Unless I don't get them at all, fail videos are supposed to make you laugh, but most of them are filled with idiots doing stuff that results in cringe worthy things anyone would have seen coming a mile away. It's sucks, really. And violent accidents aren't funny.

That's why I love them. I'm not in favor of violence in anyway, but when you're and idiot doing idiotic things I just can't sympathies.

I think it's the whole real people, real reactions deal. Usually when there is an overblown setup it tends to feel rehearsed. But when you get that magic moment of something going awry organically, the imitators become apparent.

I don't like videos that make me cringe.

A lot of "fails" I see are dumb because there's so much pointless build-up to something warranting a "Smooth move, Ferguson!" in regards to how trivial a goof it turned out to be.

Yeah, most fail videos are entertaining if anything. That said, I feel like a horrible person for finding this video of an 80 year old granny skydiving excruciatingly hilarious . I don't know what it is, the last minute regret, the uncomfortable position she was in, the flapping of her folds, or the fact this happened on her birthday.

Have to agree with the OP. While there's occasional funny ones it needs to to be something unique to be funny. Someone just having an accident isn't funny and comes off as mean-spirited.

The huge build up, the expectation of a letdown at the end (provided by you) along with the completely over-the-top results made this funny to me.
