For email changes,
PM me.
Also changing your password is ok, no email is required.
So even if a admins account was accessed they still *IN THEORY* shouldn't have access to our passwords right? They're hashed and whatever techno babble to be safe? This is purely precautionary?
So I was thinking. People with banned accounts probably don't know about this and can't change their password.
They might still have access to the CP, depending on how its set up. *shrugs*
My password was 624 days old. That's the lowest of the thread so far.
I Internet better than all you!!!
Men shit doesn't phase me as I use last pass and all my passwords are different. This kind of stuff happens all the time nowadays no matter how good (or bad in most cases) the security of a site. If you aren't using a password manager nowadays then you are just asking for trouble.
Your password is 3419 days old, and has therefore expired.
Please change your password using this page.
Oh I've been banned before, you certainly do not.
As I understand it, yes. Very few sites are stupid enough to save passwords in plain text, and I highly doubt this site is one of those (I think the forum software controls it anyway). It is possible to brute force a hashed password list, though (they feed it simple ones like "password1" and see how many matching hashes they get). In order to "steal" the password, they would have to successfully enter it and match it, which is no different from brute forcing any other type of account. But the more complicated your password, the less likely they are to do that (I wouldn't imagine most of these people even bother continuing once they've gotten matches on the usual "stupid" passwords like 12345). And if your password is unique to this site (as mine is), then it wouldn't help them anyway. So even if a admins account was accessed they still *IN THEORY* shouldn't have access to our passwords right? They're hashed and whatever techno babble to be safe? This is purely precautionary?
Well, this is all I get when I try to change passwords. Even did a password reset.

C'mon guys, can't I at least hit the decade mark?
But real question, I'm not sure I have access to the email I used 9.5 years ago... can I change it to a Gmail account? Can I change it at all?
I wonder if the automated attack had anything to do with that spike in guest users 6 or so hours ago.
Is it possible for me to have my e-mail changed to my Gmail? I'm currently using my school e-mail but I know that I won't have it forever and I'd rather just use my Gmail.
I always thought that people should be able to change their e-mail to a free provider after signing up because most people would rather keep their work/school e-mail for just that.
Click "remember me".
Only one solution then: Unban every account ever.
Well just as I posted the message appeared. Quick question, the email on file is basically worthless. Can I change it to one I use without getting banned?
Lastpass or 1password are the most well known and trusted. One is free and one isn't. Keepass is another I hear good things about.what's a good manager? i'm w7.
Click "remember me".
The hilarity that would ensue...

Was wondering about that. It was easily 30+K viewing gaming. It usually dies around 15K.
fake edit: well there you go

We've just had an admin account compromised briefly by an automated attack. The hole was immediately plugged, but we're forcing a site-wide password reset for the safety of the members since it's possible they obtained some data. If you used the same password for other sites, be sure to update any relevant accounts elsewhere as well, and be especially careful with your email accounts. Sorry for the trouble.
