Why is that Epic vs. Apple trial making everyone else look bad except for Apple?

You strike me as the type of person who is probably IRL friends only with other Sony fans, but a few people out there want to play games online with a friend that owns a different console/PC. It's a crazy world out there I know, some people have different situations than you.

If I hear someone plays on something other than a PlayStation, I just start shooting...

OP is not lying. Everyone looks like pieces of shit, except for Apple😂😩
That's because (at least in this case) Apple literally did nothing wrong.

Epic have looked like absolute greedy retards since day 1 of this nonsense. Microsoft pretending they don't know anything about their own business was funny though. Sony and Nvidia looked completely clueless, like "Who are you and why am I here?" clueless. Nintendo was apparently just there for the free food or something.

Seriously lol. the console reps act like they've never seen a company balance sheet, or they can't make sense of clear and definitely wording in emails

to be fair apple phone substantially outperform every other phone. benchmark wise.

my only concern is that if you take down these companies thats one more, shittier, chinese company that will fill the gap and then sell your info to the CCP
Benchmark wise sure, functionality wise? Far from it.

And what makes people think Apple is a saint when it comes to it's users data?

Man, this guy is hilarious and loved his early Chevy banter: :lollipop_tears_of_joy:

Also is that a normal accent of some town because he sounds weird.

Lmfao that's hilarious. And yeah it's an accent in the north. It's pretty heavy huh 😂

I don't understand what makes Sony look bad?

As a PS customer I never wanted crossplay, I don't know a single person who did want to play with people on other platforms.

The compensation they get for opening up their platform is them protecting their income.

People are trying too hard to twist all this and any news into something bad for Sony.

It's a nothing burger.
Sony could set fire to orphanages and you'd applaud them for population control.

I just find it funny how Apple doesn't know how much profit the App Store makes them.
They know exactly how much the App Store makes them, down to the cent. They won't say that in court because it would fuck up whatever tax shenanigans they have in place.

Microsoft pretending they don't know anything about their own business was funny though.

The irony in this statement is that Apple pretended the same by literally claiming they don't know how much the App Store makes.

This whole thing has been nothing but a three ring circus with the ringmaster being the judge himself.

It's in Apples best interest to make everyone look bad, so they seem the cleanest.

Thier lawyers are doing their job, and news sites are only reporting the dirt.

I HIGHLY recommend you watching all his Chevy videos! This guy is mental! :messenger_tears_of_joy: He mostly spent his time shitting on Chevy and that poor man "Poch" guy. :lollipop_tears_of_joy:
One of my favorites was when the group of people were trying to guess what car it was, and it everyone was guessing some crazy ass stuff, funny shit!

Because Apple worked for their success solely by themselves. They did the hardware, the software, people love it, and no one can blame them for selling hundreds of millions of iPhones, iMacs, Mac Books etc. and making huge stacks of money in the process. Other companies in comparison use some shady practices to gain the market share, or live off someone else's success, like Epic on Apple's devices - they capitalize on Apple's success, on their userbase, and yet they are the ones who want to dictate the rules, and even purposely broke the contract arguments.

You know they only survived off of loans for a long time and MS was one of their biggest contributors. Right?

Everyone has a bad day every now and then, and every company, no matter how big, lives off loans, the market capitalization on stocks, all those billions/trillions of dollars, does not represent how much actual money the companies have at their disposal. But the work they've done to turn the events is solely their own and no one else, if they'd screw up no money would save them and they would indeed bankrupt, but they did a great job and now they are where they, and like I said, Epic had nothing to do with it, and yet they act like they have at least 90% of Apple's stock...

A bad day? They had a bad 20 years. It was literally Bill Gates and MS that kept them alive. Everyone else would have left them to die.

Now they want to shit on the top company that helped them get to the top?

Mate I can say that Apple lives off someone's success as well using Sony's imaging sensors and their AI prowess, using Samsung touch screen, and many, many other parts. When Apple made something like their processor they're shouting too loud maybe because it's the only thing made in-house.

They're mainly a software company, most of the HW are reskinned. They are a great company but they used other successful stuff from others for most of their parts as well.

Like I said on a thread about the trial, all this started by the wrong reasons, Epic and with Microsoft help is just putting a circus in a funny but ridiculous way.

I think Apple deserves a heavy beating so it drops from their pretend "high horse" but with a lawsuit against epic? Doubt it.

all the media focused on Apple didn't even reported the lawsuit. all the news we are getting are from gaming websites.
Meanwhile all the Apple fans and fanboys are devouring any information about the recent leaks about Apple new products…

conclusion, Apple will go on doing what they do ( they done so after the offshores scandal )

Ahah yes also the "designed in California" that sends a mix message that all the hardware is made in USA.

But that's the thing - they pay for all of it, whatever Sony, Samsung etc. ask, they don't dictate the prices at which they're buying those products, which is essentially what Epic tries to force on everyone else, just because EGS is not doing as well as they would want.

I find it aggregrous too. I can't remember the details of which game, but I remember PS4 userbase for something lapped PC/XB/Switch and possibly mobile all flung onto the same team, just on its own. Then we have COD players complaining about PC hackers and their forced crossplay.

I'm glad console crossplay is here for those that want it. I'm less than thrilled at the idea of getting headshot by a keyboard and mouse player on TLOU2 Factions, but meh. Sony needed some business inventive to accept crossplay, I see nothing wrong here.

The best approach would have been to aggressively expand with acquisitions like Bungie and MiHoYo (Genshin Impact) etc and sunsume as much of the playerbases as possible to where it was kinda pointless to operate the games on other consoles and PC.
My biggest issue is PlayStation are just not aggressive enough. Dunno what's wrong with them... no balls right now.

This I totally agree with. It's like they've lost the PS4 fire. Which, I guess they did, with the new management team and all.

I'm actually of the opinion that Apple has every right to charge a fee for purchases of apps in its App Store, but I don't fully agree they should be able to charge a fee on in-app purchases. Some app developers will actually charge a premium for that extra fee and pass it on to the customer, so it's customers who lose in this scenario. The other scenario is if the developer forces the customer to purchase on a separate device, but if you work in UX, you'll know that this lowers conversion and makes for a terrible user-experience. Netflix does this by forcing you to subscribe on Netflix.com, not their app.

Whereas, Apple's contention is that they don't want app developers creating their own in-app ecosystems to circumvent their own App Store. I tend to think this is a rather silly argument, though, because Apple still has the final say on apps within their store. The solution to this should be defining how an app supports itself financially. So for example, if an app is free in the App Store, but it generates revenue from micro-transactions, then that should be subject to Apple fees. The real doozey we just learned of, however, is that if this applied, Microsoft would be liable for fees generated from Game Pass. And even better? Microsoft says it doesn't make a profit from Game Pass, so how could it be subject to fees?

I don't envy the decision this judge has to make. It will be a very very heavy precedent, one that may even make its way up to the SCOTUS.
Props for mentioning UX.

Only if you purposely ignore the line right below "Designed by Apple in California" that says "Assembled in China".

It's obvious who actually has ever used or owned an Apple product and who hasn't from posts like this.

Bryank75 Bryank75 , how do you rate sony's strategy for partial investments (epic), or financial merger agreements (co-op investment strategy with Kodokawa, co-op investing into cloud game service along with others).

Personally, I see it as short sighted. They could invest in Capcom today, and MS/Tencent/THQ Nordic/FB/AMZ/GOOGLE/APPLE buys them next week..

I had to make sure. Seems many Apple fans are unaware of how they survived the tough years.
That's why I can't wait for this to happen to em.

If Microsoft knew what the future would hold, I'm sure they wouldn't have bailed Apple out back when they were about to be a dead business. And look what happened as a result...

I don't know enough about the Discord one to comment, if it gets Discord integrated on a deep level with PS5 way before everyone else, then it's probably worth it and it should be a profitable investment once Discord go public.

Epic, I have absolutely no idea why they are investing except as a way to make bank quickly once they go public. Epic have shown that they are dangerous and can bite the hand that feeds... Epic depends more on Sony than Sony do on them.

Kadokawa is a great protective investment, once Sony owns Crunchyroll, Kadokawa will depend completely on them for distribution of anime to the west and depends on PlayStation for the lions share of their gaming business, so I think this is a decent investment...especially if they eventually see themselves buying the entire company.

However for 450 million (which they invested in Epic), they could own Remedy. They could probably get NetherRealm or MiHoYo for similar money.

Square is 6.17 Billion now, which is great value. Sega is 3.4 billion and PlayStation made 3.2 billion this year, it would be paid off already more or less.

It's a mixed bag overall, I just feel that the investments are quite scattershot. I can understand them in an individual context but there seems to be no greater aim to it all.... no overarching strategy.
It also seems very defensive.

I'd prefer to see something like.... Buy Remedy, get them working on Dr Strange or a Doctor Doom game and one of their own Control / Alan Wake or something. Or buy NetherRealm and have MK headline EVO and get them working on a DC vs Marvel game. Something to mix things up, put Xbox on the backfoot and question what Sony would do next....

For all of their shitty practices, I'd love to see them taken down. Interestingly enough, if you thought some console fanboys were bad, all of them combined aren't as bad as a tame Apple fanboy. "Having a smaller battery in next year's model is a good thing, as it's less e-waste, and it can fully charge faster!", "Apple isn't including a charger with it's phones is a great idea! I own 3 already, so less emissions on shipping these devices!", "The rest of the industry uses more efficient and better battery savings codecs in audio and video, but Apple is smart by using older technology, as it's nostalgic and was around when Steve Jobs was alive!"
Apple uses DRM in their proprietary charger cable. This requires circuitry in the board that connects to the cable. This circuitry can fail rendering an iPhone unchargable. The phone will charge when dead because the OS isn't trying to access the DRM check but then the phone will not charge again once powered up. The ability to charge when the OS is running is broken by their DRM and everything else in the 1000 phone is fine. And the DRM just spams a warning, but the broken one just blinks it and doesn't take the charge. My point is they are so shitty and greedy that they add failure modes to products that just tell them they need to buy a genuine charger cable and then charge customers to fix them. I can't even process how bad a product design that is. If any of the companies I worked for tried to do that to customers there would be some major reckoning. Apple fans applaud it. Fuck Apple and fuck their fanboy assholes for enabling such shitty behavior that other companies copy.

Amen to this! Watch out though, I pointed just a few shitty practices in another thread, and it was like there was an apple logo shining through the darkest of nights. And out spawned the wretched apple fanboys, weilding butteryfly keyboards and overheating MBP, hurling every defense for Apple products and their shitty designs. There were too many of them swarming around, so I pulled out the rest of my Angus beef burger, and they scattered like flies, repelled from the scent of freshly cooked meat. I could tell the fruits/vegans had enough, and they vanished into the depths, singing Lady Gaga in the near distance.

I can't wait for them to finally get what's been coming to them. They pick on all the smaller companies, have horrible loopholes in their warranties, the worst technicians (if you can even call them that), etc. And get some people lap up everything as "good news"

Apple will be doing all they can to make everyone else look bad. That's how it works in these situations. It just so happens Apple is the most valuable company on the planet and therefore can afford the best lawyers. Not some of the best but the best. Apple has way too much "Fuck You" money and whether you think Epic or Apple (or both) are the bad guys...you better be ready to put up a damn good fight if you want to take on Apple. Epic has no chance to win this unless some big heavy weights come in to back them up like Microsoft or Facebook.

For me
1. Buying-up their 2nd party PS4 partnership-houses to retain that Sony game feel. I would have said RAD but they're FB's now. But certainly Quantic Dream, Housemarqee, SuperMassive, BluePoint etc. I know some of them now have other investors, I just think Sony have missed a lot of steps here.

2. SEGA/ATLUS is the obvious. Sega have game ip vault that can be thrown onto the stores/services and then explored for Remasters and Remakes and new games. I don't know much about ATLUS, but I understand they're something of a gateway for Western ports? That's something Sony can utilise too aswell as SEGA portion, and cross-brand between games, movies, anime, theme park characters and rides.

3. If they're being aggressive they should round-up a few companies/series that are PS-associated for most people. I think Konami, Squeenix and Capcom should be under heavy consideration. Snake, Cloud, Lara, Dante, Resident Evil's crew. Then you can have a better PS AllStars roster, have more of a reason to do Remasters of old ps1/ps2 games, or not have to pay the company's licenses to throw their game up in your store or on your streaming service. Again, you can use the characters whichever cross-brand endeavor they wish.

Atlus make Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. It's a great studio and Sony should have bought them before Sega did....another shortsighted call by sony.

Sega also have Football manager, Bayonetta, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball and Sonic... which of course has the films rights too.

I agree about Square, Konami IP and Capcom.... however Capcom is approaching 10 billion market cap, I think they are overvalued at the moment.... so I'd wait on them to drop.

I feel like Housemarque really knocked it out of the park with Returnal and financially need support till they hit it big with an IP, so I hope Sony buy them soon.

The Crash and Spyro IP's are also going unused by Activision and I wonder if they'd sell them to Sony?!

Colin actually discussed that inflation might force SOny to invest more, instead of letting it diminish value sitting in a bank.

Square is the one stop shop IMO.... it would help them relaunch PSNow and provide mobile games, Anime content and big exclusive games.

That is a good question, every company that is in court has basically had their dirty laundry aired out but nothing on Apple makes me think that Apple is paying the highest price in this case, I simply don't understand why Apple has not to be questioned and nothing has been said about them.

And this is why their fanbase can be so toxic. Cause nothing really happens to Apple. It's as if governments in the US and in Europe are ready to deem Apple as guilty for whatever case they're in court for, and every single time, just like clockwork, case gets dismissed or they manage to somehow weasel their way out. These guys tried to patent the shape of a fucking rectangle, and it worked! Can't wait for the day their dirty laundry and secrets get aired out.
