Why is all gaming humour terrible?

I've never seen this before and now I'm sad again.

I'll take you to court for attempted murder, Dawg.

Strawman comics are even worse.

Only decent webcomic I like to read is http://oglaf.com/ even though it's very NSFW.

Oh, I thought this was about humor in games which is more often than not godawful (Guacamelee, Super Time Force, I am looking at you).

Jokes/etc. about games are awful too, yes.

I found Guacamelee hilarious. I think it was the fact that the game was self coscious about the jokes being bad what made it funny. Heh.

Sure, it used internet memes more than once, but even that I found funny. Maybe I'm just easy to please? :P

Edit: Those comics...now that's terrible. I cringed hard.

I'm surprised nobody's posted that shitty Irish stand-up comic and his tired old routine that still gets trotted out. Dude sucks at it. Lowest common denominator of comedy.

One of the funniest things I've ever experienced. Books, movies, tv shows, it stands with all other media. Pure genius.

Most webcomics are horrendous, most things that try to be funny in games themselves are also horrendous.

I do enjoy GAF a lot though, I personally find reaction gifs to game reveals, etc really funny, the Kaz gif series, again, comedy gold. But I'm not sure if that's what you're ranting about. That "cake is a lie" webcomic, though, I couldn't even come up with something that cringe worthy if I sat down in a locked room to do it.

Sure sweeping generalisations arent cool either. There are times when gamers are funny, there are several gaf threads which have made me laugh more than straight humour. Eg the photoshopping games into real life thread is gold.

And that Portal shit - why are some people hung up on that fucking cake thing?

That is apparently what it is to be a geek nowadays: to be hung up on everything.

The whole call-and-response nature of geek culture pisses me the fuck off. Oh, you answered my question with "42"? WHOA, you mean you've READ the Hitchhiker's Guide? All this time I thought it was this obscure piece of fiction I found all on my own!!!

God, shoot me every time someone giggles with glee because they mentioned something from the nerd pantheon. "Ahahaha, yeah, Browncoats! That's a Firefly thing! And you mentioned it! Let's be best friends!"

I don't think comics are a good example. A lot of comics in general are pretty fucking awful. I mean, if you look for examples of shitty game humor, you'll find it.

Off the top of my head, a lot of the Skyrim green texts were pretty funny.

Does this guy write this comic just to preach his lame views to people?

OOT not the greatest Zelda ever. Wow, I'm drowning in the devil-may-care badassery of this guy's edgy opinions.

I see that you have never heard of Andrew Dobson before. look him up. He is such an asshole. There is a ton of reedits about this guy.

Gaming humor isn't any less cringe inducing or terrible than most humor. I feel the same way, but it is by way of being closer to games and, like most people, remaining socially aware. It feels worse than the baseline of where humor is, but try to read “funny” fanfiction or go to an open mic stand up and you will see that most people think they are funnier than they are.

Games also attract a younger audience, so the humor is measured against a lower bar.

Finally, humor is subjective (blah blah blah). There is a reason why Pew Dee Pie and Yogscast are so successful while the humor I love (Brendon Small, Scott Auckerman, Matt Thompson, Tim and Eric/Everything is Terrible) get a fraction of the web traffic.

I don't get the comic

Some people thought/joked that the year 2000 bug was going to cause untold catastrophe, it's playing on that and crazy survivalists.

That aside, hardly any of the comics posted are funny. The very worst don't actually have punchlines and they seem to comprise the bulk of online web comics. The Peach one was slightly amusing. I could happily never see another Portal reference again.

I look at Dilbert occasionally. Most funny things are funny because they're true, Dilbert is on mark nearly all the time for anyone who works in a corporation.

I love the italics and bolding in the Girlz 'n Games comic. THIS party's cool, but I wish there was a way to FIND the GEEKS AND GAMERS in the crowd. It's like an alien trying to speak.
