I DONT THINK SO!!!!
It's actually entirely within the realm of possibility. Heck, PS2 sold 2M in ONE month. 360 will sell another 2M by the end of 2006 easy.

I could be mistaken, but it seems that all three manufacturers were selling multiple millions of each console in the last quarter almost every year of this last generation in NA alone. Perhaps not quite two million by December 31st, but certainly by end of January.Reilly said:Not when they barely sell 200K a month :lol
The original Xbox couldn't sell 1.5 million in December when it had a $200 price tag and Halo 2 had just launched.Ash Sparrow said:I think the 360 wil do 1.5 mil in december. too many good games.
Yeah 100 million PS2s was considered a success even though there's about 6 billion people on earth, so why not.gutter_trash said:USA population: 299,102,661 + Canada population:32,547,200 = North America: 331,655,861
so 2 million 360s out of 331 million people in North America is considered a success?
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

It will easily happen. The 360 is doing better month-over month than the original XBox, even at 200k last month; the XBox in its first July sold 154,204. Here's what it did for the rest of 2002:in the light darkness said:2m in 4 month? i can see that happening
continue to sell ~300k for 3 months then 1m in december
quite possible actually
edit: it's doing ~200k/month
still possible though

I can't believe you ignored the African gaming market.gutter_trash said:the World isn't the same as North America. environmentalists have complained that Canadians have been over-consumming and have increased waste compared to other countries in the world.
Canadians are consummer fanatactics, they have produced more waste per capita then Americans.
As far as the World for video games, it consist mainly of North America, Europe, Japan, Asia and Australia. (i know Japan is in Asia, but as far as video games they are in a world of their own)
yeah, people is South America do play video games, but their weight is probably less significant then Australia

Proelite said:I think you have to actually own a 360, like I do, to see where he comes from. His whole eco-system idea probably refers to the fact that I play with the console itself, the dashboard, the demos, the trailers, and the media capabilities just as much as I play with the 360 games. It's the console that I have owned that constantly gives me stuff to do, even if I don't have any games. The guy who wrote the articles is only speaking to the 360 demographic, but he isn't speaking bullshit.
gutter_trash said:I can't believe you forgot Polland!
Polland alone probably has more console owners per capita then the entire continent of Africa

When PS3 sells out and if Wii sells out (depending on how many they actually ship) will not magically make the consumer buy a 360 they never planned on buying because they couldn't get their hands on one of the two. And to reiterate, TWO NEW CONSOLES LAUNCHING! That's twice the normal competition. No doubt GoW will sell well, but its going to sell well to current 360 owners. 360 will sell some this holiday, but don't get your hopes up in front of this onslaught.

They are in a 'wait and see' mode, and can definitely be swayed at this point. I don't know what percent of gamers are flexible, but it's far from the Sonybot scenario where nobody ever switches.
Speevy said:Oh, just some. Well that's nice to know.
Mrbob said:360 will not sell 1.5-2 million unit in December 2006 alone. Not at $399.99 and without Halo 3.
The 2 million unit December won't be until December 2007, when it sells around 2-2.5 million units that month with a $299.99 premium + Halo 3 + GTA4 + Crackdown still selling 500K per month.
Ponn01 said:Didn't say people sitting on the fence, i'm saying people going to get the PS3 and Wii and not being able to. You know, the line a lot of Xbots and MS themselves have been using to fool themselves into thinking the Wii and PS3 launches will actually help them.
And the hype will reach fervor levels here sometime in September when the ads start and marketing. Christmas shoppers don't "johnny on the spot" drop 400 plus on an alternate choice and one they may not have even been considering.
Sorry my choice of words hurt you. Can I ever make it up to you![]()

TheKingsCrown said:You couldn't be more wrong. I worked in Electronics Boutique myself years ago, and if a system wasn't available that a consumer wanted, they immediately looked elsewhere for something to buy. No PS3s or Wiis DOES indeed benefit Microsoft if they have 360s available. We can argue about how much of a benefit it is, but I don't feel there are grounds for argument as to whether or not it is a benefit.
Ponn01 said:Yes, and I worked at Gamestop for a long time, as well as three of my friends and we all concur on what I wrote. Not saying no one ever changed their minds on buying a console, but were talking "Oh GBA isn't in stock, oh that Gameboy Color looks fine and cheap, I will take it" When it comes to holidays AND console launches though, much different. Those launch system hunters combined with christmas shopper mentality of "don't take no for an answer" equals customers going all over the mall and town looking for what they want and not giving up till they do.
I'm not more wrong and I dare anyone to stand in a Gamestop/EB in the holidays at launch and see what happens.
gutter_trash said:people who really want a PS3 and cant get a hold of it because of a shortage, they are not going the 2nd choice it and get a 360. If they really want a PS3, they will wait for the next shipment.
gutter_trash said:the only ones willing to 2nd choice it are parents.
Parents who don't know jack beans and will end up 2nd choicing it. or some casual uniformed shmo.
but everyone else, they wont' 2nd choice it

TheKingsCrown said:But game boy color is not a substitute for game boy advance. Unfortunately for Sony, 360 is definitely a substitute for PS3. The differences between them at this point are "incremental", and 360 has some increments over PS3: working live games, working arcade, install base, some AAA games, and SYSTEMS. PS3 has SOME advantages, but its price is also incremental, so does that wash them out? Consumers will tell. But I'm fairly certain you are wrong, although not 100%.
beermonkey@tehbias said:Of course. Now, tell us what percentage of gamers really, really will specifically want a PS3 at the end of this year (even after seeing that stuff like Gears and Lost Planet looks more next-gen than the PS3 launch titles), and then we can start to make some meaningful sales predictions.
.
360 is the PS2 of this gen.
