I often check it just to keep up with topics I posted in. There's always a delay, but i'm used to that. What really bothers me though is that some days it they will show up faster than other days, and today feels like it's taking an extra long time.

Yes. Today has been particularly bad, but it's generally slow and doesn't pick up posts immediately which would be ideal.

It would be cool if GAF had a notifications thing for quoted posts...though I suppose that would discourage people from reading threads more than they would otherwise...

that's because there have been a lot of posts lately that mods have to erase so as to not raise the suspicion of colombian cartels, and going through every post to make sure it doesn't contain illicit information before allowing you to search through them takes a lot of time even for the modbot army

The search indexer is a separate service that runs at a set interval. Some work was being done last night and it may not have been re-enabled. It's being looked into.

Honestly with the quickly updating search queries, no time delay between posts, and animated avatars GAF Gold is the way to go

GAF like every forum has a search indexer which after every x amount of time indexes all new posts on the site so that they appear in search. Think google bot but limited to GAF. I guess someone might have changed the indexing interval or some backend work is being done on the site.
