Why is Domino's Pizza in Canada so bad?

Not saying it's any better as my experience is that they're bad everywhere, but Dominos Switzerland is more than twice the price compared to the equivalent Canada pizza.

Now that you mention it, Domino's in Switzerland is indeed quite expensive, although twice as expensive as Canada is a bit of a stretch...

A large cheese/Margherita pizza in CH is 17 CHF = $22 whereas in Canada a large cheese is $15.

Domino's in the Netherlands is about the same price as Canada(maybe slightly cheaper) and the cheapest is easily Australia.

Edit:

Yeah but literally everything is more expensive in Switzerland.

This too :P

It's generally good stuff in the UK but the prices are outrageous. Even with a voucher or deal of some kind I always come away from it feeling ripped off no matter how much I enjoyed it.

What I don't understand is that, if they lowered the prices I would tend to order them more often.

Currently I would only have one maybe once every six weeks due to the pricing.

Every international fast food chain is horrendous in Canada. Be it McD's, KFC, Dominos, Pizza hut etc...

We get the shittiest version and the most expensive

This is just....no. McDonald's specifically in the US is so much worse than here it's crazy noticeable.

As for Dominos, it's good enough. Generally every Monday they have a 50% off any pizza deal which makes it totally worth it.

Why are you only comparing us to the US ? What about the rest of the world ?

I been in Montreal for 2 years now and I still haven't found a single good take out pizza...or pizza in general.

Even frozen Grandiosa pizzas back home are better than what these silly French Canadians try to serve me.

Magpie
Sapori Di Napoli
Artigiani
Pizza Il Focolaio
Pizzeria Gema
Elio's

Domino's sucks everywhere OP. It's only good if you only eat chain pizza and never had real pizza before.

Just stick with local pizza.

I never got the hate for Papa John's compared to stuff like Pizza Hut or Domino's. I would rather eat the box that Pizza Hut and Domino's comes in.

I can agree with their regular hand tossed pizza, but Canadian Dominos pan pizza >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Every other major pizza chain

I've had the opposite experience I got a pizza from a Domino's outside of Toronto a couple weeks ago and it was the best Domino's I've ever had.

Canada has a lot of pizza options. My city has so many great local options, that Dominos and Little Caesars mainly just fight over the $6-7 large trash tier pizza business.

That said, I like the Dominos garlic sticks and marinara sauce more than other equivalents when I am in the mood for a cheap snack.

I use Pizza Hut. In Toronto at least they come out on top for Pizza Chains. Though to be honest I give most of my business to the mom and pop Pizza Parlors round these ends. If you're from Brampton (God Help us) you should try Tony and Jims in Flowertown (Mclaughin and Queen) Best Pizza I've ever had.

Flash which one did you go to in Ottawa? Usually before a road trip with the wife, we like to grab a pizza from Domino's on the south end beside the 417, and it's the best chain pizza we had in Ottawa.

I usually get local pizza too, but sometimes you want something quick for a decent price and that's where Domino's comes in(or if there's a 50% off deal).

There was a thread earlier in the year where the OP was asking why people go to chain restaurants, and the most common answer was convenience and consistency. I find most chain restaurants, outside of a few regional variations, have the same menu with the same quality of food and the same taste around the world, Domino's clearly bucks that trend for some reason....

Domino's in country A tastes different from country B and both A and B taste different from country C. There's no consistency and unfortunately Canada(and maybe the US also) gets the worst version.

My go to Domino's is the one on Fallowfield, but I've also been to the Kanata one a couple of times.

I used to think it was decent chain pizza too until I had Domino's in Europe, I couldn't believe how low my standards for chain pizza had been until then :/

Now I can't have Canadian Domino's anymore unless it's the pan pizza.

I guess it comes down to, what's the best pizza in Canada?

I was partial to Milano's back during university and they're still my go-to for poutine since it's monstrous in size, but now their pizzas are almost double the price (or maybe they always were and now I'm more frugal). Now I settle for Domino's.

On the contrary, I've had Domino's in Florida, Texas, New York and Pennsylvania and I disliked them all. I love it here in Canada (Ontario).

Haven't been in years, when I'm around Milton I usually head out to Lola Rosa. Gonna have to try it out again.

Lola Rosa is a vegetarian restaurant right ? I've never been there even though I live close by.

How is it ? What should I order if I go there ?

I live like a block and a half away from a Dominos in TO. Maybe it's because I eat it fresh, but the crust is probably among the best for chains. Not to mention it's cheap as fuck, with all the specials they've got going at all times. There's better overall chain pizza (Pizzaiolo, Pizza Nova, Mamma's...), but they are much more expensive.

Domino's is fine in Canada, along with Little Caesars (as long as you dont go for the hot and ready). Neither place is amazing or anything, but they make satisfactory pizza. Pizza PIzza is trash tier, nearly raw pizza every time. Pizza Hut is okay but expensive.

I usually try to find a local pizza place but they're rarely consistent and always changing owners.

We've been getting Italian House Pizza lately and its been consistently good, I'd recommend them if you're in London.

I don't think it's that bad in canada tbh. I appreciate that their thin crust is one of the thinnest and I find some of their sides to be good. They have lots of decent promos too. Much better than they used to be when I was younger.

It is fucking awful here in my small town. So, so bad.

But I am guessing it is a franchise because other ones are better.

??

I've lived in Canada for a year now after living in the US my whole life. McDonalds is way better in Canada. This is mainly due to most Alberta beef being grass fed until the end of a cows lifecycle. Alberta struggles to grow corn.

I think KFC is way better in the US. Just has more variety.

Dominos and Pizza Hut tasted the exact same. Dominos took the exact recipe during that new recipe changeover in the US. Someone posted they don't use their garlic butter on the crust in Canada but they do...

Domino's is definitely the best of the big 4 in the US (Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns). It's good for what it is. But yeah local joints are better of course. Still Domino's is cheap and easy so it has its place. It's probably the best bang for your buck pizza.

I think it's fine. Their cheese bread is the best of the chains. Pizza is second best to Papa John's. Too expensive without deals though.

It's my favourite Vegetarian place in Montreal, tons will disagree with me though lol

The burrito is a most and I'm a big fan of their curry as well.

Why do you people keep thinking I'm only comparing canadian McD to its American counterpart. There are over 200 countries in the world and yo can find a MCD in most of them.

European McD is vastly superior in every way.

It seems to vary quite a bit by location - the one near me is actually quite good, which surprised the hell out of me when I tried it the other month with a 50% off coupon.

Would absolutely go back.

I've ordered plenty of Dominos in Guelph (man I miss Windsor's local pizzerias, they destroy major chains), though I've learned not to order from there if I want to re-heat it the next day. It's awful reheated.

So I've started ordering from Pizzaville and it's pretty good, better quality ingredients. And just as good warmed up.

All chain pizza is crappy here in Vancouver. I don't mind Panago I guess but everything else sucks. Pizza Hut was decent when you got it in a restaurant fresh but delivery or pickup is fucking nasty.

As a vegetarian, I don't really mind pizza chains. I don't find independent stores to be vastly superior in general (there are exceptions).

Again I must express my confusion at how people have such strong opinions when it comes to chain store pizza.

Dominos Canada is fine. They all are.

I moved to Canada (from France) a year ago and I agree with this post.

Absolutely dreadful.

Yeah. I've been here for years, I still hate the fast food.

Worst thing is the shitty selection of food products at the supermarket. Going from to Carrefour, Auchan etc... to Provigo, metro and IGA ...

I still haven't gotten used to it lol

McDonalds in Canada is more expensive, that's a verifiable fact. But the reason it's more expensive is because it's way better quality.

Seriously. American McDonalds is cheap as fuck, but the taste difference is very noticeable. The "cheese" they use on their burgers barely tastes like cheese.

KFC? The only time I've had KFC in the US was at the birthplace of KFC in Kentucky, and it tasted pretty much the same.

Not just Canada.

Dominos pretty much everywhere (that I've lived anyway) is bad.

Also KFC (PFK in Montreal and Quebec) is GARBAGE.
