Oh you ruined it now man, now everyone knows. It was OUR secret /sob

Woohoo, downloaded ;)
I thought there would be an indication like the % chance it rains or something.

Ah well, that's cool to have the channel anyway ;)

Wow, checking out the globe is serious making me depress. The poles are very warm for this time of the year, in fact the whole planet is pretty warm. If the ice continues to melt and all the fresh water rushes into the ocean, it is going to cause an Ice Age. Also you can start to see land mass in Greenland and Antarctica. These textures are real photos from NASA. Global Warming is REAL!!!!

So guys.. where's the North Pole?

The North Pole is entirely made of ice, isn't it?

Only actual landmasses are shown on that map, I believe.

Antartica seems intact, though, which is odd.

People bring this up a lot, but honestly: Would it be that fun for people in Texas or California to never see snow in Animal Crossing? Nothing but overcast or rain almost constantly for those playing in England?

It's not much of a "get away from it all" fantasy world if you can't escape the weather constantly dogging where you actually live.
Of course it wouldn't be great for ALL games to use your current weather at ALL times, but even then a game like Animal Crossing could make good use of it. Maybe you could start the game and tell it your town is supposed to be located in Hawaii. If you want to go snowy, you visit someone whose town is in Greenland.

Something like that could be really interesting for sports or racing games that take place in real world locations.

because Antartica is a land mass, not just ice.

Yes, but it would look very different without the ice.

Perhaps the difference as far as the Forecast Channel creators are concerned is that the Antarctic ice is much thicker.

Wikipedia said:
About 98% of Antarctica is covered by the Antarctic ice sheet. The ice sheet is, on average, 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) thick.
Wikipedia said:
The sea ice at the North Pole is typically around two or three metres thick [6], though occasionally the movement of floes exposes clear water.

I found that as well. You click on the tiny dot that is in the screen after you enter the shop channel (as far as I remember). I was hoping for some cool secret bonus things. But the text is rather non-interesting :(.

Can't you just make the program snow when it actually rains instead. Although not entirely accurate, when something falls outside, it falls in the game too.

I think it would be better if they add some interesting place that match your preference. Like Skier/boarder you can get weather from the mountain near you. Surfer can get the weather on the beach around your area and so on.

or Antarctica is a continent and the Arctic Sea is not

Zod, yeah.

Maybe if Superman fights him and Lois Lane dies again, he'll fly around the world fast enough to get the Wii to update again.

YES, but seeing how this seems to be a topographical map, it's odd not seeing the plentiful (albeit thin) ice floes on top of the map.

...

Are we really arguing about the North Pole? V_V

I hope they add in local radar. You can't see weather comming at you without radar.

And as often as they seem to update now you'll be watching weather from four hours ago begin to head towards your current location.

"Current" reeeeally needs to be more current. It's 1:30am here, and the last update was at 6pm. When I go into the weather channel, it still lists "today" as being Tuesday.

Hopefully this is just because the service is just getting going, and Nintendo still needs to get everything smoothed out. Because, this really can't be how it is supposed to work.

Has anyone used other products that depend on WeatherNews? It does seem like "The World's Largest Full-Service Weather Company" would have more frequent updates than this. But I'd like to confirm that before virtually smacking Nintendo's servers or the Forecast Channel's designers for only having things update every few hours.

In Germany, it seems that it's updated every 2 hours...

I'd trade them for DKC.

Wtf, why?!

Turbogfx has the SLIGHT possibility of delivering some Rondo of Blood goodness (very very slight).

DKC has no chance of being good.

We saw how effective the "Touch Generation" campaign is for Nintendo. Coming next: Nintendo promoting Wii Channels on TV. These channels will sell Wii to people who just have a Tivo and couldn't care less about games.

they need to fix up how it decides whether to show a Sun or Moon for fine and clear depending on time of day. Some cities would be correct while other ones right next to it would be showing the opposite (like the Sun when it's in the middle of the night).

What bad grade of crack are you smoking? DKC was awesome!

WTF at people without windows. Why do you want a current weather forecast? I mean, doesn't the word forecast negates the current state? You check the weather for the next day, or incoming days. For current weather reports, you look through the window.

When I look through the window, I can look around the world and see me looking through the window looking around the world again!

Not. :]

I can't tell the temp by looking out the window...

The channel is pretty cool. I was just messing around the globe and noticed the weather for Papeete, seriously who lives there, talk about living in the middle of nowhere.

But WEATHER. Just look outside for petes sake! BAM it's function bundled with EVERYTHING.
Look outside? What does that have to do with a new service?

So what your saying is that you dont wnt free wether service that you can, or cannot use at your will?

I DO have a free service, the WEATHER channel and I NEVER use it because I have a WINDOW.

I'm not saying get rid of the damn thing I just don't understand what everyone is getting all excited about.
