Why is iTunes such a piece of shit?

I've never tried to watch a movie through iTunes but I have been using it for years for music management and general iphone stuff on a windows PC and never had any issues with it. Runs fine for me

We have had the exact same thread with the same title repeated over and over again.

Sucks that it doesn't work for you. Works perfectly fine for me though. Maybe the SSD helps. Sure it can be optimised some but damn people blow things out of proportion.

That's what I was thinking. I use it on both Mac and PC. My PC gets 95% of my computer usage and I don't have any issues with iTunes. It seems like one of those hive mind things people like to hate on.

Runs reasonably well on my Win7 PC with 8GB and a very large library (music only, I use XBMC for video). My main complaint is that with 11 they took away the ability to open a playlist in a separate goddamned window. Infuriating.

I said "I stand corrected", didn't I? Unlike you, I don't really develop feelings of any kind for iTunes, and if it was my mistake then I admit it. Zune was IMO more intuitive and free, it never really feels like you're forced to back-up or sync anything, plus it runs well on Windows. On Android I use Sony's own software (which is super light-weight and works with basically any storage device, not only Sony phones) or simple drag-and-drop.
Has Sony improved their software in recent years? I tried using their music/file manager software a few years ago when I first got my phone and it was sluggish as hell. Downloaded Airdroid and never looked back.

I recently bought an iPad mini and have not been able to get iTunes to recognize it. Went through all the troubleshoots and still fucking iTunes cant recognize the damn thing. Seems to be common problem for years and still there is not a proper fix.

Also iTunes takes like 3 minutes to start for me. Turned off many of the features and have crazy fast PC and still it takes forever to start.

I think it is all intentional as so many other PC owners have the same issues and it is not getting addressed.

Blown out of proportion? He said it doesn't even play video correctly for him... But sure, you're pissy someone is unhappy with something from apple so you tell them to suck it up and that it sucks for them, that's very reasonable... Unless you're calling him a liar, what problem is there in him making a thread about problems he's having?

Bumping, because it is still a pain in the ass. I bought songs on iTunes between 2005 and 2009. I would love to have a way to actually redownload them or play them, because of course I'm not allowed to actually play those songs on an Android.

Why are people passive aggressively defending the piece of shit that is iTunes on Windows? No shit it works well on OSX, that's their own OS and you're paying premium price for their products.

There is no reason it shouldn't run well on Windows, especially well made Windows PC's.

If there's still DRM on them, they're also most likely still 128kbps. Upgrade them to 256kbps and DRM free if you really care about them.

I use it just to access the store and manage the iPods I use. For that it works OK although the store is laggy as shit.

The worst is the bloatware services that have a tendency to eat up CPU time and memory for no apparent reason. I keep iTunes as far away from my gaming PC as I can get it.

I have no idea what else I would use to get music and podcasts from their store (legally anyway) and manage multiple devices. Then again I never looked, because even as crappy as it is I'm fine not messing with it as long as I have my extra PC that is strictly for media.

I don't bother with the store, but I started using MusicBee to put music on my 160GB classic and I've got no complaints, program works great.

Go to the iTunes-Store main page, there is a link on the right to see past purchases and redownload from there.
