Japanese vs USA

Seems that always the Japanese art is more awesome and have much impact art than other territories.

This has been happening in Gaming, since 80's and pretty much all media. I remeber the dreadful Amercian SNES covers vs the Japanese ones.

They don't have different covers between the EU and US anymore do they?

Our Resident Evil 4 cover (EU) was the best.

well they change it to what they think will sell best in that market.

usually games have a different japanese cover. the japanese market is tougher but slap some attractive females on it and it'll sell like crazy.

Different markets, different marketing strategies.

Think that many people still buy games or get attracted to covers. You see an interesting game cover, do a quick search online, say in metacritic, and decide to get the game.
The cover is the presentation card of games.

To match audience expectations. It's why the American version of Ico is a thrill-a-minute bloodthirsty action game full of death, vengeance and tits.

The Japanese version is a bit more sedate.

Because people who in charge of marketing in west think we are more attracted to dull and boring cover arts

It boggles my mind that they felt like they needed to do better than the Japanese original, and it's embarrassing what they landed on.

Because the marketing "geniouses" who are responsible for these decisions think that the majority of Americans have worse taste in art than the rest of the world.
