I don't think all gaming humor is terrible, but the expiration date quickly vanishes. If you have hanged around 9gag or imgur for a while you can begin to see some tendencies in how people flock to memes. It's all very derivative in the sense that somebody creates something, and hopes it sticks, and everyone then uses the template and follows. It's how fashion works too. And many other creative induced fields. With the internet, humor gets older way past than before. That doesn't make memes not fun, or not true. Socially Awkward Penguin is hilarious to me because so many of them are spot on. It doesn't become not funny just because its over exposed. It just means its over exposed. It's like hearing a Louis CK joke for the 50th time. It's not suddenly a shitty joke. It has just outlasted its welcome, and thats due to our internal novelty, not anything external.
