the game would be a drop in the bucket compared the amount of time he would be spending playing the game... Seriously, that's an "issue" for an hr... And the fact that he's never have to use the disc again warrants the "hassle"

He wants the benefits of physical, without being tied to the disc. The 180 removed his chance at that...

It cost the same right?

No... it is easy to understand.

The ideia to have a Digital game with physical items is hard to understand... you won't go to a store to buy a digital game, or use your physical address do buy it, etc.

You will use a email, buy it and download it.

Instead you want to download physical stuffs from internet... that makes no sense.

Digital needs to be digital.

If you want physical stuffs buy physical... go to a store and buy it.

What you want is a cross world between physical and digital... that is not the way it works... that is not what MS or any other company will do.

Actually that's precisely what they tried to do. Look, I buy digital because I want the convenience of PLAYING the games without having to go get the physical disc each time. That does not mean I wouldn't be willing to go to the shop to buy the disc in the first place, or that I'd prefer to download it rather than install it from disc, or that I don't like having a nice row game boxes on my shelf, or that I don't want some of those nice retailer exclusives... it just means I don't want to switch the goddamn disc any time I decide to play something else, so I buy digital... I don't buy digital out of some intrinsic hatred of anything physical.

I'm not sure how you're struggling with this. I buy my music physically on CDs, and my movies physically on DVD/BluRay.. however I then create digital copies of these for personal use, because its more convenient for me. I can't convert physical games, or physical books into digital form, so I settle for the digital version in the first place, despite it not being ideal for me.

Hard to satisfy everyone. Stop asking 343. Seriously I feel terrible for 343 industry. For them its always damned if they do and damned if they dont situation.

I don't know why the physical parts of the LE are holding you back. You can get the digital version for $10 less. All you are losing is a put together guardian and some papers. It's pretty light on the physical stuff. I have the CE on order but going to cancel. It's to much money and you'll get it on eBay for a lot cheaper in a few months. Same thing happened with Titanfall. Should have been $150.

Well maybe then need to create a way to buy the physical stuffs without the game itself.
Buy a digital game to get physical stuffs makes no sense to me... you are asking too much for the companies.

I understand what people wants, and I see why that but these are different type of markets.

If you buy digital you will have digital goodies and it is fine.
If you want physical goodies go physical.

You can choose.... even if you want both digital and physical you can buy both (of course your choice have a price and if you really want that you will pay for it).

PS. Maybe I'm the wrong here... I need to start to buy my digital orange juices.

Oh good, because I have the physical LE pre-ordered (from Amazon, so no money down) and was planning to digitally pre-order the game as well. Here's hoping something can be figured out.

As an aside, I hope going forwards more studios just sell the LE/CE/LCE contents of their games separately as stand-alone packages. Retailers like GameStop can easily offer them as bundles with the games, and digital buyers can get the physical LE and an upgrade though Amazon or something. Works for everyone.

Just do what im doing,
buy H5 digitally and wait for the Fall of Reach series to hit bluray in a couple months.

Im sure you can live without those little crappy dossiers.

Alright... let's try this a different way...

PHYSICAL purchase can have both PHYSICAL and DIGITAL goodies.

You realise that this is actually both scenarios right?... You buy a physical game, and you get digital goodies (let's say a season pass). On the other hand, you may buy a physical collectors edition (featuring a swank statue or whatever) and get digital stuff with it (a digital copy of Halo 5). There's really no difference, and the rules you're drawing up for what makes sense are completely arbitrary (and not even consistent with what is being offered by multiple publishers today).

Sure you always have the choice to not buy it, or buy both or whatever... but that's really not very helpful.

Wow, this is really hard work!

You can buy digital items at retail. You buy Xbox Live codes that are printed on a physical card. Same with Xbox credit. Same with some games.

What you're saying does not exist is exactly what does exist for the Halo 5 LCE, as well. It also exists when buying any of the Xbox bundles - you get a card with a code to download the game. I'm just saying I'd like the same deal with the CE, not the super expensive version.

And yeah, this is why I also supported the original Xbox plan. Benefits of digital with the same options and choice of buying physical.
